Apples Addiction...anyone? charming_imy27
  May 09 2008 18:44

I have been notice that I have been eating 4 of 1.5 medium apples EVERYDAY for almost 2 weeks now. I don't know why but I feels like I want to eat it and craving for it. And I have been eating apples a lot for a long time but I usually have 1 or 2 maximun in a day. What's wrong with me? Any way that I can get out of this apple addiction? Anyone have the same problems as I do?? HELP!!?? (I have no other fruits at school...we have oranges but they are really bad....not fresh at all)

By the way..the apple that I'm talking about is Golden Delicious....around 1.5 of a tennis ball size.

I suffer from an apple addiction as well - apple and peanut butter - but I'm only eating one apple a day.  Is it possible for you to bring a fruit or snack with you to school instead of relying on what the school has?  Maybe dried fruit if you're worried about fresh fruit getting tossed around in your bag/purse.

I bring a bag of snacks with me everywhere I go (drives my husband nuts) - just so I won't eat garbage when i get hungry.

If nothing else - feel comforted in the thought that there are worse things to be addicted to - like frozen raspberries and reddi whip.  :(

ahhh me too!! i go through apples like CRAZY. i can eat 6 in one day. it makes my mom mad because she's constantly going to buy them :P i've cut down recently out of guilt haha

I LOVE APPLES TOO! I buy 5lbs of apples every week and they are usually gone in 4 days.  Once they are gone they are gone though. I love eating them when I have tea.  I sip the tea and then bite the apple for sugar.  Its great.

Apples and Peanut butter are one my households staple snacks. The kids know that if there's apples in the house we'll probably be eating them with peanut butter.

I'm a big texture person, and the texture of most apples is not my cup of tea. The only ones I really love are the Granny Smith green apples because they are not only tart but crisp. I find most other apples generally soft and mealy. But I'll eat Granny Smith apples like they're going out of style.

If you want a change from Granny Smith, try Honey Crunch.  They have the same texture as a Granny Smith, but are much sweeter.  They're usually only available during apple season.

Yes! Me too!! I eat about 4 apples a day. Sometimes a will substitute 2 apples for a different kind of fruit, but usually it is apples. Right now I am stuck on the Gala apples. . . .

Do they also call Honey Crunch a Honey Crisp?  Those are fantastic, although very seasonal.  The last batch I bought, I actually made apple beer... gah that was tasty.

Apples are too expensive for me to eat 4 a day.  If I could afford to spend $40-$60 a month on apples, I would :)

Apples are great there is nothing to feel bad about.

Well, I'm in a boarding school and I don't have fridge to store all the fruits.... If I have time, I would go out and get Honeydew/Cantaloupe/Water Melon. But I'm stick with apple. Right now, I'm eating the 4th apple of the day!! I have herd that it's not so good to have too many apples a day. I'm not sure if it's true or not. How many apples would be count as too much??

But I get most of my carbs from fruits since the only full carb i eat is 1 slice or 2 of whole wheat bread for lunch.

I am an apple addict as well, I would say daily I eat at least 3. An apple with peanut butter is my favorite as well. I guess use apple addicts are all the same!! They are just so easy to grab and go, filling, and tasty.

I forgot to ask, I love pink lady apples, but sometimes have trouble finding them at other stores other then whole foods and health food stores. Has anyone seen them anywhere else regularly?

Also, I swear by cortlands in the fall and golden delicious year round!!!

I am a FUJI girl myself, but I eat atleast 2-3 per day! They are about the same size as the golden delicious ones. There is nothing wrong with eating this amount per day, I just think that it is healthier than cookies or candy right??

AN apple (or 6 a day) keeps the doc away!!

Oh my goodness! I have the same problem! I eat 5-6 Golden Delicious in a day some times more, it's all I want to eat, no cravings for bread, ice cream just those darn apples! Its taking over me! Hehe, well if you have any solutions tell me, I just weighed one and it turns out a small Golden Delicious weighs around 200 grams, which is 96(!) calories, and here I thought they were only 49!

i eat about 4-5 apples a day. being in a freshman in college sucks food wise, i always stock my fridge with apples stolen from the dining hall.

i just discovered an amazing way to eat them 1 apple cut into 1/2 inch pieces as much cinnamon as you would like and a minute in the microwave really good snack/dessert

I've seen Pink Lady and Cripps Pink apples at Jewel in Chicago. they are usually $1.99 a pound but they are on sale sometimes for lesser.

I like apples too but I usually have just one a day, two at the most.

Oh my god, it's so nice to hear I'm not the only one! I take an apple to school everyday to go with whatever else I'm having and everyone tells me I'm so weird for having an addiction to apples. But I love them! Golden delicious/Gala are my favorite, but I might try the pink lady ones next time...

Yeah...back in Thailand, my family have a family business. We get 100 huge cartain or fruits each week, put them in a nice basket + ribbons and we sell them. So, my house full of fruits ALL the time!!! Apples (mainly...many kinds...Fuji, Pink lady, Golden/Red delicious...), Pear, Cherry...and many more!! Now I'm in a boarding school...and I feel like I need my apples!!!!

We love fruits....right???

I too have an apple addiction, but I'm not a bit worried about it!  Usually, I prefer pink lady's, the crisper the better.  It is really by far the crispest apple I've ever had (in case the person who brought up crispness might be interested).  Of course, this does vary some.

Lately, I got a hold of some very flavorful tiny little galas, which have been quite excellent, even though normally not my favorite.

It truly amazes me how much one variety of apple can vary, and can be so wonderful if you get the right batch of it, at just the right time.  Those apples can truly have an exquisite taste!

The only thing that has really slowed down my apple addiction has been the fact that it is now strawberry season, so I'm now eating strawberries like they are going out of style!  Can't get enough of them.  Yummy!
