I feel like im the ONLY one! .

* what motivates you to loose the weight ?

* have you lost any yet?

* how long have you been on the site?

. . . i'm nosey!

May 18th, 2008

 :D :D :D :D

I'm so happy that there are so many responses to this question. And im even happier that people are so honest and open as to why they chose to well... take the journey. Whether your trying to just be healthier, or fit into your bathing suits, im loving the fact that i got the answers i did.

To answer my own questions;

I am 19 turning 20 soon.

What motivates me to loose the weight, I'm not gonna lie is the desire to fit into a bathing suit, and walk down a beach without feeling self conscious. But I'm mostly doing this because ive heard the words " and she was with this really fat girl." that was my breaking point. yep. that was it. never in my life have i been the "really fat girl. I was always the chubby girl. or the fat girl. but NEVER have i been called "the really fat girl".

Ive lost 20-22 pounds depending on the day, I started in january at 181 pounds and depending on the day lately im 159-161 ive been that way for a little over a month ( only myself to blame)

I've been on the site since january 29th. i started with someone, and theyve lost pretty much the same amount as me.

AND TO BE HONEST I DONT CARE WHO COMES HERE!!! lol I WAS LOOKING FOR A CENTER OF YOUNGER PEOPLE.

and like i said ... i think its amazing the amount of people who responded to this.

I'm happy there are people my age who have some type of weight loss goals besides me.

and now, FOR MORE QUESTIONS!

:)

Does anyone have a cheat day? do you feel guilty afterward?

I'm having a hard time with mine, its on sundays, i eat so much i get sick, and also gain the weight back ive lost through the week, which is usually like a pound.... So when i gain that poind back i feel bad.... i was so proud of that measley little pound!!!

Which leads me to my next question.

Has anyone here resolved to limit an exercize regimine untill they've lost more weight?

I walk to and from work ( not too far) i clean my house, take the sairs at work, and i stand at work all day so its not like im sedentary but im wondering if i should do cardio and stuff besides that to burn cals..... anyone?

Peace,Love, and happiness,

sweetness.

From what I've read about you all,

a lot of you seem to be on the right track.

But there's a few of you that just cant seem to stop.

I know I'm not perfect

but I'm going to be honest.

There are those of you who are dropping WAY below an appropriate weight for your age, and probably your height as well.

The goal is to be healthy, not model skinny.

The point is to be at a point where you are fit,

no the point where you can fit into a size zero, because to be really honest,

its unhealthy, and unrealistic.

Its a fact.

the two most bought sizes in jeans in this country are 0, 12, and 16.

what does this say?

its a fact.

The desire to look like models have driven CHILDREN under the age of 10 to diet under no duress. This is unnacceptable because their bodies havent even finished GROWING yet. People under the age of 21 should not try to be under their BMI reccomended weight because of dangers of malnutrition, which decreases potential of body development and growth.

I appreciate honesty. And i maintain that I am not judging any of you, because it is SO easy to control weight, and become obsessed with it. I'm just saying its necessary to be carefull. I understand if you are naturally at a body weight that is low, that is through no fault of your own.

If you dont believe me, read up on it. READ , learn what being too skinny can do to you.

Ooohh I'm here (21 at that). Hi ya!

* what motivates you to loose the weight ?---- Oh gosh don't even get me started on this, so many things, so many! BUT, the top will be for myself. I want to have a healthier lifestyle and live it that way. It's been so long that I have let myself go and it just makes me so sad that all those wasted years I could've done something but never really did anything for blankety blank reasons. However, I also want to gain more self-confidence and just have that feeling of being sexy. I mean I know my bf says that I look sexy to him, well it does make me feel better, but for myself...well, no I really don't. And also maybe because I didn't really give a big whoop about what I ate and the impact it had on me. I started to have less energy and just be so darn lazy! Ugh... no motivation at all, but that all changed. =D

* have you lost any yet?----Yes I have actually. I used to be in the 150s range...*shudders* and my face was sooo round! I think I even reached 160s when I was a senior in high school ohh...couple of years or so ago. And boy! My face was thheeeee roundest of all the group shots! Yikes! Now I'm leaning down to that low 140's end...and it's just the beginning.

