I was thinking the other day about starting on the Alli diet pill and I read up on it and I thought it could help a lot especially if I watch my fat intake. My question is has anyone every used it and gotten results? I really want to know because I dont want to buy it if it's not going to work. Thanks guys!

ahh alli. I have never personally taken it. I am afraid of the side affects. But i do know people that have taken it and it worked well...

It does help you lose weight. If you do take it then make sure that you are also taking a multi vitamin with it because you are also not absorbing the nutrients that you need along with your fat. The side effects can be pretty harsh, and i am sure that you have heard the horror stories, so i will not go into it.

If you want to try it then do it. Let us on the boards know how it went and how much you lose.

I have been taking Alli for about 2 months now and it is really working.  I was injured in the military and my spine is fused.  I also have hypothyroidism.  Being bed ridden for several years has really messed up my body.  So...  I started Alli and I have lost 35lbs so far.  I recommend it!!!

***  However!  If you don't want side effects, you really need to watch your fat intake.  If you have more than 15 grams of fat per meal, you will have side effects.  The side effects don't hurt you, but they are gross. (ie. Oil spotting, loose stool). ***

Alli is great if you are willing to watch the fat in your diet.

Also, you don't have to take Alli in any meals that does nothave fat.  Alli works by removing some of the fat you eat, so if you don't eat any, than you don't need to take it.

I've been interested in Alli as well, but I know that around 30% fat intake during the day is HEALTHY.  (So long as it comes from healthy foods.)  Is 30% a day too much- would I be experiencing the dreaded side effects?

Hey there!

I took Alli for about a month. The first two weeks were GREAT! No side effects (lots of gas... but it wasn't stinky so I didn't mind). After about two weeks, though, it started up with the side effects.

On my husband and my first anniversary, we went to a bed and breakfast... had steak, potatoes, bread, cake, etc. It was WELL over the 15 grams of fat... and my first experience with the dreaded oily discharge. I was MORTIFIED! (oil when I passed gas.... left stains)

The following two weeks I had hit and miss effects. It was too intimidating to keep up with. You SERIOUSLY have to NOT eat anything with more than 15 grams of fat per serving! NO JOKE.

So anyway, be careful - but I hear that it really works!

I contemplated starting to take Alli.. my mom takes it and she likes it.

But after reading all the little books and stuff that come with it, it says after you stop taking Alli you may re-gain weight because your body is use to you taking the Alli.

So I figured screw that, and I will just do it the old fashion way. I don't want my body to become dependent on something to lose weight. Plus the pills are expensive and you gotta take 3 day..... but if I had the money and wasn't worried about gaining back the weight i lost i would definitely take it! Laughing

I tried Alli for a couple of weeks but got really grossed out by the side effects when I went over on fat grams. I stopped taking it.

No offense but pills like this are for people who can't (or won't) work out. 30 min of cardio a day and watching what you eat will do the same thing only better and you'll get healthy in the process.

Changing the way your body processes food is not natural. Use what God gave ya!

Again, no offense, I just calls em like I sees em.

Alli is awesome if you follow the guidelines! I went from 185 to 129! (ugh!! but I gained weight when I stopped so I am back at 145)

I totally recommend it!! I also need a buddy!!!Laughing

I took it and didn't see much difference on the scale. I really don't eat a lot of fat. With just watching my calories alone I tend to eat about 30g or less per day. It doesn't help much if you are not eating enough fat. It only keeps you from absorbing some of the fat you eat so if you don't eat much it wont help much. I took it for 2 months just to try it out and that was an expensive experiment.

Glade to hear it helps some people though.

I will say, I had I day of side effects from eating at a fast food place, seriously have to watch the intake of every meal!
