While looking around, just reading labels at Wal-Mart at like midnight yesterday, I discovered the Snickers Marathon Nutrition bars. What caught my eye was 11 grams of protein at only 150 calories. But what else I read made me even more excited. I couldn't find it's page on this site, so I scanned the box I bought:

I've had those & yes they are GREAT! The double chocolate crisp is the one I usually get. Zone just came out with these dark chocolate bars too. I just had a chocolate strawberry one. It's 12 grams of protein & 180 cals. Slightly more, but awesome if you need some chocolate. |

Original Post by cmiss24: Tell me about it! The whole time eating it, I was like, "Do these really only have 150 calories?" |

I've been warned by several people that those are just glorified candy bars and should be treated as such. But you know what? If eating that bar gives you more satisfaction than a regular candy bar, I say eat it! It's better for you (even if it still has tons of sugar), and you can eat it with a lot less guilt. Everything in moderation :) |

Bars are the new big thing for me. I'm probably eating too many during the week, but I look at it this way - it's way better for me than a greasy drive-thru meal. My two favories are Atkins Caramel Fudge brownie - 150 calories and 12g protein. Pure Protein has wonerful ones as well. My top three are (I can't decide which one i like best) Chewy Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. They're all between 180-200 calories and have a whopping 20g of protein. Garnet18, I totally agree with you. Granola bars do absolutely nothing for my stomach but make me even more hungry. However, I will say the protein bars that I listed must have some kind of special additive that makes them expand in my stomach and I feel totally full. Believe me when I say I'm a fat kid at heart and have been known to pack away serious quantities of food. Probably dont want to know what makes them so filling, but I don't care because it works. Not the best attitiude to have, I know. |

i went to their website, and the fact that they won't list how much sugar is in those bars; says enough for me. |

i just feel like, for 150 cals I could each so much more and better foods... without tons of sugar and processed crap. i used to be a bar junkie but I'm really moving away from that now.. |

Larabars are the best bars. 180-210 calories, but all the ingredients are natural. Most just contain dates and nuts |

The bars can be a great snack idea. Or even possibly a meal alternative. However, watch the sugar grams in these. Most of them are extremely high in sugar. Stay away from those. This includes the Snickers Marathon Bars. Try the EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control crisp bars. These taste great. And yes they will fill you up. My favorite is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp closely followed by the Double Chocolate Crisp.
I really started focusing on what I eat and exercising about 6 weeks ago. 18 lbs down 46 to go.

I would also recommend the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Ready-to-Drink chocolate shakes. These things actually taste great, no chalky taste at all. However, just make sure they are nice and cold before drinking. They are a little pricey though. 100 calories |
