My motivation, which isn't really working for me at the moment but may work for some of y'all, is I bought a really cute pair of pants in the size I want to be. They are hanging on my wall and I can see the outfit in my head. It's so cute. But I am also weighing myself every monday. I keep track and for every pound I lose a dollar goes into my jar but if I gain I put twice of whatever I gained. It's a way to keep myself accountable and also a way to save up money for the shopping spree I intend to go on when I get down to a size 12. |

I've got a similar thing to what you do.. Every week I set myself 4 goals and if I achieve all them goals my boyfriend puts £4 into my motivation pot.. So for every goal I do I get £1!!! So by the time i'm down to my goal weight I'll have some money to go out with and get some new clothes! Woop!! |

I have a motivational cup too :D Every day i go without binging, i put in some coins... Depends how much is in my wallet for how much i put in though lol. Varies between 20cents and 50cents though. It worked to begin with and at least i've saved up a few dollars (bout $5 i imagin) but it's not working at the moment. I've gained a lot of weight and it seems SO daunting that i am too scared to even try to lose it. Stupid food *kicks cupboard and slaps fridge around a little* lol. |

why would you put twice of whatever you gained? isn't that positive reinforcement for gaining??? |

| if you're trying to lose.... adding twice the amount when you gain would be more motivation to gain than lose | ||

?? I, on the other hand, reward myself every 10 pounds for that amount. For example, when I am 30 lb down, I'm going to spend $30 on anything I want, probably on inexpensive clothes. And then 40 lb will be $40... etc etc. |

My motivation is there but it hasn't been working. I have a wedding in a year and a half I need to get into a wedding gown for, and I have $4000 in cash offered to me for clothes by my fiance. $1000 for the first 20.....sigh. |

I got pricey jeans for Christmas 07 in the size I wanted to be. I tried them on again and again... they never fit. I hated those dang pants. I almost returned them several times. They made me mad sitting there for months. Now they finally fit in May 08 but I still kinda hate them for making me feel so bad and fat for months. No matter how much I lost it was not enough to fit into those dang pants! I would do great and lose 1 pound in a week but the pants still did not fit. :( Anyways, that motivation did not work for me! I am going to stick with the pure motivation of losing my chub!! |

I saw a dress in the window of a store I never shop in. I loved it. I'm going to do the same thing. Money tucked away so I can buy that dress in a smaller size. I live in Tucson, so even if I can't buy for several months, it will last a while in this heat. |
