Uneaten Food Log jef9up
  May 14 2008 18:14

When I'm battling with my will power and/or my self control around food temptations I always wish there was somewhere to Log all the food I WANTED to eat or had the opportunity to eat and DIDN'T.

There could be a list a mile long of success stories for what we turn down instead of devouring!

Below is a list of recent foods that I DIDN'T eat:

- Fruit Juice (sugar cocktail kind)
- Cheese on my (purchased for charity) hamburger
- Pop
- Fudgsicle icecream desert (even though it was for charity too!)
- Chocolate Easter treats still sitting in my desk drawer
- French Fries while eating out (twice!)
- The other half of my bagel at breakfast

What foods are left on your UNEATEN list that make you proud of your willpower???

I'm going WAYYYY back!

Halloween -

  • Mine (and my brother's) BIG pillow-case full of candy... including Milky Ways.
  • My mom's beef chili and white-bread peanut butter "pumpkin" shaped sandwiches. This year, I'm making a veggie chili and some finger sandwiches with natural PB and vegan wheat bread.
Thanksgiving -

  • Dark meat turkey
  • Mashed potatoes (I had a baked sweet one instead)
  • Butter on EVERYTHING
  • Stuffing with ham and bacon
  • My grandma's 'bacon-dripping' green beans
  • Every dessert
Christmas -

  • Standing rib roast of beef
  • More mashed potatoes
  • Pies and cakes galore
  • Christmas butter cookies with sprinkles (I'm making vegan ones this year - I hate missing out!)
Other random times -

  • My grandma's constant invatations to go out for Steak N' Shake or ice cream sundaes - she KNOWS I don't eat those things, and both me and my mom KNOW that she does it on purpose.
  • Vegan butter cookies with frosting (I made them for a Girl Scout thing for my friend's little sister and there were not enough left for me!)
  • My grandma's (amazing) chocolate chip cake with chocolate butter frosting. Complete with Crisco and all.
  • Numerous fast food trips. I bring my lunch.
  • Camping trips; they only serve bacon, eggs, etc. for breakfast and tater tots and corn dogs for lunch. Bleh. Not veg friendly.

Grapes for the last 2 weeks !!!! =[

I went to Moe's this weekend to pick up dinner for my boyfriend and really wanted to get myself a burrito, but I didn't. One thing that helps me is to focus on the money I'm saving as well as the calories. When I lived on my college's campus and was always tempted to stop at a convenience store for a soda, ice cream or chips, I'd just make a mental note and then stick the amount I would have spent on it in a jar to use for something more fun later.

Easter candy (Reese's!)

Lots of breads or sweets, especially things people bring in at work

The M&M's I keep on my desk for my co-worker

Pretzels and dip while my boyfriend is snacking on them while watching TV

Beer, wine, etc. that I still drink, but not as much

My Uneaten Foods for the last couple of days:

  • The delicious white chocolate macadamia nut cookies from subway
  • Ghiradelli caramel and milk chocolate squares
  • Nachos and wings at happy hour last night
  • More than 10 of the new amazingly good crunchy mint M&Ms
  • A twinkie
  • The chocolate croissant from Starbucks that was literally begging me to eat it this morning
  • A piece of cake for my co-workers birthday

And as delicious as ALL those things would have been (and the cake is still sitting there...mocking me as I type...), my body is secretly thanking me for not giving in.  I swear.  I can ALMOST hear it over the mocking coming from the cake!

Just since 6pm yesterday: Cakes, pies, squares, donuts, deserts...

- An insane amount of leftover deserts from the church dinner (I did have one taste - but could've easily eaten more!)
- My mom's excellent carrot cake once I got home last night
- Sugary breakfast cereal
- Not even ONE of the dozens of yummy donuts sitting RIGHT INFRONT of me at my meeting this morning for TWO HOURS teasing me the entire time. (NOT FAIR. I could've eaten 5)
- A lemon jelly roll desert that was brought in for the office to share that was again... plopped right infront of where I was sitting.

So much temptation to battle! Constantly! When I list all of these I can begin to really understand why I was gaining weight... Can someone say sugar overload?!

Processed/white starches, such as white bread and pasta and rice.  I am tempted to eat them EVERY DAY.

every time we order from an italian restaurant

 i dont let myself order:

 the side pasta,

the gnocchi dishes covered in heavy cream sauces

--- and i get the chicken milanese without breading or the buffalo chicken salad.

everytime we order from the chinese restaurant:

i dont let myself order:

an egg roll (mmmm egg roll)

most of the soups

anything crispy or spicy

---instead i order: hot and sour soup and chicken with veggies

and if one more damn cake, cookie, or pastry calls out my name im going to poke out my ear drums with Q-tips. I cant stand it anymore.
