Sugar problem! lafoutloud01
  May 15 2008 23:22

So I've been having trouble losing my weight even though I'm usually burning more calories than I consume, so I checked my food log for the past few weeks to see if I could notice a pattern and I did - too much sugar! Every single day I consumed almost twice the amount of sugar that's recommended! I'm worried this is because I eat too much fruit. Does anyone have any suggestions for cutting back on sugar? Also, would this inhibit weight loss?

I don't think that fruit is the issue.  And you are the exception to the rule on fruit. Most folks don't eat enough. I know I don't. Most fruits content is mostly water.  For example: grapes, strawberries, oranges and even tomatoes contain a lot of fiber. If you are eating whole fruit (not juice) it's hard to go wrong. I can't see why this would inhibit your weight loss.

some fruits are naturally very high in sugar: watermelon, ripe banana, pineapple, grapes. perhaps if you eat fruits that are lower in sugar: raspberries, blueberries, honeydew melon, apricots etc.

good luck!

You only have to limit added sugar.  You don't have to count the natural sugar found in fruit.

The safe daily limit of added sugar is 62 grams. This is the average from  the limits imposed by the Canadian FDA, British FDA, USDA, and the American Diabetes Association.

i am just asking how long you have been dieting for? Some people think they eat good for 3 days they should start to see the pounds melt away, but thats not going to happen.

fruit is never a problem.

I've been dieting since about February. I lost 4 or 5 lbs but then I went to italy for two weeks and gained it back, I have only lost like 2 lbs since then (beginning of april)
