Why is everyone buying into the 100 calorie pack hype????

This whole thing really irritates me! When you buy hundred calorie packs, you are basically just getting single portion packaging. You get many less oz. and pay far more for it. I know it's convenient, but I find it much more cost conscious to just buy normal or light products and split them into baggies of the correct portion!

I also don't want to pay more for less, and yet when I mentioned that I use little baggies to portion my own snacks, some troll chastised me for filling our landfills with all this trash that would never disappear.  We can't win!

Don't let those people try to guilt you.  I divide my foods into ziplocs, too. Yet I live an earth friendly, low consumption lifestyle.  Aren't we allowed to do one bad thing?  Give me a break.  All that fruit and vegetables we eat doesn't consume 1/10 the petrol and resources required to process and manufacture food.  I just prefer to save the money for fun things, like the occassional movie ticket.  Also, I find it  extremely difficult to control my sodium when consuming processed food.

The hundred calorie packs don't strike me as pointless as the hundred calorie candy bars.  Most fun-size bars are around a hundred calories anyway; some are even less.

I completely agree with you and it is cheaper to buy it in large amounts and then separate it yourself.  I don't buy 100 calorie packs in the first place (if I'm going to eat well, I'm not going to buy stupid "light" cookies or something, just my personal opinion) but if I were too I'd do what you do.
