Both labled WHOLE GRAIN... which bread is better? :edited: not wheat lochloch

I have 2 packs of yummy bread :]

on the front, they both say whole wheat, but ......
Which should i eat?

#1:
title: Soft and tasty whole grain white
ENRICHED
2= 150 cal
calcium 25
vitamin D 25
Riboflabvin 10
Folic Acid 15
Iron 15
Thiamin 15
Niacin 10

about 30 ingrediants

#2:
title: 100% whole wheat made with 100% whole grain
WHOLE WHEAT FLOUr
2=200 cal
calcium4
iron 4
thiamin 4
riboflavin 2
Niacin 6
Folic Acid 2

about 15 ingrediants

The both have high fructose corn syrup



which pack seems healthier? both is labled whole wheat but one is enriched with more vitamins while the other ones not enriched *healthier* but not as much vitamin...

How big is each piece, and how filling are they, comparatively?

How much fiber?

Does one have high fructose corn syrup?

Which has less ingredients?

I aim for getting the highest amount of fiber and no HFCS.  Right now I'm eating oroweat 7 grain.  Enriched means they've added B vitamins.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was always under the impression that "enriched" should be avoided.

i thought so too but the ones thats enriched has 25% CALCIUM O_O and more nutrition parts

I actually like the taste of the enriched better but have been trying to avoid it because of my confusion and lack of knowledge. 

IF it were me I'd go for the lower cal "enriched" bread and get in the extra vitamins.  Would you be able to take the other back though?

I tend to lean toward foods with lesser ingredients, if they are already in my pantry. However, in the future, go for foods w/o the HFCS! Whole grains are what you're after. Do some online research to find what's best and readily available to YOU in your area personally!

our fam. has 3 diff types of bread...... i jsut wanted to know which was healthier  :P)

When I choose bread I go for the one with the fewest ingredients and/or the most fiber.

I cannot trust a bread that has whole grain and white in the same name. It is only whole wheat if the first ingredient is whole wheat flour or stone ground whole wheat flour. Anything that starts out as unbleached or enriched is not whole grain.

id rather eat the #2, but both are bad breads that id never buy.

 I can't really judge between the two breads without the ingredient list... but I would agree that if the breads are white - the majority of the benefits are missing!

I would go for #2, I have a tendency to eat whole grains, and not enriched flour. I was told the enriched just means a lot of things have been put into it. I bake from scratch and I use whole wheat flour when baking...may not mean anything but I like the taste of it......

Just yesterday I was listening to a radio program which discussed this topic... what "enriched" means... Now mind you, I'm typing this from memory so here goes! What they do is process the flour to actually remove all the fiber and good for you nutrients. What this does is create a longer shelf life for the bread. Then after analysis it's realized that there is essentially no nutrition left so that's where the additives come back into play. Go with bread that labels whole grains or whole wheat as the FIRST ingredient and lean toward one that has no high fructose corn syrup.

I'm in the process of finding a good recipe to make my own bread. It'll be cheaper in the long run and I'll know exactly what is in it!
