I'm 5'4, 16 years old, 95lbs and eat 12-1300 cals a day.

I know I'm underweight, but I've always been, it's just the way I am.  I'm also recovering from an ED (not the reason I was always underweight btw) so my calories are still quite low because my metabolism's still broken.

I plan on getting to 15-1600 calories a day as that's what my BMR is supposed to be.

BMR doesn't take into account that you move about during the day.  1500 would be OK if you were bedridden, basically.  Aim for 2000 if you are mobile.... even if you don't do formal exercise.   The original poster should do the same and not try to copy your starvation rations.

You were underweight because you ate too little.  As you increase your intake your metabolism will recover.  Don't worry.

Eventually I will try to aim higher, but 1500 sounds like a lot right now and I don't want to scare myself off with huge numbers.  I mentioned my ED so the original poster would know that my intake was probably lower than it should be right now.

I was never underweight because I ate too little.  I know you probably won't believe me but it's true.  I really struggled to gain weight as a child,  I tried sooo hard and ate so much but just couldn't gain weight until a few years ago.

Btw, thanks for telling me my metabolism will recover, I've been worried that it won't no matter how much I eat, so thank you.

Oh yeah, this seems to be a pretty good calculator for BMI and calories for teens http://www.kidsnutrition.org/bodycomp/bmiz2.h tml if that's of any help sportychic.

I'm 5'4", 17 years old and 82lbs, up from 71....

im recovering from an ED and i maintain on 1800-2000 calories, any less than this and i lose weight like crazy.

I'm 5'2.5", 17 years old, 101 pounds.

I aim for 1300 calories a day but I know I go over that limit and usually reach 1500 or so.

I'm 5'3 and 120 pounds. I eat 1600-1800 a day, no less, but sometimes more. (:
5'2" 17 years old eat 1900-2400 calories a day

I'm 5'1'', 17 years old, 112 lbs. I aim for 1200-1400 calories a day, though sometimes I binge to 1500.

1500 is not a binge.... 1500 is undereating by 500 cals a day.  1200 and is a quick route to very poor health indeed.  Why do you want to be so sick?

Sorry, I should not have used the word binge. Overeat, perhaps. But an average of 1300 cals a day is what works for me, definitely not 2000 cals.

5'2, 15, 135lbs, and I eat between 1100 and 1500 cals a day.  (15lbs in about a month and a half or so) it works really well as long as you exercise and don't plateau.

Marekat, you realize that you're going to gain it all back when you try and eat normally again right? I lost 10 pounds eating 1200 calories a day back in September, and I gained every single pound back plus 2. It may work now, but it won't in the long run.

I totally 2nd that! haha. As for me, I'm 5'4", 16 yrs old, and around 100-105 pounds, and I eat AT LEAST 1500 a day [definitely more when I'm exercising].

I'm 5'3", 100-105 lbs, and seventeen years old. My calorie intake ranges from 1400 when I'm sedentary, up to almost 1800 when I'm super active. I know nutritionists say teens should eat more, but I'm pretty much as tall as I'm going to be, and I take a multivitamin as well as making sure I eat lots of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, fats, and protein. I usually have enough energy to exercise every day, so I thought I was doing pretty good... :(

Marekat: you are exactly like me! well, when it comes to stats! I am 135 pounds too! It's comforting to know that there is also someone like me out there! Yay!

just a bit of constructive criticism: The amount of energy you have isn't exactly the best indicator of how healthy you are. I say this because while I was eating less than 1000 calories a day, I still had the energy to put in about 30 minutes of exercise 5 times a week. Of course, I wasn't seeing any results, so I decided to up my calories, and was able to push myself harder and increase the duration of my exercise.. plus I lost weight :D

I am 5'3'' and 16 and I am 144. A year ago I was 125 and before that I was 180. So I just started trying to lose it again and Im aiming for 1200, but usually go over. My goal is to be down 14 pounds by may 16th. sooner would be better, and Im expecting the last 5 is going to be reaaaallly hard so Im aiming for 125 by the time school lets out for summer.

Karliann: I know what you mean! I was 110 before, then i went up to 136 now! All because of my stinkin surgery, birth control pills (no i am not pregnant! I just haven't gotten my period for the longest time!) and sports! You know how muscle weighs more than fat, well since i started lifting weights and whatnot i gained a lot of muscle weight, and water weight the only way i can get through with this right now is to think that the scale does not measure how musch musce you have and how much fat you have that's the only way i could think right now. But i really want to loose it all!

I'm 5'2, 18 years old and 120. I eat anywhere between 1200 and 1600 a day. I'm active, I work out at least once a day burning 400-600 calories.  I'm also a college swimmer and am out of season right now but will resume lifting with a strength coach twice a week next week.
