| Am I Being Stupid or Whuut? | ||

A week ago, I found 1700 cals a day hard to stick to as I was starrrrving the entire time. A week and a bit has gone by, and now I'm finding it practically impossible to eat enough. Weird I know, I used to be the person who ate everyone else's leftovers.
This is probably a common n00bish comment, and I'm sorry for adding to an influx of "WAAAAAAAA I DUNNO WHAT I'M DOING!" messages, but I really am starting to thinnk I'm going to make myself ill.
I know 1000 cals is the minimum you should eat. But (for example) yesterday I ate as much as I could, and I was still 500 cals under. Today i'm about 600 under. Am I doing damage? Am I ruining my good progress? I've heard of "starvation mode"...it sounds ominous, I don't want that to happen :( |

Thats funny, I sort of have had the some problems. But anyways, you should really try to aim for 1000 calories at least. Eating lots of small snacks throughout the day will make you feel less full and is also healthier (instead of, say, eating 2 big meals and starving for the rest of the day).
Good luck! ;) |

I'm gonna concentrate on shaking this sickly feeling (I had LOADS of spag bol for tea....errghhhh, I feel like a massive baked potato :( ) and then have a bit of melon to add my calories up. OOOH, maybe some milkshake too. Well. Maybe not. Let's not overdo it haha. Baby steps! |

NONONONOoooOOoooo...that's not what I meant... I'm 500-600 cals UNDER my 1700 target. God, if I only ate 500 cals a day I'd be eating my own cat in my sleep! |

oh ok...I was like..."what?! who thinks thats ok" but you should still probably eat more than 1000 cals unless you are like 4 feet tall and have an ultra small body type :P btw I love your blog...cracks me up. |

ah just that part about your mom running 902938429384 miles and eating small portions of cottage cheese :) no wonder shes so small! haha I think one or two days occasionally wont hurt anything...sometimes Im just not hungry (or I sleep all day)...but I wouldnt do it on a long term basis.
(I added you as a friend, you look like an interesting person to keep up with) |

Women should get no less than 1200 cals/day. The 1200 cals is for a woman who is about 5'0 and of very small stature so I assume you need more. Use the calculator that CC gives you under tools to find out how much you need. Bulk up your calories with nuts, beans, healthy fats, and fruits higher in calories. |

Hi shinybiscuit ~ To lose weight, you will need to have a calorie deficit. The easiest way to make sure that you are in a deficit is by monitoring your Eat Meter and Burn Meter on your My Account page. Do you add your exercise and activities to your Activity Log? If so, it will automatically update your calories burned in your Burn Meter. As long as you have a deficit, you should lose weight. As mentioned above, a woman should not go below 1200 calories and most women need more especially if active. As for whether or not under-eating can do damage to your body, here are some links that may be helpful.

Heh, I got it wrong, I'm actually 162lbs (wishful thinking?) but thanks for the links and whatnot, I'm going to try my best to eat properly today. I'm gonna make sandwiches for work and EVERYTHING!
I do add my excercise into my activity log, but not my everyday tasks - I figured logging watching tv was a step too far, but should I do this? |

I know that some people do log all their everyday activities such as tv watching, driving, and such. I, however, do not. I just set my activity to "Light" since I do not sit down all day long and log all my exercises. |

She's taken to sleeping in the spare room since I started this diet. Perhaps she's worked out the implications of me being deprived of Kinder eggs for the forseeable future... |
