Here is a website I found while looking for recipes that are pretty good. It's actually a forum for mother's of daughters with an ED but it has some good ideas that we can use for ourselves as well as links to other sites.

Welcome momdad! Hopefully you will find a list of calorie dense foods in this forum. Good luck with gaining and remember that we are all here whenever you need a friend!

The sources on this site are wonderful!

Here is my problem. I'm dieting on CC and my husband is underweight. He is worried (he is going to be 60) and thinks if he drinks those expensive protein things that he will gain his weight really fast.  Can anybody help me wth some of the facts of these drinks?

This is a strange question to ask I think - but...

I'm trynig to gain muscle mass (and I am) the problem is all of the sites like this that help track calories make the assumption I'm overweight (I'm not) because a simple BMI calculation puts me in the 'slightly overweight category'.

So all of the encouragement and recomendations are how to loose some weight.

Has anyone come across a sight useful for people looking for the same tools to help with building muscle mass?

Hi,

Protein drinks will only help gain muscle if used in conjunction with an exercise regime aimed at gaining muscle mass. Protein is the key requirement to repair musles and protein drinks are used by body builders to maximise the muscle growth while following a weight lifting regime.

If used in without the necessary weight lifting regime, but in place of carbohydrates (i.e. resulting in lower consumption of carbohydrates) it will either have no effect or can contribute to weight loss. (Basically, the atkins diet).

hey I was looking to gain weight, problem is during the day I am always SO busy. I work pretty much a 9-5 job in the summer and I have soccer at night (either games or practices) and on off days I usually run, and even after work I sometimes hit the gym. SOO I have decided I really need to start eating healthy and eating properly. Does anyone find eating late at night helps them gain more weight? because thats what I usually do to try to make up for lost calories during the day? Does it matter what time of the day we eat?

I am typically looking to gain muscle, and trying to add more bulk to me, because I feel to small for playing sports.. which is sad because I used to be in great shape.

This sounds a lot like me! I end up eating more than half my calories late because I can only cram in so many nuts and whatever at work.  I'm working on it though, because I sure FEEL a lot better when I fuel up during the day!  Not only the energy, but more into stuff I'm doing mentally, if that makes sense.  Sometimes it's just about your priorities--I'm making a schedule to teach myself to get calories in sooner, the same way I make sure I get them in before bed.

I don't know that eating late helps me gain weight, except I do usually end up eating more when I get ravenous.  A lot of times what happens to me is I'll eat a nice big breakfast and be so full it's easier to get too busy to eat enough later on.  If I let myself get hungrier all day I have no choice but to eat and then do nothing else for the rest of the night.  I guess what I'm saying is my goal is to eat consistently from start to finish--always just a little over what I would be satisfied with to build the stronger athlete I aim to be!

ughh my nutritionist doctor and therapist are making me gain 10-15 lbs. AND maintain it just to be able to excercise!!! :/

thanks for the tips!!

Just wanted to say that if any of you a teenager and need some support to please join my group and will be happy to help cheer you up the best I can! :D

I am a hardgainer as many of you have detailed through these postings.  We are pre-disposed to be our sleek sizes.  If we ever did want to gain weight, often times it does take a little bit more than our well rounded friends.  It's tough, but with a little extra discipline and knowledge, one can gain weight without extreme measures.  I have a blog that talks about this very topic, if you ever free to take a look.  I highly suggest it.

I do understand why society has focused on the epidemic of obesity, since many people do suffer iller fates as a result of being overweight.  But still, It would be nice for some of us hardgainers to get some attention on the national scope like we are in this gathering of minds.  There just isn't enough information or knowledge out there to guide us through our lifestyle.
