What kind of food, vitamin or natural supplement has helped you lose weight the most? ajde

I know that there's a billion things out there that people can say help weight loss... Green tea is supposed to boost metabolism, hoodia is supposed to suppress appetite... But what's worked for you?

For me, I'm starting to see that fish oil pills, kombucha, and green tea are a great combination. When I have all three throughout the day, I don't have as wild of cravings as I normally would. I have some leftover pure hoodia from last year that I might start again in this combination in the hopes that this will help control my appetite, without having to ingest anything unnatural or dangerous.

I'm just curious, since I can use all the help I can get. Any miracles you've found?

Um... definitely not here to get hit on. Why don't you take yourself over to adultfriendfinder instead. I bet you can find some real nice ladies for yourself.

Gross.

There's no magical food or pill. Counting calories is what matters.

I know. I've been dieting long enough to realize that every day I don't count every calorie, I can easily go over. However, there are certain things that help satisfy your appetite more than others, and keep your food cravings under control. I'm careful about what I eat but that doesn't stop me from getting really hungry sometimes. So, I'm just looking for healthy things I can eat or take that help the process to be more effective.

Keep the processed foods and high sodium foods to a minimum.  Have plenty of fiber, protein, and good fats, and that will keep you satisfied longer.

I also drink kombucha and green tea all the time.  Great stuff.  And I take 1-2 tbsp Barlean's high lignan flax oil daily (keeps my skin and hair and digestion in good condition, and supposedly helps keep appetite under control).  Pills like hoodia and (back in the day) ephedra never did a thing for me.  I take a multi every day, and when I'm PMS-ing, taking Cal-Mag pills helps a little.

For snacks/meals, I also like plain kefir with fruit.  Kefir's better than yogurt and even has some fiber.  A bowl of old-fashioned oats with 1/4 cup raw wheat germ plus an egg fried in a tsp extra virgin olive oil is one of those perfect meals that keeps me full and is great on nutrition.  There is no single "miracle" out there.  But having a good combination of things and a relatively clean diet keeps me from craving junk like I used to.

Counting calories is the thing, yeah, but if I have 1600 calories of salty processed foods, I'll be bloated and still hungry.  But if I have 1600 calories of balanced nourishing whole foods, I'm good for the day!  Good luck, and let us know if you find anything else that works for you.

Protein.  And fat.  Not a lot of fat, but after switching to lowfat instead of nonfat dairy products, adding a few nuts, and bringing my fat consumption up to 15% or higher, I am so much less cravy.

Protein keeps me from getting hungry like nothing else.  Also whole grains and anything with a veeerrrryy  slooooow glycemic response.  Protein is the miracle for me, especially at breakfast.

I take a multivitamin, calcium and fish oil, and they all help.  Calcium after a hard workout especially.  I used to drink green tea, and it seemed to curb my appetite a little - but I don't need it anymore since I started eating more protein.

I swear by pulses or legumes....   Beans, lentils, chickpeas etc., are incredibly nutritious, really versatile, high fibre, low fat, low cal and - best of all - dirt cheap!   Since including more vegetarian, bean-based meals in my diet I've found I'm satisfied with much smaller portions.

I add soy (tofu, nuts, milk), walnuts, and pistachio nuts to the above as well. They help me from getting hungry, taste good, and are good for cholesterol as well.
