I know a lot of people have posted on this topic, but im having a hard time bringing down my deficit. I have been on this website for 2 weeks now, logging between 1200-1400 calories a day. I am 5' 9", 215, 25 female. The estimate from the website has me burning about 2200 calories just being me. So right off the bat i have about a 1000 calorie deficit. HOWEVER i have also started working out and do 1 hour of cardio 5 days a week, which is putting my burned calories at about 3200... a 2000 deficit!! Should i really be aiming to eat about 2000 calories to bring my deficit down to 1000?? I am not tired, i feel good with my current routine. Any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it. |

You may feel OK short-term but, over time, if you undereat too much you'll start to struggle. You should increase your food consumption in order to keep your metabolism perky, to give you the energy to do exercise and also to ensure that you're able to keep your muscle tone.
I calculate that 2000 cals would be the perfect total to aim for. Keep to healthy, wholefoods as much as you can. Start the day with a decent-sized breakfast and spread your food intake out evenly throughout the day. If you're exercising more, sipping plenty of water will also help keep everything moving. |

I have a lot of days when my burn goes over 3000, too. (My sedentary burn is 2240). And yep, you have to eat 2000 or more calories that day. I love those days. It feels great to eat a lovely dinner when you've really earned it. Eating too little will catch up to you in the long run, and will make it harder to lose weight. Your best bet would be to focus on keeping your deficit under 1000 and enjoying the extra food on those days when you do your cardio. |
