| P.M.S: The killer of ALL diets! Post your advise, I need it! | ||

Urrgh! Please tell me that there are other women out there that feel like this! I hate P.M.S!!! She is evil to a diet. I am not really on a diet but I am watching my calories and trying to eat right, but this week I just want to throw caution to the wind and eat EVERYTHING. My p.m.s cravings are anything chocolate and anything deep friend. I crave Friday's mozzarella sticks and a blue ribbon brownie from Applebee's, and also A cookie dough blizzard from DQ which a small has 720 calories in it!!! Does anyone have any tricks to tell the p.m.s monster to shut up? I tried eating chocolate rice cakes yesterday but it knows that chocolate rice cakes are not real chocolate. Also what is your p.m.s cravings? Any healthy alternatives to eat instead of all that bad junk food? Thanks ladies! |

I usually allow myself a 100 calorie Cadbury Thins bar when it's TTOM. You can still have chocolate, just make a little room for it! ;-) |

Hmmmm my chocolate craving can be tricked a little. Take a chocolate-flavoured nutritional shake, like those dry packages of breakfast replacements? Mix it with some milk and frozen yogurt or ice. It's a nutritious chocolate shake! Instead of mozza sticks, maybe you could be satisfied with a plate of cheese, crackers, and veggies. Allow yourself to have a little of the craving but not the entire thing. That way you're mastering the craving BUT compromising a little too. I always find peanut butter helps... it's not a GREAT food, but it does make me feel a little better. Hmmm and I mean really, it's okay to have a day or two of going over. You might not be able to maintain a deficit, but that's not a bad thing! And if you're afraid of going over, just promise yourself that you'll do some extra cardio next week to make up for it. If you want that blizzard, be sure to put in an extra 1.5 hours of cardio throughout the week... not so hard when you think about it! Good luck :) |

| All i can think about is chocolate a week before my period. It was killing me and I was eyeing snickers bars so I went in search for a low calorie snack that was chocolatey! There are fudgsicles (the brand is actually "fudgsicle" And they are 40 calories EACH! I have 2 a day and it only comes to 80 and it really hits the spot. | ||

try the supplement L-glutamine. I take one daily with my vitamins and it really does curb sweet cravings all month long. |

During PMS and the first half of my period, I don't eat meals so I can eat all day. It's the only way I've found of keeping myself from eating the entire contents of the fridge. I still eat a lot of the same foods I would normally eat, I just space them out so I never really get hungry. As for chocolate, PMS or not, I eat chocolate every day. I eat 75 calories worth, which is pretty easy to fit into my calories. It's like my prozac. |

I am so happy I learned to like dark chocolate . . . it is soo good for a chocolate craving. This month I had a chocolate bar with 88% cocoa, it tasted like it had the chocolate of 3 candy bars, but the calories of only one. I find that exercise helps a lot of my PMS symptoms. |

I totally agree with tmck99. Dark chocolate all the way! Green & Blacks organic dark chocolate is 75% cocoa or more. The Maya Gold Green & Blacks chocolate is lush too (dark chocolate with an orangey/mixed spice flavour). Plus the whole 'organic' thing means it can't possibly be bad for you! :-D |

AM I the only one who gets Crazy cravings around Ovulation. Seriously, I can just about know when I am going to ovulate because I want things like Soda, and Hamburgers. Since I Know this is when I get cravings I make sure I have lots of "good" calories. I do allow myself a little of what ever I am craving, so that I don't binge later.

Chocolate I allow myself, I just try to stick with dark! And to help with the fried food cravings I go out with a bunch of friends and eat one of all the things I'm craving!! They are more than happy to eat the rest fast enough so I don't have time to grab seconds! Guys work the best for this!!! haha! |

I'm having this problem right now. For some reason it seems a lot worse this month than it's been before. I'm not just craving things, I'm soooo hungry! My appetite is off the charts. I'm not eating anything bad, still my usual fruit and healthy stuff, but I'm just eating more of it yesterday and today. I checked my analysis last month and it looks like I did it then too, for 3 days, and it wasn't so bad, but I don't want to throw in the towel and stop trying for 3 days, you know? Ugh....stupid period...stupid pms....chocolate and pizza is what i want. And for some reason, I'm really craving a coke. I haven't had any soda in months, and no non-diet soda in many months, and for some reason I really want a regular coke. gonna go drink more water and go to bed.... |

I'm glad I'm not the only one. My cravings start around ovulation and seem to last for days 14-28. I have found that taking a magnesium supplement and/or evening primrose supplement helps some. Speaking of which, I should have some now.... |
