| When to weigh?? | ||
| May 18 2008 19:03 | ||
This is probably pretty straight forward - the obvious answer is it doesn't really matter what time of day you step on the scale, as long as you consistently do it at the same time every day. When I weigh first thing in the morning, I'm lighter, this is because I'm losing water weight throughout the night. So, every morning it's consistent. But here's the dilemma, if I go to the doctor for some reason (or when I was weighing in for the military), in the afternoon I can weigh up to 8 pounds more. Ok, so I'll have clothes on versus being stark naked out of the shower, but still, it's a little bit of a hit to the ego ya know? Any thoughts? |

yeah thats annoying....my last doc experience was the opposite...it said I was like 10 pounds lighter than the scale at the gym (both are the old fashion slide type)...It was quite the WTF moment. I just tend to ignore that number and just count the number on the scale Ive been using regularly
You can always stand backwards and ask the nurse not to tell you the weight :) |

Not me, I think I gain weight breathing or something. You look great by the way, your pictures are pretty inspiring! |

You think the sliders or digital scales are better? I have a digital one at home...don't use the slider at the gym. |

Not sure which I think are better.....the key is consistency. Use the same scale to measure your progress. I have a digital scale but it's off by 1 lb. I put a 30 lb weight on it and it reads 31 lbs. ~H~ |

I think for ease of use a digital scale is better. I do weigh myself at the gym sometimes to see if the readings match up because as haley_2008 has pointed the scales can be off. As for when you weigh yourself, well you've answered your question. Best time is in the morning. I find that my weight fluctuates throughout the day. But don't get concerned about it. So long as my saturday weigh-in shows that I've lost weight I'm happy :) |

The morning is usually the best time for me (whenever I do get around to weighing myself), because when I eat throughout the day the food in my stomach/the water I drink makes me weigh more. Really the best time is in the morning, after using the bathroom. (In my opinion at least!) |

Yeah, I always feel kinda like I'm cheating. Before breakfast, after the can, as soon as I roll out of bed, zero clothes.
I guess we're not all dumb bells with standard non-changing weights. Oh well, all the better to lose it. Thanks for the replies! |