* how long have you been on the site?----Let's see... haha..since Dec 07. But I was just blah blah blah I will do it later... -_- ehh... didn't really jump on this thing til January/February.

Sooo..... what about YOU???

Have a nice day

#3 laur3nmae May 17 2008 07:31

Im 18 :)

* what motivates you to lose the weight? Ive put on a bit since coming to university and I wanna stop before I become a whale before the end of the year!

* have you lost any yet? Well I don't have any scales so I haven't weighed myself since feb but I'm pretty sure I've lost some off my stomach since I started coming back on this site a few weeks ago

* how long have you been on the site? About a year and a bit? I used it on and off last year and have just come back to it and realised how gooood it is :)

#4 shinybiscuit May 17 2008 07:43

*waves*

I'm 20!! And also hello, nice to meet you :)

*What motivates me to lose weight.....My favourite shirt doesn't fit me anymore :( but also, I've been meaning to go on a diet for ages, although my bf began by telling me not to go on a diet because I was fine (along with all of my friends too) he's really supportive of me now, which is good, because now I have a reason to carry on - I don't want to dissapoint him! I need pushes like this, or I won't carry on. I'm not massively overweight, I'm 163 (I think - check my profile for my real weight, I can't remember it right now, I've just woken up :p) but honestly you can't tell unless I'm wearing just my underwear. Then my portly-ness shines through hahaha. I wanna get down to 130, then we'll see where I go from there.

*Have I lost any yet?....yep! A week and I've lost 6lbs!! Can you even believe it?!

*I've been on the site for about a week now, and I love it!

#5 armandleg May 17 2008 11:29

I'm twenty years old. =)

Currently trying to lose weight for health and appearance reasons. I used to be thinner than this (not much thinner, but still thinner), but at least then I was healthier than I am now. My health hasn't been quite the same as it used to be, so I want my awesome immune system back.

At this point in time, I've lost about 15lbs. 10 of those were lost without the help of CC, and I got stuck because I was probably eating too little (or underestimating how much I was eating--I'm not really certain of which, at this point), but with the help of CC I've lost about 5lbs and I'll have been on this site for about a month.  Which is a good thing, because if I lose anymore weight this month I'll be put ahead of my goal for month three. March 1st was the start of my lifestyle change; I wanted to lose 5lbs per month until Evan (my husband) comes home from Iraq. This will hopefully put me below 200lbs. <3 (Not my goal weight...but it is my short-term weight loss goal)

*raises  hand*  I'm 20.

Of course I'm here to lose weight, but my primary concern is to overcome my binge eating disorder and bulimic tendencies.  Pre-BED I used to be rather thin, but I was a terrible eater. I'm pretty much here for support and information on how to eat properly.

Sadly my binge eating disorder is terrible and I have only gained.

I've been lurking on this site since September but actually joined in November.

#7 chompforchange May 17 2008 14:11

Hey! 20 here! Well..ALMOST 20, birthday sooooo soon!  I'm glad someone created this group!  '

what motivates you to loose the weight*: I put on 12 pounds in ONE (last) semester at college! Freshman 15? No one warned me a/b sophomore 15!

have you lost any yet?I'm def easily effected by the number on the scale if I don't see progress-and I actually saw that I've GAINED 3 pounds, but I know I'm losing inches b/c I was training pretty hardcore for 5 months and know I put on a lot of muscle....which I'm actually trying to take it easy to lose a little bit so I'm not as bulky in the legs.

* how long have you been on the site-HAHA-would you believe I started off on this site for tips to gain weight in the healthiest way possible? I always felt a little awkward a/b my body (5'7 110-114lbs).  Fast forward one year lata, 5'7-130 pounds! Now...I'm just trying to find that middle ground..

#8 katepoo May 17 2008 16:26

I'm 18 too :)

What motivates you to loose the weight ?

Oh God. Uh, looking in the mirror? Seeing the number on the scale? Hearing mean comments from my parents (who are both obese)? Yeah, most of my motivation is pretty negative.

