I bought this book when i first started my diet in january, read about 1 chapter and never opened it again.

I couldn't stand her excessive cursing, and the writers come off as snobs.

You can have co-author status if you write a chapter on elongating your muscles with toning exercise

Hi,

I have to chime in here. I hated this book - while I thought there views were somewhat interesting I thought the condescending manner with which it was written was too much for me to take.

I generally don't throw away books - I will send them to GoodWill if I find that they are not worth keeping BUT THIS BOOK - I threw away. I did not even recycle it. I threw it away.

It made me feel terrible about myself and the whole process of dieting.

my mom bought me the 2nd book, containing tons of vegan recipes.

i agree, they seem to be turning veganism into a fad diet. they have things listed in the ingredients like vegan sausage, vegan bacon, and vegan butter - NOT healthy.. vegan or not.

i read through half of the recipes and thought of all the people who would make these disheses and think they were SO low-calorie and eat the whole batch and wonder why they gained 5 lbs.

i would like the 1st book though.

vegetarian, I eat mostly vegan since I have difficulty digesting dairy & eggs AND I NEED TO LOOSE WEIGHT!

Think about it people bread, pasta, beans, tofu, tempeh all high in calories, all staples of a veg diet!

hehe i so understand you. i became a vegetarian about 18 years ago and have been overweight for about 30 years. although i believe that vegetarianism (a choice i made for ethical reasons) is good for my health generally, it does not make me or anyone else thin

Thank you!! I really needed to hear what your thoughts were, I did "search" it on the forum, and was able to read more than my mind could handle about this topic!!   I am 3/4 done with the book and I have mixed feelings about the book. I did find a few contradicting points throughout the book; but I feel over all it has given me a good push towards my goals again!! For sure not my bible my makes me think a little bit more when I'm at the market!!
