Openings in support group for 20-SOMETHINGS- CLOSED!!! (Look for future openings if interested) xzcandizx
  May 20 2008 22:57

Some spots have opening in the 20-somethings support group.  This group is for those who are very committed and want to loose 20+ pounds over the next several months.  We have weekly weigh-ins on Mondays (although if you take your weights at a different time in the week that is ok, they all should be posted by midnight on monday if you would like them to count for that week).  This is a small group has been in progress for about a month and a half, so you haven't missed out on too much yet!

Because of the size of the group, the goal is to have everyone be extremely involved.  There are weekly "challenges" that are for personal gain (or loss!).  For example the challenge this week is to try and eat more fiber.  We are here to support each other and the goal is to post often and update each other on how we are doing, give advice and just be there for each other.  Because of that only people who are looking to participate in those things should answer.  We are looking for up to SEVEN people to join the group and no more, to have the group stay small at 15 people.  So if you are interested and would like to particpate please write a little bit about yourself and your situation and post the following data:

Age:

Starting Weight (SW):

Current Weight (CW):

Goal Weight (GW):

Goal Date (GD): If you have one, if not that's fine too.

Please only those who are really committed, and can see themselves as least posting through the summer (and at least 2x/week) should post.

If you all could give a little more of a background on your weight loss journey that would be great.  So far sounds good!  I will message all who join and give you the info to get to the group.

Oh gee where do i start..

I was always a small kid, but once puberty struck..i was doomed. I stayed off the scale for years, so I really don't know what my highest weight was..my sophmore year in college I traveled to Australia and Fiji for 5 weeks and lost roughly 25 pounds in that time ( i have NO idea how.. i wish i did, because i wasn't even trying!). I felt really good about myself when i got back, bc everyone noticed and commented how i had lost so much weight... but as the months went on i slowly gained some of it back.

I have always been interested in the "healthy lifestyle" and now i am fully into it.. I want to get to a weight where I feel comfortable.. so what ever that weight is, then so be it. Right now i am just focusing on the now and dealing with my weight one day at a time. I know eventually if i keep focused and determined i will reach my goal. Its not a race, because i know in the long run i will be more determined to keep it off, because its soooo much hard work to get where you would like to be!!

Hey there.  I've been on this site for a long time, and within the past few months, I've decided this is *it*.  I joined a gym, and I try to go regularly.  When I fall off track, which I've recently been doing (due to crazy amounts of work and homework), I schedule a PT appointment so that I *have* to go to the gym.  I've got one Friday.

I'm currently hovering at 170 (which was a struggle to get down to again after gaining what I'd lost and then maintaining closer to 180 for a while), and my goal is to get down to a healthy BMI (which is around 140 or so).  In a perfect world, it would happen as fast as it naturally can, but I'm human, and humans aren't perfect.  I'd be happy losing 5 lbs a month.

I think being in a group where I want and need to post several times a week will help me be more accountable by helping others do the same.  Also, it might help distract me from wanting to eat so often ;-)

I'd be interested although i don't exactly fit the criteria since as of now i have about 10 pounds to loose... but would still love to join if that's not a big deal- extra support is always great!

I joined CC feb 1st and have loved it so far. I was always a little bit larger growing up and went i went to college i started doing alot more walking and dancing (when i joined a swing dance team) and lost probably around 10 or 15 pounds- i felt great! then somehow the last few years of college went by and the weight had all come back... i think it was combination of being busy with classes and work and really just not eating as healthy as i could have been. Well, now that i am at a desk job all day i figured i'd better start doing something or it would just keep getting worse! Now i love eating my lunch at work and getting all the comments that i am the "healthy one"!

I would really like to join this group and could really use the encouragement.  I just started so SW and CW are the same.

Age: 24

CW/SW: 185 (I'm guessing but have been scared to weight myself so far)

GW: 140 would be lovely, but ideal would be 120

I have struggledwith my weight for as long as I can remember.  Never really in the respect of being obese, but rather obsessed with not becoming so.  In the second grade I remember making a commitment to run around my house 5 times each day to lose weight.  I struggled with eating disorders in middle school and was very committed to eating right and exercising in high school.  In college (after the freshman 15 as well as breaking my ankle and foot) I gained weight but was able to maintain a healthy (and sexy, curvy) 140 pounds.  Since graduating 3 years ago I have gained (gasp) about 45 pounds.  For the first two years after college I gained weight but only about a pound a month and in the last year I have gained quite rapidly (about 2 pounds or more a month).  My life, to be honest, is wonderful.  I have a great job - an incredible career, a beautiful home, a supportive family and an amazing man in my life but this seems to be the one thing I just can't get right.

My SO and I have been together for the last 4 years so he has really seen the changes in me.  I know he loves me and is incredibly encouraging and supportive, but I'm just absolutely not the woman he fell in love with.  I'm a smart girl and have always been very disciplined and determined at everything, I just need to apply those skills to the weight loss process.  I need your help and I promise to be helpful as well.

Hi all, my name is Elizabeth.  I don't really remember how I stumbled upon this site, but it's been really great so far!  I'm looking to loose weight to just feel healthy, but an added benifit is for my wedding in October.  I know it's shallow, but I just can't imagine having pictures of myself on that day looking like I look now.  Of course I don't feel fat until I see a pic of myself...lol, just more motivation I guess!  It's great to have buddies that are working for the same goals as you...helps to keep you on track. :)

Hi! My name is Megan.  I lost about 25 lbs. (it fluctuates) over 2 years ago and have recently gained a little back.  I am looking to lose what I gained back and then some.  It's been a goal of mine since the beginning of the year and just haven't found the motivation to do anything about it.  This time I'm serious.

SW:  183 lbs (2005)

CW:  158 lbs

GW:  142 lbs (by September bc my best friend's wedding is then)
