| "Anything in Moderation is Good"...what about the opposite? | ||
| May 18 2008 17:56 | ||
| I know that everyone says that you can eat anything and still lose weight as long as you eat it in moderation. Basically this means that "anything in moderation is good." Well, if something is eaten too much, does that make it bad? For instance, my new splurge so to speak is a tall, non fat, caramel light frappuccino from starbucks made with sugar free syrup (110 cals). I don't go and get it myself, but on the weekends my dad always goes out and gets my little sister something, and since i'm real close to her she guilts me into getting something as well. I can very easily fit the 110 cals into my daily allowance especially since I work out every day (running for about 6 miles), but is it bad if I have it two days in a row? It tastes so good that I think it will make me gain weight, but looking at it objectively, it shouldn't because it's low in calories and really not made with anything bad besides the sugar free syrup (lots of chemicals). Any opinions? | ||

If you are fitting it into your calories then it won't make you gain weight. |

| A frothy coffee once a day isn't going to kill you | ||

hmm well if youre worried about chemicals...the light frappuccino base is made with sucralose as well. i work @ starbucks, & i can tell you that if youre trying to avoid anything artificial, dont eat any of the reduced fat pastries or syrups or light base stuff. but im pretty sure those sugar free syrups have GOTTA be a chemical nightmare. my FAVORITE indulgence is a toffee nut frappuccino lite...a tall is only 100 cals :) the caramel SAUCE is LOADED with calories, and trust me, if youre getting caramel on top, its definitely not just an extra 10 cals...we're trained to put more than standard on |

| I wouldn't get it with caramel sauce or whipped cream. It would be a tall, caramel, light frappuccino made with the sugar free syrup. | ||

| honestly, i think it's a great thing that you can indulge a little. don't feel guilty! yes, 110 calories for a beverage may not be the best thing.. but considering you can suck down 600+ calories in one drink from the same coffee shop, i think you're making a wise decision. a few chemicals every now and then won't hurt, and just because you have a small splurge 2-3 days in a row doesn't mean you'll gain weight. enjoy your life! | ||

| I think that is fine. I think that IS moderation. To me the opposite of 'anything in moderation is good' is 'losing control and eating way more than planned to'. | ||

they are artificially sweetened, but for a muffin, i guess its not too bad, coming in @ 300 calories, & 4 grams of fat. but i think that most of the pastries we sell are totally unfit for a nutritious well-balanced breakfast :( but occasionally as a treat, they're really yummy :) |

| you look so unhappy in your pictures, you need a coffee drink with real sugar to perk that face up. | ||
