♥"A Healthy Baby & Me" Pregnancy Group♥ undertherainbow
  May 09 2008 18:49

Since there are a few of us who are interested in staying healthy and active during our pregnancy, I thought it would be great to start a "pregnancy group".

I know that for many of us, it is easy to get caught up in the pregnancy and sometimes we do not always worry about what kind of food we are eating or if we are active.

This group will serve as a daily, weekly, or whenever you want check-in to keep us all motivated to remain healthy and active throughout our pregnancies.  Feel free to discuss whatever else you may want as well.

Here are some helpful links to check out as well:

morning!

how is laughing cow cheese?  I love the commercial where the woman caught the bus on time but then realized when she got home that she drove to work.  Something that I would do!

I'm eating my fiber one.   I had a whole wheat bagel yesterday for brekfast but it made me sick to my stomach.  I think it was too heavy for me.  I didn't eat that well yesterday-  bagel for b-fast; better burger for lunch (although I got the low fat smashed potatoes instead of the air fries); but I did have a big salad.  We went over to my MIL for birthday cake so I had to indulge!!!  i love carvel.

Goal for the day:  Hydrate, eat right, and walk.  Already walked to the train station; so I have the return trip back, plus I'll walk over lunch.  I'm going to have a whole wheat gilled chicken parm wrap from energy kitchen (only 410 cals) and then I'll make turkey burgers for dinner.

I haven't seen that commercial but it sounds too funny!  It's pretty yummy.  I always get the light swiss kind and it doesn't have as strong of a taste as regular swiss cheese but it's very easy to spread on crackers, bread, or whatever else you like.

You eat so healthy!  That's something that I am still working on.  I have been terrible about giving into my cravings.  My main concern right now is trying to drink enough water.  I get dehydrated really easily but have a hard time drinking enough water.

i wasn't always eating healthy-  when I went to the doc i had gained 8 pounds in one month-  so it kinda gave me a wake up call!!  And, our kitchen renovation is now complete; so I have full control of what we have for dinner instead of going out.    I want to get a head start on my year long journey of getting my body back to the way it should be!!!  some days are easier than others;  i did just eat half a carvel cake in the last two days.  Calcium!!!  LOL

the commercial is very funny!

sometimes you have to give in to your cravings.  They take over you.  In my first and second tri; they were overpowering.  Now the cravings have seemed to wane.  Let's hope it keeps up!!

I really wanted take-out tonight but I'm settling for spaghetti at home.

I have been wanting a Carvel cake since you mentioned it.  Thankfully, there's no occassion coming up anytime soon.

Good Morning everyone!

Can't believe I made it to work today!  I was walking soo slowly-  it's getting warmer out and my body temo is already like 10 degrees more than it usually feels like!  A little swollen today-  not sure why since I really tried to be healthy last night.  Starving!  Time for my FiberOne!!

Day looks like it will be another killer.  Already wanting to go home!  I got 8 kicks while i was on a conference call and I thought I was going to burst out laughing!!

Morning everyone!!

Just got back from the gym-a miracle since I have been sleeping so poorly! I don't know what it is, but I can't get comfortable, and my legs feel so sore! I researched restless leg syndrome, but I don't think I fit the description. It could be that I stand all day at work, and my body is just extra tired!

Hope you all have a great day! Time for breakfast!!!
#27 vanessa1031 May 14 2008 16:27
My heels KILL if I stand too long.  It's torture.  It's like the tell-tale sign that I am officially pooped.  I started to have RLS around my 20th week.  It's the strangest feeling-  like you HAVE to move your legs-  like strange sensations shooting up your body while you lay down.  Oh the joys of pregnancy!

A charile horse from HELL woke me up today -  it was terrible.  The pain was so bad I couldn't speak!  If a horrible charlie horse is as painful as labor; I'm doomed.
#28 undertherainbow May 14 2008 18:50

Great job on going to the gym today, le_cabinet!

I was told not to stand up or sit down for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time because of circulation.  Basically, if I have been sitting down for a couple hours get up and walk around.  Or if I have been standing for X amount of time, sit down for a bit.

