I looked and looked around, but couldn't find a good forum for people who are just trying to lose "vanity pounds". Everybody's trying to lose a lot of weight, or trying to maintain a healthy weight. But I can't seem to find anybody who's looking to get rid of the little "soft spots" here and there and just make their body and life a little healthier and look a little better. ;)

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a group for people who feel they are in pretty good condition already, and they can go about their lives without extra attention to diet/exercise. This is NOT a group for people who are looking to "lose weight," but instead- as stated in the title- to lose the extra "vanity weight" (the extra flab here and fluff there). This is pretty much a group for people trying to tone up. Henceforth, "Goal Weight" is no longer included in the member stats. This is about gaining muscle/toning, not losing weight.

jewel_girl is the winner for the clean-eating challenge! She whooped us all with her astounding talents to say no to fast food and say yet to healthier alternatives! Even with a slight splurge at the end, she says she wouldn't have traded that moment with her daughter sharing New York Fries for anything! Congratulations, Jamie!

 

Current Challenge: Add up all your hours/minutes of cardio activity. You can add up everything you do at the gym (bike- 86 min, elliptical, 138 min, etc, etc, etc) AND you can add up anything extra you do. Anything from going out to the club (as long as your dancing, not just trolling! ;] ), swimming, bike-riding, roller blading, anything. Just try to keep it honest with the fact that it's cardio. If you walk to work every day (like me!), I don't think you can count those 15-20 minutes as cardio since they're not getting your heart rate up that high. If you're doing something where you can still keep a conversation going, but you have to breathe a lot heavier, you're in the activity range we're talking!

Challenges and Mini-Challenges

Current: Clean eating.

No fast food, no fried food. Whoever has the “purest” diet for an entire week wins! At the end of the week, report all your "slipups". Whoever has the least (or smallest), wins!

Upcoming:

  • Number of hours of cardio in a week. Strength training’s good for building muscle too, but this is to see just how much cardio people do.
  • Most piggy-bank workouts. Workout throughout the day (5 sit-ups, 12 minutes jogging, etc.) and add it all up at the end of the week for a total workout with estimated time.
  • Best mantra/motto, or motivation. What's the best thing (picture, saying, etc.) that helps you keep going when you want to give up?
  • Best workout of the week. Either an amazing new workout you found and would like to share (you must try it throughout the week), or the most unique workout that really works (again, you must try it first)!
  • Best compliment received all week. Everyone posts the Top 3 compliments they’ve gotten all week. The sweetest/best is the winner!

I am one of those people who don't really look like they need to lose weight (with my clothes on).

However, I am relatively newly married after being widowed several years ago and like to look good even undressed.

I have about ten pounds to lose but it is those ten pounds that make me "fluffy".

Am doing great with the weight loss - seven pounds in two weeks - but even better with the exercise.

Starting to see some muscle tone again and the little fat pads on my back under the bra (my girlfriend calls them back boobs) - are almost gone.

Congratulations Strawberry-Roan! I think all of us are those people who look trim or look slender/average... fully clothed! Hahaha!

And congratulations on your (almost) loss of back boobs! ;)

I am a big fan of losing some unsightly back boobs. lol. I'm 5'8", 140 lb. I have a very small frame and look skinny but I struggle with excess fat in the torso area. :-) My main goal is to lose my tummy pooch. Has anyone tried Beach Body's Turbo Jam? I'm just curious... It seems to promise a lot.

I'm 5'8, and around 143lbs as of this morning. I have a pretty small frame, and would like to lose some weight (no idea exactly how much) to get to 120-130lbs.

im 20 years old, 5'4" and about 115-116 lbs. overall i have lost around 60lbs in the last couple years and i now look better than i ever have. people tell me all the time how skinny i look and i get from a lot of people the "if you lose anymore weight your gonna disappear" comments but i don't see myself the way they do, i see myself naked everyday haha. im just looking to tighten up some flabby areas from losing weight. id like to tone up my abs for sure and my theighs as well. my bf tells me im sexy now but im aiming for sexier! Hey, yeah I'd like to join too! I'm 21, 5'8 (actually like 5'7.75 but I like to round up, lol) and I am currently 120ish (different scales say different weights). Anyways, I'm looking to maintain right now, but I still see problem areas like my stomach and love handles, if only I could get rid of them. I haven't brought myself to work out (AT ALL) yet, but I find little ways to stay somewhat active like playing with my dog, walking, taking the stairs instead of elevators, parking far away from entrances to the store, etc. But I'm trying to motivate myself to start this 10 minute pilates dvd I have so I can get toned...but haven't found my mojo yet. lol. But I like the way I look right now.

5'-3 1/4" (skinnyogi - I hold on to that 1/4" too!), currently 126. I would love to get under 120, just to have that wiggle room. People tell me I am super skinny already, and while I see that I look fine, with my clothes off I don't look unhealthily skinny by any means.

Ahhh, vanity!

I am 5'8", 139 lbs, with kind of broad shoulders and a small/medium frame. I would like to get rid of the rest of my "mom pouch", my slight saddlebags, and back boobs (awesome name for that, btw).

My goal is 130 to 135, probably closer to 135 since I start looking a bit gangly and skinny at 130 and below.

I want to achieve this goal by my 38th birthday in May, because that will be the one year anniversary of me getting started on this vanity journey. When I started several months ago, I was 157 lbs.
