A few of us have been chatting about how difficult we find weekends.  Our problems range from not drinking enough water to simply not logging on to CC at the weekend.  Other favourites include not exercising, drinking too much alcohol and not exactly staying on track food-wise!  I'm pretty sure I've stayed away from CC at weekends because I knew my "friends" would kick my butt, get me moving and help me stay on track and I didn't REALLY want to!

If any of this sounds familiar, then come and join us.  I'm committing to logging on more at weekends, in order to stay focussed but I need people to chat with - interested?

And if you have any bright ideas on how to stay on track at weekends, then please post them here - otherwise, chat to you at the weekend!

Post it up to experience and move on, Mel - it happens!

I met my exercise challenge for the weekend, yay me!

Welcome love2hate :-)  Always room for weekend people :-)

Where were you all?!  Ok, so Olivia was painting and decorating - but the rest of you?  Where did you all disappear to??  Ok, whining over - hope you all had good weekends.

Here's hoping the scales are kind to us this week....

Well, Caro, Rome wasn't built in a day! I sure didn't make the challenge but I'm sooo glad you did! I thought about it once or twice...is that a step? Embarassed My decadent weekend is chronicled in my journal.

Don't give up on me, I'm determined to turn my life around to the point of eating & exercising in a healthy way SEVEN days a week! Sorry I didn't log in much. My son, who 'moved out' Saturday, came back on Sunday and hogged the computer all day watching Dexter! Wonder if he's actually going to give me the chance to miss him?

I was so busy painting -- seriously!!

We took J's mom and dad out (my mom was sick) but when we got home and they were all watching Castaway, I totally feel asleep.  (like a tool)

Well until I get my internet fixed I wont be able to log on the weekends (Friday and Saturday for me) but since it feels like the "keeping it going" forum is dwindling I thought Id give a shout out over here to my friendly faces...

Weekend advice - to do fun active stuff - I find that if I have tons of fun stuff to do food isn't that big of an issue. If on the other hand I "relax" too much and do nothing somehow I find myself concocting calorie filled snacks (and I don't have too many calorie filled snacks at my place- this usually involves diving into my roommate's sugary chocolaty cereal)

So how about we make a list of fun active things to do:

1. go window shopping (see how the walk just hides there?)

2. go wall climbing (its really fun if you have someone to play with)

3. go DANCING...I really should do that....

It looks like this is just the group for me!  I'm trying to lose weight by tackling my abysmal eating habits, I was just whining in another thread that I am so very good during the week, then I let my guard down just a little during the weekend and wham! all the weight comes right back.  Now that just doesn't seem fair, does it?

For me it's not drinking or lack of excercise on the weekends, but just what Sparkler said - scrambled hours and no planning or logging.  I munch while I'm making the kids lunch at noon, then the phone rings and I end up having lunch at one, then the kids want a snack at 3, of which I have "a couple bites", then I have my plain yogurt at 4, then it's laundry and shopping, and then time to start dinner at 6, don't forget dessert (which we don't usually have during the week...)  And dh brings home fresh bagels on Sunday morning, which I can't resist, after which they go into the freezer for the kids for the week, and I'm not at all interested in them.

I think the idea of weekend challenges is great, and I'm logged in over the weekends now and then so I'll be glad to check in!

This might be just what I need. I am perfect in the week, excersise loads and stick to my calorie goal, but as soon as it is the wekend, i forget every rule. this last weekend was a nightmare. it makes it even harder when i am not at home,. being away doesn't make it impossible, but i just seem to want bad food at the weekends.

How can i train my mind o think at the weekend like i do in the week?!

#27 love2hatetreamills May 12 2008 16:02

I agree.  It is all about structure.  I am great during the week because I work and I can't snack.  If I even consider taking a bite of something I have 35 students wanting whatever it is.   So, I am good about just me and my water bottles.  Weekends though, between random company distractions (and yes, a good hostess always has food out) and kids, and events, there just seems to be too many obstacles.

I did great Saturday morning.  Revlon Run/Walk for Women.  5K walk.  I only ate two of the snacks they handed out afterward.  Then it went downhill.  My daughter made me a creamy pasta dish and brownies for dinner (Sooo good) and then my other daughter gave me Godiva dark chocolates on Sunday.  I gained two pounds, but it was fun!

I will have to do better next weekend.

I am glad to see so many people in the same boat as I am.  ( :

I think having a supportive group to hold me accountable like this one helps me a lot!

I did much better this weekend.  Wroked out twice, painted for hours (has to count a little), drank lots of water, and did not eat too much or badly.

I am challenging myself to workout every day until we leave for vacation.   Weekends too --  ( :

i was *drumroll please* ...

STUDYING FOR FINALS.

whoa, exhilirating, i know! don't you wish YOU could have been studying? no. you dont. its not fun, and by the way, did anyone know its almost impossible to stick to good eating while studying? i found that out the hard way this weekend. hahah. it actually wasn't too bad. first final tonight from 8 - 10 pm. isn't that a ridiculous time? oh well i guess. hope everyone else had a great weekend!

olivia: i'm a little jealous you got to paint! i love painting... i painted three rooms in my house this summer, it was AWESOME.

gem: i do the exact same thing! once weekend hits, i have no idea what 'diet' even means. is there any hope for us? haha!

#31 clharr May 12 2008 20:47

Studying for finals..  Yeah...  I am so jealous.  I think I will get over it though.

And you guys can come over and help me paint my house any time you want.

#32 olivia77 May 12 2008 21:18

You can keep the studying, and I love painting, so call me any time!  ( :

#36 olivia77 May 13 2008 21:28
LOL --  it's like phone tag only slower.....
#37 love2hatetreamills May 13 2008 22:41

weekend?  I was actually pretty good.  I made good eating choices and got in my workouts.  I got in a good workout last night too.  That makes 4 days of exercise in a row.  Not a bad start.

#38 spedteach115 May 13 2008 23:53

I am going to join you all in the I suck at weekends... I purposely moved my weekly weigh ins to Thursdays because it gives me the beginning of the week to work off my beers and restaurant food from the weekend. And gives me the perfect cheat day on Friday! and now Olivia is kicking my butt -- I think? we need to compare notes this week- on the pound droppage... so I will commit to checking in, and keeping more accurate notes on food on the weekends.  I am ocd during the week and always keep track, but seem to have avoided logging in for fear of seeing the grand total after a night out on the town.  I am about 5ish pounds away from my mini goal  and have 2 weddings to go to and a vacation rapidly approaching. Surprised

#39 olivia77 May 14 2008 16:53
yay spedteach/toni!!

 ( :

No worries.... I was up 14 lbs with TTOM, still up 9 or 10.  sigh....  it will come back off, but come on.....

I cannot wait for school to be over and go on vacation, but since i am teaching summer school, it will be a short lived celebration....   ( ;

Sending weightloss vibes to Olivia :-)

Welcome to everyone new :-)  I'm starting to lose track!  So, all ready for the next weekend and our challenge?  Anyone have a suggestion for this one?  Otherwise I'll be bossy and suggest something!

I have to say, this weekend is going to be very busy socially for me so I may not be on here much.  I have friends staying for the weekend, although they're mostly doing their own thing.  Saturday I'm out at a wine tasting (HELP!), then I'll cook dinner for my friends (assuming I can even find the kitchen).  On Sunday I'm invited to a BBQ.  So, eating and drinking right and getting exercise in is going to be interesting.  Oh, did I mention I'm getting my haircut on Saturday morning?!
