| Has anyone else out there tried this diet? I tried it some time ago pretty warily, since it promised "Lose 9lbs in 11days...!" Well I bought it and gave it a try anyway, I was a little desperate at the time and I did manage to lose six pounds in six days?!?! I didn't "balloon up" afterwards and gain it all back, I think I gained 1 pound back maybe and that was after a week. OK.. the diet isn't exactly the most balanced diet out there imo, but I was just wondering... how is it even possible to lose six pounds in six days?? ?_? The meals were just too weird for me, and they don't work around my schedule anymore as I have another person to feed. Did anyone else ever try this and experience those weird results? Also, does there seem to be anything terribly dangerous about this diet, other than the really weird meals? Thanks. |

| Sometimes your body loses weight at a larger amount than normal. Just because some one went on a different diet for a week, doesnt mean that magically the weight will come back in droves, or the body is going to have serious implications from lack of nutrients. Long term, would be highly unstable and thats where you run into problems with gaining it all back, or lack of nutrients. | ||

| I did it in 2005 for my wedding and shed about 13kgs (28.6lbs) in about 6 weeks and it stayed of until I got pregnant..... I didn't have any adverse reactions. I was on the old diet and it was quite repetative, but I've just discovered that there is a new menu with all of the things that I really missed in the last menu. I'm actually lucky as I have access to both menus. I have just started to try and lose my baby weight (no longer nursing). I'm currently on day 4 and already feel lighter, but I only weigh myself once a week, so I'll keep you posted. If you take a multi-vit during the diet you should be fine. | ||

Out of morbid curiosity I looked at this a couple of years ago, and it's nothing ground breaking folks. Chicken, tuna, fruit, veggies, etc. Here's a link that I find is better than the one posted. The one posted looks like an advertisement for the site. This one talks about what's in the diet. http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2005/05/09/analyzing_weigh t_loss_4_idiots_aka_fat_loss_4_idiots.php |

Hey spirochete, thanks for the link. I read the review you posted and then the one that jessyd posted. Both were very interesting. I liked the fact that the one jessy posted had feedbacks by people who used the diet. I'm thinking about starting it myself |

| The diet isn't "low carb" as such. Some days your eat sandwhiches. You get to have condiments with carbs in them (bbq sauce, ketchup, fatfree salad dressing). You never starve on the diet. It works on the principles of age old body building pre-comp fat stipping which is rotating calories and proteins and carbs to trick your metabolism (apparently your metabolism has a memory). So from what I have deduced is the diet works on portion control, eliminating sugary drinks, calorie rotation. It's not the same as low carb diets as it doesn't put you into ketosis. Low carb diets working on this principle are the ones that cause you to put all of your weight in the first week you start eating normal food. FL4i doesn't. You'll keep it off as long as you don't ever stuff yourself full. Sorry, I can't type out the diet. It's too long. Every day out of the 11 is different and there are specific food prep guidelines. You have to change your menu every 11 days anyway to keep tricking your metabolism. | ||

| hello - this is a new forum for me. i googled "idiot-proof diet" and found this site. i just started this diet on thursday (4 days ago). i've lost 4 pounds so far. i realize i'm losing water-weight right now (one of the "rules" of this diet is to drink 10 glasses of water/day)... we'll see if it keeps working over time. if anyone is interested, i'll try keep you up-to-date with how it's going! | ||

| btw, for those of you interested in a sample day, today i ate: breakfast: sausage & eggs; lunch: shrimp (i skipped the eggs, but they were allowed for lunch); snack: walnuts, cheese slices, strawberries; dinner: grilled flounder (it was supposed to be broiled, but i figured it's the same) & cashews. i drink at least 10 8 oz. glasses of water/day. hope this helps those of you who are interested. | ||

so today is one week on this diet (WL4I). so far i've lost 9 pounds. i've been EXTREMELY good about following the "rules:" eat only what's on the menu, drink lots of water, & eat until satisfied, not full. i'm totally excited that it's working. i'm using it as a jump start to a change in lifestyle, not for results over time.
i want to lose 40 pounds. start weight = 175. height = 5'3". frame = medium. goal weight = 135. i know that this is not the best diet to use forever, but i think it's a good starting point and offers fast positive reinforcement for those of us who need that. as with anything, study the choices and make a decision based on what would work for you. happy day. :) |

| I looked at this diet as a possibility but I'm a little cautious with things like this. This forum is VERY helpful, I might have to give this diet a try. Thank You | ||

I haven't looked at it (Idiot-Proof, etc) in depth but it seems a lot like something I read a year or so ago (The Fat Burning Diet Book by Jay Robb ...Carb Cycling: The easy way to burn fat and boost energy!). I never got around to trying because I'm too lazy to do anything but buy books and read them (ha-ha). It does seem logical though. I looked for the book but can't find it right now (I don't clean house either) but it's detailed on his website http://www.jayrobb.com/books.asp Reading these forums are inspiring me though...I might actually get off my "fatty assets" and do something about it one of these days. |

| Hi, I finished the 1st cycle of Fat Loss 4 Idiots. I lost 6 pounds. At first I was disappointed because the diet said I would lose 9 in the 1st cycle. But after a while I was happy. So what if it was a bit slow? At least I lost some weight. I guess that bit about losing 9 pounds was some marketing hype aimed at selling more and not everyone does so well. I'll post again when I finish the second cycle. I hope I do at least as well as the 1st | ||

I don't believe that someone should be capatilizing on the unknown (i.e. you can't see the diet until you pay for it). Guess there's not really another way, but here's to hoping someone that bit the bullet will spread the wealth to the CC community so we can also see what this honestly is all about.

| I think the name of this diet says it all. 4 idiots. I have tried every crash diet on the planet and all it has done is slowed my metabolism, challenged my self esteem, and weakened my bones. How's that working for you? | ||

Sorry for bringing up such an old thread. I saw multiple requests for samples of the diet. I thought I'd post mine. |

I looked at this diet and one of the first things I noticed was that they were making some unsupportable claims. Here is one: Low-fat diets don't work. The number of low-fat foods on the market has exploded and obesity continues to rise. So eating low-fat foods won't help you lose weight. For anyone with a brain, it is easy to see the logical fallacy in this statement. Even though the number of low-fat foods on the market has exploded and obesity continues to rise, they say that low-fat foods don't help you lose weight. You can't make that correlation because even though there are lots of low-fat foods out there, that doesn't mean that everyone is eating them. In fact, studies have shown that people are eating out more, eating more fast food, and generally not eating enough healthy foods. So if this diet is based on a faulty premise like this one, I would have no faith in it at all. There may be some good things about this diet, but when the site trying to sell me this diet plan starts out with a premise that is so obviously flawed, then I'm not going to waste my money on it. To me the diet should be called "Weight Loss BY Idiots". |
