| Soy or lactaid free ice cream? | ||
| May 09 2008 03:16 | ||
Hello! I'm trying to gain weight and am lactose intolerant and looking for soy/lactaid free ice cream and can't seem to find any at the grocery store. Does anyone know if such a thing exists and where you buy such products? Also, how are they on taste? |

There is a rice-milk based ice "cream" called Rice Dream. They usually have it at Whole Foods and places like that. There's a store locator on the Rice Dream website. The cocoa marble fudge flavor is pretty awesome. |

i love tofutti!!! they have "cuties" sandwiches that come in lots of different flavors. my favorite is mint chocolate chip but they also have peanut butter which i'm dying to try. they taste great to me. then again i haven't had normal ice cream in years so i wouldn't know if they taste bad. |

| Rice Dream products are good, as well as Good Karma ice cream. I particularly love their carrot cake flavor! Additionally, you can make "ice cream" with frozen bananas if you have a good blender/food processor. | ||

I get Soy Delicious frozen dessert (ice cream) at Whole Foods. Some of their flavors are sweetened with fruits instead of refined sugar. I LOVE the raspberry one! The Mocha Fudge is awesome, too, though I think it has sugar. Their chocolate one is delicious. I like every one I've tried. |

Oh, speaking of making your own, there are some good recipes out now for making "raw" ice creams using nut milks. They look extremely easy to make. They are very healthy, probably provide some vegetable fats from the nuts, and are certainly delicious. Cafe Gratitude, a raw foods restaurant, put out a cookbook with some raw ice cream recipes in it. I haven't tried making them yet, but I've had their milk shakes at the restaurant that are made with brazil nut ice cream. MAJOR YUM!! |

Original Post by toridl: Wait, are you looking for an ice cream that's soy-free, lactaid-free, and non-dairy or just a non-dairy ice cream? (Your wording is a little confusing.) |

Breyers makes a lactose-free VANILLA icecream... alas that's the only flavour but it tastes pretty good. |
