What percentage of your diet is fat? I am trying to keep my diet below 20% fat at about 1900-2200 calories. It has not been easy to do. Any suggestions on some good high carb high protein but low fat food sources? |

make a veggie omelette with egg whites :-) skinless chicken breasts aren't bad either, and don't forget fish! also skim milk is good, and if you like protein shakes they're good too... if you get any more answers, please message me... I'm wondering the same thing! |

I go for 25% - 35% fat, preferably in the middle or high end, because of the Mayo Clinic's recommendations for my age, HERE. User mikelane posted a good summary of the World Health Organization's dietary guidelines HERE. If you search the forums you will find tons of threads listing low-fat high-protein foods. |

yea...fish. I love fish too. I was into fish for a while, eating lots of talapia but then all those stories about tainted products from China arose. Yep, the fish was imported from China...so I couldn't bring myself to buy anymore. I guess I need to find me some fish. |

I average out at 25% fat.... sometimes a little less, but never more. I very rarely eat fried food, I use low-fat dairy products, and I very rarely add fat to anything I make, but I'm not neurotic about it. I don't have heart disease or any other medical reason to need a super-low-fat-diet, and I'm losing weight just fine... |

| I keep to about 25- 30% fat in my diet... mostly vegetable sources. If you want a high carb, high protein low fat food I'd recommend pulses or legumes.... beans, lentils, chickpeas... all very nutritious, carbohydrate and protein-rich and virtually fat free. | ||

| I'll likely be no help here. I'm a nut and seed addict and get about 40% of my calories from fat. I used to get 50% of them from it...and I only eat meat a couple of times per week! | ||

I get 25-30% from fat, but a good portion of that is from "good fat" such as almonds, olive oil, avocados, etc. :) |

I am getting great results at an average of 23% fat, 27% protein, 50% carbs. Most of my fats come from the proteins, which are low fat but still contain a little fat and because my protein is fairly high, that's just how it ends up. I also get some fat from nuts, avacados, the occasional olive oil mayo or vinaigrettes. The proteins I choose are natuarally low in fat like the typical boneless skinless chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, fish, prawns, low-fat yogurt and cheeses, skim milk, and carbs are all whole grains like whole grain bread/pitas, wild/brown rice blends, barley, fruit, and tons of veggies. My fats are sometimes so low I allow a little butter on something just for fun! Do you cook, or are you looking for pre-made food products? If you cook I've got some low-fat recipes like turkey mushroom jalapeno burgers, lasagne, veggie chili, an awesome barley-veggie bake, pita pizza, and soups. If not...the main reason my fat stays low is because I am a big fan of the grill dinner. A grilled peice of meat or fish, and a big pile of veggies is awesome. Also thanks to low-fat dairy products...I love cheese so it's nice they were able to take some of the fat out! |

I'm getting about 25% of fat by emphasizing low-fat protein; egg whites, beans and fish. |

I get about 40-50% of my calories from fats. I actually think this is healthy. They just have to be the right kinds of fats.
Most days, I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, raw soaked nuts, olives, avocados, coconut milk and oil, whole eggs, and full fat raw dairy products. In my opinion, it is best to consume dairy products raw and whole so that the enzymes are not destroyed and they are digested the way nature intended. That's all around healthiest, in my opinion. |
