10 or less to lose - CLOSED GROUP!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey all, I'm looking for others with similar goals (not stats, anybody who's 10 or less from their goal) so we can keep each other company for the last leg of the weight-loss extravaganza. A small group would be great fun! (Let's keep it to just the first 10 or so who join - if I even get that many takers!)

My stats:

Age: 22

Height: 5'0

CW: 107-110 (morning-evening)

Goal Weight: 98-101

I would like to join.

My goal is 140 lbs

CRW 150 lbs

Height 5"3

Age 34

i was thinking, in addition to weigh ins, it might be good if me could each pick one or two buddies (someone with somewhat similar stats and weight goals as you) to keep each other motivated and accountable during the week! What do you guys think?

Oh yes! That sounds like my kind of plan!

Age: 15

Height: 5'6

CW: 124

Goal Weight: 118

I kinda don't fit into the category, though, because my original goal was to lose 8 pounds.  I've already lost two of it, and I only have six more to go. =] It's just that I've been at this BMI range for my whole life, so it's terribly hard to get those stubborn pounds off.

Cool! I'm in!

Age:18

Height: 168cm

CW: 70-73kg, yes it fluctuates a lot

Goal weight: 62kg

I'm going to start on a soy-milk based diet. I love soy milk and i love its low calorie/high protein nature even more!

By the way, on the oat meal container label, i saw it stating 100g of that(oat meal)will give 350kcal, does that mean 350,000 calories? I thought we're supposed to take about 2000calories a day only? How can 100g of oat meal generate more than 100 times energy of our theoretical calorie intake of a day? I thought oat meals are meant to be very low in energy content? Sorry..but i guess this might just be some sort of confusion over the prefix unit.

You want to buddy up?

I am 5 feet

111 lbs

goal is 97-102 lbs

I was doing 1200 calories a day but that seemed to not do anything so I am trying the zig zag approach this week.  I eat heathy, whole grains, veggies, fruit.  No white flour, bread, or pasta, just whole wheat.

I work out 5 -6 times a week 1 hour long cardio sessions 3-5 times and weights 2 times a week for 50 mintues

I think you might want to get a buddy who's approach is compatible with yours. I'll only be jogging+some workout on arms etc 3 or 4 times a week with no strict diet on lunch. I'll eat anything that i like for lunch(so that i wouldn't be dissatisfied at night since i'll only be taking soy milk) except the(obviously)unhealthy food like burgers, cheese or fried chicken.

Hi there!

Can I join? At last I have found some tall people!! I'm 24, 5'10"!
Current weight - 155
Goal weight - 147
So close but yet so far... its so frustrating!! Grrrr!

I would say weigh ins on Friday if poss.
My approach is - I like to run about 3 or 4 times a week about 3 miles each time. I have IBS so I have to eat lots of fibre. I generally have all bran for breakfast, fruit or a muffin for snack. Soup or something small for lunch and a larger meal in the evening like fish or chicken etc. Generally I let myself off at the weekend which I'm sure is where I am going wrong!!

I vote for a friday weigh-in!!

Maybe you should edit the title of the thread to say group closed.. you're gonna end up with a million more than 10 people otherwise!

wow! yay for motivation ;-P

wells...since joining last week i dropped a pound (yay!) now at 140 pounds! 7 more to go! i tried to see who might be similar to me (5' 7" 21 yrs old, 7 more to go from 140 to 133) i think i'm stuck in between tall peeps and short peeps ;-P

Stephiepops, i think you've done it the other way round. You should be taking a heavy meal as lunch(chicken, fish etc)and take light food such as a soup or something at night because you have less time to digest the food at night. You go to sleep about 5 or 6 hours after having your dinner and people don't usually exercise at night, do they? Hope that helps.

Thanks St Hilda, I know I should eat more in the day and less at night. Its because I live with my fiance and he gets back at about 7 so I always cook a night meal for us both. I guess I could just cook him one and have soup for dinner instead?

Hay jef - we are similar height/weight with similar goals!

Hey Everybody -- it's me, the crazy chic who started this group and then disappeared! Thanks SOO much to doedoe for being the organizer :O) I changed the heading so we're officially closed now.

karensue! let's be buddies -- our goals are similar! :O)

As for weigh-ins, should we take a vote? Or is everybody pretty set on Friday? I'd actually go for Monday, myself.

stephiepops and jef, it looks like the 3 of us are pretty similar. :)

I'm 24/F/5'10" currently 170 looking to lose 10 pounds

I like the Friday weigh-in idea. I'm a much better dieter during the week while I'm working. LOL.

Hmm, yeah, I'll have to vote for friday as well. =]

»Okie«

Friday it is, I guess! Only two days before our first weigh-in guys! How's everybody doing?

Well I'm going to be brutally honest. I have been really good today up until an hour ago when I ate 8 chocolate digestive biscuits coming it at 86 cals each. I feel awful and sick. I am going to only eat soup for dinner and make sure I get my 3 mile run in before dinner.

I feel awful guys. I'm so sorry, I feel I have let you all down already.

I vow until I reach my goal of 147 I will not eat another biscuit/cookie. They are totally my weakness and are so evil!!!!

I am going to be strict and cut them out. I think its the only way. If I start I can't stop!

You lot have to support me on this, I dont think I can do it by myself!

Hey stephie -- don't feel too bad, babe -- we're all here for you. If it makes you feel better I ate more than 2,000 calories yesterday -- a huge bowl of chocolate ice cream was part of it. Oi vey.

I support the ditching of the biscuits, hard though it will be. I thought I would never stop drinking coca-cola, I used to have around 5 cans a day, but I've quit for more than a year now -- you can do it!

Hang in there!

Just throw out the digestives!  Put them in the garbage!

Well I have two problems there -

1 - the digestives are in the office where I work... always lurking in the tin in the kitchen.
2 - I am the one responsible for the office supplies so I am always having to make sure the tin is full for everyone and top it up everyday.
3 - My fiance loves biscuits and always like to have them in the house.

The house is not really a problem its the office where I really fall down.

From now on though I am going to stear clear of all biscuits as I said yesterday - no more until wedding day (september).

Also - managed to beat my best running time last night - 3 miles in 28 minutes dead on! Great!! Feel slightly better about the biscuits now.

How is everyone else doing?