Have you lost any yet?

12 lbs since mid-February. Not a lot of weight, but since I've never lost more than 2lbs on a diet, I'm pretty proud of myself.

how long have you been on the site?

Hm, on and off for about 6-8 months. I started getting really into it here about a week ago. I have a few different websites like this that I like to visit, so until about 2 weeks ago I was only reading the forums here. www.prevention.com is also a pretty good site, I like their tracking tools.

#10 cfh1027 May 17 2008 16:43

I'm twenty

* what motivates you to loose the weight ?

I'd been the exact same weight since about sixth grade (yea I was a little pudgy then) but I mostly grew into it although I always weighed a little more than I wanted to.  Then fall quarter I put on another five pounds and decided it was time to do something.

* have you lost any yet?

Yep, about 15 lbs total, 9 since I joined here.

* how long have you been on the site?

I don't remember exactly.  About a quarter.

#11 yoonheedme May 17 2008 17:48

Am I allowed in here? Lol. I turned 22 a few months ago.

1. A lot of different factors. I was depressed at how my body and health regressed and yo-yoed after being fit, toned and healthy during high school (I was a three-season athlete). I felt unhappy with the way I looked and kicked myself for letting my weight burgeon to 155 lb. I knew that because I was still really young, I could make significant changes early and prevent myself from getting heavier. From what I can see, it only gets harder as you get older (metabolism, busy schedule) so I put my foot down and decided to prevent my total decline into becoming a prisoner in my own body.

2. Yes! From a high point of 155, I am now about 119 lb. 4 lb left to my goal. I made a lot of educated decisions to change to a whole-foods / clean eating LIFESTYLE (not short-term diet) and eased into it. I got back into working on my fitness (slowly). I worked hard, but not to the point where food and diet consumed my life as it had when I was anorexic at 16- about 98 lb and 5'4" (which sent me to rehab). Calorie-count's food tools helped me in the beginning, when I was stricter and felt I needed to know the calorie content of EVERYTHING I ate. But now I just eat foods that I know are good for me, in satisfying portions and balanced with a large amount of fresh fruit and veggies.

3. I registered back in early 2007, but didn't begin using CC's resources until a few months ago. Glad I did though. It's the only thing that has kept me on a healthy track thus far.

#12 kel_e May 17 2008 20:04

I am 19

I want to be healthy, and I want to be thin :)

Nothing much yet, I maybe lost 1lb, but I just started 4 days ago.

I have been on this site for about 4 days :)

#13 lisaplaysflute May 17 2008 22:15

I'm 19!!

Hmmm what motivates me...well I can find an excuse to do about anything so I have a list of a ton of reasons to keep going.  They range from just the plain old I want to be healthier to anything as petty as to fit into a new dress. Anything that gets me on the treadmill and away from the junk is a good enough reason for me.  But when it comes down to it, bad knees and hips run in my family and a lot of the trouble is weight.  So I figure if I take off the weight now, I will have less trouble in my adult life.

I have lost about 3 pounds so far!  I've been eating healthier and going to the gym for a week now.

I've been on and off this site over the past year.  This is really the first time I've buckled down and done it though!

#14 bittenkittenx May 18 2008 04:44

I'm 23, but a 21 year old at heart lol.

What motivates me to lose the weight? Well, that one is a weird one, and I get different responses from everyone. I'm a health nut first off, I love eating healthy foods, but never do. I'm borderline disabled (I have fibromyalgia really badly, so its hard for me to move.. I still do my 3 mile walk though dammit!) My boyfriend Joshua is a big factor for me too. I'm the biggest girl he's been with. He's very vain, and all his exes are 120lbs at most. I'm 145lbs now, when I met him I was 160lbs or so. I was his best friend and he doesn't care if I lose the weight or not, but he saw pictures of me when I was 125lbs and the look on his face was motivation itself. I haven't seen him in a year, so getting down to 140lbs before he comes home has been my accomplishment for the past 2 months lol. I'm ok if i get down to 144lbs by the time he gets home (which is this thursday) I'm also a model. I'm sick of not being considered for shows because my stomach isn't completely flat, and I'm not a plus sized model! I'm a size 6, and a model friend of mine told me that I'd be the perfect plus sized model... GRR!

