Would you count calories for cleaning the house?

I'm going to be cleaning this afternoon - including washing floors, polishing furniture, doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom...

Would you count this as exercise?

yup... any kind of moving around, or anything that you're doing for awhile is worth looking up in my book
every once in awhile i log everything, just for fun.  i even log "sitting and typing."  it's a good reminder that any kind of movement helps.  i spend a lot of time studying at home, and when i've been at my desk for eight or ten hours, i start to feel like a real slug.  30 minutes of vacuuming is better than 30 minutes napping on the couch, right?
Those are not things you do every day for long periods of time are they? If they aren't I would sure log them because you are moving therefore burning calories
Normally, I don't log my housework as far as the everyday stuff, BUT if I'm doing something that I don't do on a daily basis, I'll log it. Like yesterday, I cleaned my bathroom floor on my hands and knees. That's not something I do every day. It does burn more calories and gives your arms a pretty good workout, too Smile. So I did log the scrubbing of the floor, but I didn't log loading the dishwasher and stuff that I normally do each day.
i like to log things that i hate doing.  it gives me a little boost.  hence, i can tell you all about shovelling snow.

That is how I log things also. I live a pretty sedentary life but that does not mean that I am going to log things such as showering or loading the dishwasher. I only log what actual exercise I do and cleaning house can be a real work out for sure.

Just look up the meaning of EXERCISE in the dictionary, and you'll get the PRECISE MEANING.

According to my dictionary:  To train by use; cause to act; exert, to perform, to carry out duties, to actively employ the muscles or mind - to undergo training, to indulge in an activity for health or development.

Moving about as you did, is at least moderate exercise; building a house in 24 hours would be EXTREME EXERCISE (particularly if you did it all by yourself).  Diane - Nevada

I don't log housework because our house is small and I tend to break it up into tasks throughout the week.

But I do admit that I log mall shopping! Because our local mall is HUGE and when I'm there I walk very briskly from store to store. My favorites are all spread out anyway. I always find I'm completely starving after 5 hours at the mall, so i suspect I am burning calories. I once even ran "mapmywalk," googling in our mall, and estimating how far it was to walk from one end to the other... it was substantial enough to log!
YES!! I log my dusting, scrubbing, and vacuuming. Not only am I happier to do it as i know it burns calories, i clean a little harder and longer to burn even more calories.  My house has never looked so good!
Yes, and if you would like to burn more you can come clean my house.
I bought a pedometer i wore it today. between cleaning the house and buying groceries. i walked 3.54 miles.  that does not include all of the lifting  pushing pulling ... i would say that counts
I don't count housework or any ordinary, daily activities, such as walking to the car etc, as exercise. I only count what I do at the gym.
