| How many calories? | ||

| I am an 18 year old female. A couple years ago i lost a lot of weight in an unhealthy way by restricting. Once I started eating normally again, the weight came back. Last summer I struggled with bulemia and and finishing up some therapy right now to work that out. Right now, i really want to lose the weight in a healthy way. But every time I try, it doesn't work which is discouraging because I don't want to slip into bad habits. I joined a gym, saw a nutritionist and really want to do this the right way. My question is this. I am about 144 pounds, 5'5" and would like to get to about 125. With the calorie calculator, it said that i should eat around 1300/day to get to about 135 by June 20. Now, is that 1300 with exercise? So i can exercise for 30-60 minutes/day and be eating 1300? Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it! |

that is 1300 calories without exercise. If you are exercising you would need more calories intake. |

| Because you're not overweight you should expect to lose only around 1lb or possibly 1.5lbs a week. If you set your activity level as 'light' and the target date for 10 weeks' time rather than 4 you'd get a higher calorie intake to aim for. | ||

That calorie intake is with a moderate activity. Theres no way to lose more? I'm so confused! How much should I be eating?! |

| Then 1800 calories? That is with exercise for 30-60 min/day. That seems like a LOT of calories...How fast of weight loss would that be? It just doesn't seem right that I could lose weight by eating 1800 calories | ||

hey im in a similar situation, im 19 lost a lot of weight last year very unhealthily but im gonna try to do it better this time after i gained it all back at my first year at college. im the same height at 140, i have my calorie goal set at 1500 which should be enough for me to loose the weight I want by the time I go back to school so im sure even 1800 will work for you especially with exercising be cause the calorie level to maintain your weight is most likely over 2000 |

I went to a doctor, & That is exactly what I am supposed to do. 1300 calories a day with at least 30 minute workouts a day. But you eat all day, 5 times. 300 calories for breakfast, lunch and dinner..and then 200 calories for the snacks inbetween meals. Also take your vitamines, and to start out with just an apetite supresser really helps so you dont feel like your starving yourself. (but dont over take or think its a magical pill) you still need to eat the 5 times a day and work out. Good Luck :) |

Original Post by uuduck25: Try entering your stats in this site : http://www.phord.com/cc/ I calculated that you should be eating between 1400 - 1600 calories on days you work out, and about 1400 calories on days you are sedentary. |

im 19 and 5'5" and last november i was 150 and started losing about 2lbs/week by restricting my calories to 1300 (1500 on exercise days). its important to also workout though...i started working out about 5xweek and it boosted my metabolism without a doubt.
i just made sure i didn't go over 1500 cals per day and that i had at least a 500 cal deficit. im now at 130! just like you i want to get to 125. you can do it!! if i can, then you can =) |

you really shouldnt use online calculators, you got to do trial and error with your scale and diet... the online one doesnt ask for your bf% so it wouldnt know... remmeber muscle burns more calories than fat... |
