| Feeling guilty for "relaxing" this weekend. | ||

How much damage can be done in one weekend? My husband and I spent both Friday and Saturday out with friends, eating and drinking (quite a bit) both nights. I also haven't worked out since Thursday and I'm wondering if this could cause any damage to my progress. I'm 5'1 and weigh 125. My profile states that I should weigh around 115. I've been working really hard, by eating well-balanced meals, cutting out "junk" food and exercising at least three days a week. I've even started instructing a yoga class for my eight grade students after school. I've been feeling really good about the changes I've made in the past year. I've dropped from 140 to 125. Unfortunately, I've have also been having trouble truly appreciating the changes in my appearance. Why is it so hard to look past the numbers on the scale? At this moment, I'm agonizing over how two nights of drinking, eating without reserve and lack of exercise will increase the size of my waistline. Will my clothes still fit the same way tomorrow morning?

you might have a little water weight tacked on to your waistline but don't freak out. high sodium levels and alcohol in your system will have it holding on to water. but itll go away. you enjoyed your weekend, you plan to go back to your healthy life eating right and exercising, you'll be fine. don't fret! |

Well for what it's worth I've been eating a ton of junk food lately and still losing weight. Thing is though, I don't go overboard.

IMHO....
this is why it's a fine line between "state of mind" and unhealthy obsession.... you are doing all the right things to live a healthy lifestyle - including letting loose of the ties that bind for just one weekend! relax! I know your clothes feel so awesome, but frankly, my jeans feel different every time i wear them. our bodies are in constant flux. the numbers we see on the scale are only part of our healthy lifestyles. There's a psychological health that goes along with physical health (mind and body connection), and part of our psychological health depends on being kind to ourSelves. did you have fun over the weekend? new memories? if so, revel in it :-) and, congrats :-) |