The pain of labor is definitely worth the outcome.  :)  I was so scared with my 1st pregnancy.  But when the time came, it's not as bad as you think it would be but it was pretty darn painful.  (The epidural helped Tongue out)  My pain tolerance is a lot higher now though after giving birth.

Morning Ladies!

After Vanessa mentioned Calcium yesterday, I decided to take a look at mine and realized that I was under the 1000mg recommended.  My prenatals have 200mg, so really I just need to be sure to get at least 800mg.  I had a glass of Tropicana OJ with Calcium this morning and now have around 350mg.  :)  (I'm not much of a milk drinker)

I think my morning sickness is returning.  I felt sick the past two mornings.  Hopefully it doesn't stick around for long.

#30 vanessa1031 May 15 2008 16:16
morning everyone!

So I went into starbucks today becuase I wanted an iced skim latte.  Most of it is milk; and the caffiene content on the website says 130mg; which is in the range for the amount you are alloted.  The big mean guy looked at me and said; you want decaf, right? and I calmly stated no; and he gave me the dirtiest look ever!  It's like I ordered a shot of tequila and asked for the worm to chew on afterwards!

Undertherainbow-  it is hard to get all your calcium in!  I've been opting to get cheese on my sandwich-  I also bought a gallon of that OJ wi/ calcium and vit d.  I thew in some spinach leaves into my salad last night.

It's taken me like 2 hours to write this post!!  I've been so busy all morning-  at least it's making the time go by fast.  such a strange day!

my hips ache when I wake up in the morning.  And yesterday my ankle joint must have been displaces a bit becuase it felt so sprained for about tow hours-  I couldn't move!!!  and it put pressure on the nerve and my calf was on fire.  The joints in my hands hurt so much-  is pregancy aging me????

I've also stooped to a whole new low........since I can't use my normal eye cream; I had to buy Preparation H for the puffiness under my eyes!!!!  OMG!  The Duane Reade guy asked me how my pregnancy was going when I brought up the ointment and my pre-natal vites-  and I said-  way overly bright "I love being pregnant!"  LOL  I'm glad it was late and no one was in the store!!
#31 undertherainbow May 15 2008 16:38

For some reason, people feel that you are "free game" to their comments, looks, and even belly touches when you are pregnant.  I haven't quite understood that yet.

Personally, I prefer to stay away from caffeine altogether.  I know that there is a healthy range to stay in but I'm the type of person that it's easier to just give it up then limit it.  I should do that with all the junk food.  Tongue out

And I felt like pregnancy aged me, too.  After the baby is born though you start returning back to normal.  I would still bring up all your aches and pains to your doctor though.  I developed carpal tunel with my first pregnancy and while it is has gotten better, I still have it unfortunately.

At least you love being pregnant... But I bet you can't wait to hold that precious baby!

Morning friends,

wondering if you guys experienced any bleeding at all during your pregnancy. Last night, I woke to pee for the 3rd time, and felt something come out (sorry for the graphics) before I actually urinated. The toilet paper was pinkish/red, and in the bottom of the toilet was about a quarter sized ammount of bright red blood. Of course I was panicked, and got on line for an hour to research. It hasn't happened again, and I don't have any cramping. My mind starts playing tricks on me, and it's hard not to focus on the worst......my boobs are still sore, but I haven't had any nausea this week (10th week), and I hear that's normal as you approach your second trimester. Sorry for the rant, please let me know your thoughts/experiences.

I did put a message into my doctor.

Thanks!!!
#33 undertherainbow May 16 2008 15:50

Good Morning!

Spotting can be common but uncommon at the same time.  In any case, it is important to always contact your doctor if you do experience bleeding as it is better safe than sorry.

Hopefully your doctor calls you back soon!  Do they have an emergency contact number listed to page your doctor?

I am in my 11th week now and the nausea is coming back at random times but it disappeared in my 9th and 10th week.