Have you lost any yet? Yes, I'm down about 10lbs since January and down 20lbs from 2 years ago. Yay me. That was with minimal effort mind you.

how long have you been on this site I found this little gem in january of 08, and I've become addicted!

Finally, people my age!! I'm 21 ... it's nice to meet you all. I don't know how long ago this was posted and I haven't used the site regularly in almost a year, but here goes:

what motivates you to lose the weight?

Whoever talking about the sophomore 15 was sooooo right! Not to mention the requisite 5-7 pounds gained on turning 21 and hitting the bars. Yeah, I haven't come to terms with being 20 pounds heavier than I was at 18 ... aaaaand I surpassed the weight I said I would never let myself reach ever again about a week ago. So, getting back to my old size is probably what motivates me the most right now. Also, regaining the body of a 3-season athlete is kind of a big motivator, too. I want my flat stomach back!

have you lost any yet?

Oh man, I hate this question. Actually, I've gained a good 10 pounds since I last used CC. College will do that to you. I'm hoping to start using this again to help me lose weight again, or at least go back to eating less than 3x as much as I need to in a day and lazing on the couch all the time. So, I guess I'll start over today. I don't have a scale, so this might be difficult to track. I'll have to go by the way my jeans are fitting.

how long have you been on the site?

I used the site starting in the summer of 2006, but gave up in the summer of 2007. It's been a good two years, and CC is really helpful when I commit to using it and commit to losing weight.

Thank you so much for posting this! It's helpful already to see that other people my age have the same hang-ups as I do or have very similar stories and struggles.

By the way, I really don't know how to use this forum yet, so pardon the messy postings.

#17 twiztiddreamxxx May 18 2008 17:24

18 here, too Cool

* what motivates you to lose the weight? Well, to be honest, I feel like my weight is keeping me from actually living my life the way I really want to. I've been overweight since about 4th or 5th grade, and I've pretty much always been miserable because of it. Being made fun of, not wanting to participate in anything, all of that stuff. I don't want to waste the rest of my life the same way. I want to be able feel and look good.

* have you lost any yet? Since January 1st, I've lost almost 16lbs. 8lbs of that being since I joined CC.

* how long have you been on the site? For a little better than a month...since April 10th.

#18 livetolove May 18 2008 17:36
I'm 20

What motivates me?

I want to look healthy and feel confident about myself when I'm out and about. The only thing I want to worry about is if my mascara's running or if my hair's out of place--things that I can fix easily--I don't want to have to worry if my legs look too fat or if my butt looks fat. Haha--hey you asked!

Weight loss so far?

15 lbs down from the freshmen 15 I gained last year ;)

I've been on this site for about a year now
#19 jhardy07 May 18 2008 23:51

I might be a little too old... lol... Getting ready to turn 23 in October.

My motivation? I hit an all time high of 150 lbs. in December, and that was a lot for me compared to the 125 lbs. I weighed in September before I moved to Missouri. Also, my husband just deployed to Iraq, and I want to look good when he comes home... =) I don't want him to come home to an overweight, unhealthy wife! I also got motivated because a lot of diseases run in my family and I want to be healthy and lower my risk of getting diabetes (among other things like heart problems).

Weight loss so far... I've lost 14 lbs. since December and still have 11 lbs. to go to reach my ideal weight. I've been on this site for a couple months now and I love it! =) It's been really helpful!

#20 fitnessuk May 18 2008 23:53

Well based on the replies it sems like im the only male 18-21 on here! Im 20.

What motivates me? Being healthy means i will be faster, stonger, live longer, feel better and look better. The last one may be shallow but then again id say everyone is shallow in some ways.

Have i lost any weight? I had lost some weight, but i managed to put it back on during a holiday so now its summer and i have a rigid routine it will be much easier to get back on track.

How long have i been on the site? Less than 24 hours so far.
