| Today I jogged and I almost cried | ||
| May 11 2008 17:48 | ||
I have a 1000 calorie a day burn goal and my work out video's left me short so I did what I normally do which is go outside to walk the last few calories out. I was checking my HRM and noticed I had dropped out of my zone so I decided to see if I could jog even a little. Believe me when I started this at 264 pounds my knee caps would have shot off like bullets had I tried it. =)

| Good for you!! Sometimes the little goals don't seem like much at the time, but overall, they do add up. Think about this - one drop isn't much, but then keep adding drops and soon you will have a cup full of water, then a bucket full. If you keep striving for your goals, you will reach them. Keep it up! | ||

That is WONDERFUL...check out www.johnbingham.com I think you will like what he is all about. You are a wonderful motivation to me. I think I have been too focused on my caloric intake and should start looking at a higher burn meter goal. I don't know that I can burn 1000 calories extra a day but I can sure bump it up a notch. You are clearly on the right track!! |

Oh WOW!! your little story made me smile! Great job and great motivation story for the rest of us. I think I'm gonna try and give jogging a go... if I get tired at first, I can always walk in between :)

| That is a beautiful story and really inspiring. My mom has recently took up running again, but in the beginning had to stop too because of knee issues. Your story really made me smile. Thanks for sharing. I wish you the best along your journey! :) Congratulations! | ||

way to go! I know how you feel. It is amazing that after being out of shape for so long when you do something that you could've never done when you were heavier. This weekend I was helping my children practice soccer and could run the whole length of the field and back.... it was an amazing feeling! |

Original Post by moodymomma1977: I don't know a lot about jogging and I didn't really like it when I was younger and had to do it in school but the ability to do it has caused me to shift my paradigm so perhaps I've found another fitness tool =) |

Original Post by msjez135: Children can be such a motivation and encouragement. My 17 year old son takes the time to tell me I'm looking good or even spot me when I try to take on his weight bench with him. I am so glad your children are able to enjoy your active participation in their fun. |

| Your son spots and compliments you! It takes a wonderful mother to raise such a great, supportive son! I'm sure that now he looks up to you now and your husband is so proud of you. Congratulations on your goal, that is really such a big deal. Life is so full of ups and downs, but it's our minds that can push us to where we want to go! Congrats again (this almost brought tears to my eyes, too!) | ||

Your post struck a chord with me. Last May, I had gotten down to 225 (or thereabouts) and decided to start running for the first time. My knee caps almost DID pop out! Anyway, I ran my first half marathon on April 20th of this year and I managed to run the whole thing. I came in at the back of the pack, but was far from being last. 11 months of regular running and I'm doing things I thought I'd never, ever be able to do (much less want to). I'm not telling you my story to take from your wonderful accomplishment; I just wanted to tell you that after that 1/2 marathon I cried like a baby when I was alone in the shower afterwards. I was just so, so proud of my body. It can make babies and feed them and then learn to run. I wanted to let you know that I totally understand what you're talking about and that you have every single right in the world to burst with pride. The easy way would have been to remain sedentary and eat cheet-os the rest of your life. You've risen to the challenge and taken the hard route, acting as an example to your children and the people who surround you. Your grandchildren (should you be so lucky to be blessed with them!) will be so , so glad that grand-ma can run around and play tag with them!!! KUDOS! |
