| Baggy Britches...dilemma? | ||
| May 18 2008 18:28 | ||
It is finally warming up where I live so I pulled out my summer clothes. And they look ridiculous on me! I've been losing weight at a snails pace so it took a long winter for me to realize I'll need a whole new wardrobe to replace my warm weather baggy britches. But I'm not done losing weight yet. Do I buy new clothes? Do I wait? Goal is still a couple months off. Do I look as silly as I feel in over-sized clothing? They are probably 1 or 2 sizes too big. By the way, this is a very positive complaint! How have you all solved this most excellent dilemma? |

Haha... I really have nothing to add to this other than the fact that I miss read the title of the thread to say "Braggy Bitches". I thought it was about someone being upset that a friend or an acquaintence was braggin to much about their weight loss or fitness level. I think I need a nap. |

Target is the best place to go. I have just started to replace my clothes in my clothes at the beginning of May. I also took all of the clothes that i can pull off my body with them zippered/button and have given them away. I have been shopping at Target and Ann Taylor Loft for my work clothes. (I only go with a budget of $20, so I dont spend more then that) For going out clothes I have been frequenting Forever 21
Note: When you start wearing the clothes that fit people will notice that you have lost weight or more weight |

I found it very motivating to reward myself with a couple nice pieces when I would move down a couple sizes. I tended to wait until I was officially down two sizes before spending too much money on anything, but a couple of cleverly chosen items will keep you in good stead until the next run of shopping needs to be done. Avoid loose fitting shorts or trousers and opt for more flattering options with an elastine fabric, or a-line skirts and shift dresses. These won't look so obviously over-sized as you continue to lose weight. Many department stores offer complimentary personal shopping service. May be worth having someone offer some recommendations, as I found after losing a lot of weight, I simply didn't know what styles would suit me anymore. For instance, I'd always favoured v-necks because I was quite busty but after the loss, the scoop neck and bib style tops were far more flattering to my newly and never before visible collarbones. |

Update: I waited until I was down 15lbs, with 5 to go. Figured I'd be close enough to my goal to get some clothes that will fit for a while and it would give me time to save up some money. I hit up Old Navy and Target. Three pairs of pants and six T-shirts/tanks for $100 (saved up $200, probably because of how little I eat out now). So I have $100 left to use in a couple months after I lose more (decided to reset my goal another 5lbs, seeing I still have chunk in the legs to spare). I didn't try on one pair of pants until I got home (only $10). They look really cute! But I can already tell they're going to be too big in a short amount of time. Makes me sad. Took me most of the day, but I did find some cute clothes that should fit me for a while. Thanks again on all the advice you guys! I'm still working on tailoring some of my old favorites. I really like that idea too. |

I don't know where you live, but if you are in the US, big name department stores have been putting summer apparel on sale early - probably due to the bad economy. I dropped 2 sizes (50 lbs) and the waist on my size 22's are falling down to my hips. Have been able to pick up a few nice pieces on sale! |