#34 vanessa1031 May 16 2008 16:25
morning!

le_cabinet:  I experience something similar to you; I was "with" my DH and i started bleeding-  pretty bad; like the beginning of a period.  This happened in my 8th week.  I sat on the toilet for an hour crying my eyes out becuase I thought I was miscarrying.  It was a horrible experience.  I called my doc right away; he said it could be that or it could be becuase I had bleeding behind the placenta.   I had a sonogram a week later thinking that there wasn't going to be a baby; but there she was; just like a little peanut!  It's common to spot/bleed in the beginning; which is what my doc told me; but he told me not to have sex or workout for a few weeks-  which I did not.  After  two days the bleeding tapered off; and for a whole week after it was more like spotting.  Then it stopped and I haven't had any other sitings since.   I never had cramping either.

Stay in touch with your doc-  is it too early to hear the heartbeat?  That is the most reassuring sound I have ever heard-  which is what I heard after my week-long episode.  Good luck-  and take it easy today.  When do you go for your sonogram?  Have you heard the heartbeat yet?
#35 undertherainbow May 16 2008 16:34

I heard the heartburn at my first doctor's appt which was about 7/8 weeks along so it's not too early.

I can only imagine how worried you were during that whole week, Vanessa!

#36 le_cabinet May 16 2008 16:36
It's amazing how God has sent me friends through the internet--thank you guys so much for your quick responses-it really means so much.

I actually had a sonogram at 6 1/2 weeks! The tech. wasn't sure if a heartbeat could be detected, but there it was! And 140! She said everything looked great, and that we need not fear of sharing our news with family and friends (I am playing her words over and over in my head today!!).

The bleeding was literally just once last night--so I'm happy about that. I have a dr. appointment on Monday, and believe me, I'll be counting down the seconds!

Thanks again so much Vanessa, and Ms. Rainbow. Big hugs to you both!
#37 vanessa1031 May 16 2008 17:21
Big hugs to both of you ladies as well!!!!!

none of my freinds are pregnant (and some aren't even married)  I have no one to talk to about my whole pregnancy experience and finding this forum is great!!!  the other forums online are too big for me; and I can't seem to get into them.  Yay for CC and Yay for healthy radiant pregnant ladies!!'

I'm sure everything will be fine and the baby is great-  it's just so scary!!

xoxo

Hi all!  I haven't been checking in as often as I should, but I've been reading the daily posts. :)

I'm almost into my third trimester (25 weeks as of yesterday), and I'm starting to notice the slow down starting.  I seem to feel tired halfway through the day just like in the beginning.  I walked all over my mom's neighborhood this morning garage sale-ing, and I'm beat!  But I did get a really good deal on some baby items.  Mom's neighbor let me have first dibs on all her baby stuff, so I got a double stroller, crib, and changing table for $35.  Yay!
#39 undertherainbow May 17 2008 22:12

What an awesome deal Cecily!

I want to get a round baby crib for this baby but they are so hard to find at a reasonable price.  Thankfully we have a few months before we start worrying about that.  :)

I went shopping this morning and found about 7 shirts that actually fit with room to grow in.  They are normal shirts but thankfully the style now is the "pregnancy" shirts where there is room to grow, so I should be good for most of the 2nd trimester.

It's hard to believe that next week is my 12th week and the next week I'll be entering into the 2nd trimester.

#40 vanessa1031 May 17 2008 23:25
hi ladies!  happy saturday :)

today I woke up with the WORST cramps-   i thought i was having contractions but it was my stomach that was upset.  thankfully it was a fleeing thing-  i was worried i had food poisoning or something; but then i was fine after the morning.  phew!  no fever; just stomach issues.

i've been trying to get everything in order-  i know i have 9 weeks to go- but I feel like i'm behind the ball-  and aside from that; i really need a hair cut and just no time between work and the house (we renovated our entire house because it was falling apart) So many projects at once!

cecily-  sounds like you got some great deals!  i never find anything at garage sales-  but now I have something/someone new to shop for!

i'm just so glad i didn't have to WORK today.  totally slept in.

this baby is kicking as we speak and i can see the movements under my shirt - like a wave.  who knew pregnancy could be such an amazing experience at times and be so tiring all at once?

ms. rainbow-  how fast time flies that you are going into your 2nd tri already!!!!  i'm glad you found some nice tops to wear!
