Has anyone here tried the "Idiot Proof Diet" found Online?
I have been on it about a week and am interested to know if anyone knows if this is a healthy diet...what kind of results have others had?
Thank you for helping.

Hi, There's a review about this diet on this webpage: http://squidoo.com/fatloss4idiotsdiet

It has user testimonials at the end and looks interesting. How are you doing with it?

I don't see any reason to try it. It's called "Fat Loss 4 Idiots".

I'm not an idiot.

From their website:

  • Did you know that your brain controls the release of Fat Burning Hormones after each meal? It's true.

  • Every time you eat something there are 2 types of hormones released into your bloodstream, and together they control Fat Burning and Fat Storage.

  • Also, did you know that these 2 hormones are controlled by the foods that you eat? It's true.

  • Food is like a LIGHT SWITCH which can turn Fat Burning ON or OFF.

  • So even though it may seem like a contradiction to say that eating more often is the solution to weight loss............that's exactly what our New Dieting System is all about.

  • Eating less is NOT THE ANSWER

If some breakthrough discovery is made, the AMA will put out a press release. You won't have to pay some website operator $38 ("$19 after discount"!!!) to read about it.

Hi all,

Basically don't do this diet....it's the same as all the rest.

I'm a mature student currently studying nutrition and sports science.  I'll give you the basics of how this works.

  • Even though they say it's not low carb the majority of the carbs are simple i.e. natural sugars.  If you look at the plan there is virtually no complex carbs i.e. whole grains (bread, rice, etc).  There is some but not much.  This is where the problem begins/starts.
  • Without being too scientific the complex carbs break down to produce glycogen, which is stored in the muscles (and liver).  Muscle glycogen is your initial energy source and main energy source for sprinters and people who take part in explosive sports.
  • Glycogen is a compond that has chemically bound water and for every 1 gram of glycogen there is 3 grams (equivalent weight) in water.
  • Thus, if you severely reduce the amount of complex carbs that you eat you deplete your glycogen stores, which in turn depletes the amount of water in your muscles (for every 1gram of glycogen you lose you lose 3grams of water) and eventual rapid weight loss is apparent.
  • What you are losing is water NOT fat!!  Unless you can stay on this "diet" for the rest of your life you will put the weight back on just like other diets.  That's where the term "yo-yo" came from.
  • Safe and TRUE weight loss will come on the order of 1-2lbs a week (on aver.) from a change in diet alone.  Initial weight loss maybe more but it will settle out.
  • They do make several correct statements though but lead you down the wrong track.  Starving yourself is definitely NOT the answer as that reduces your metabolism.  Eating 5-6 smaller meals is the way to go.
