Hi I'll join you.
I only joined recently and originally thought I was 168 pounds as thats what i was last time i got weighed and as I had no significan changes to my body just guessed I still was, Imagine my surprise when I actually weighed myself yesterday and discovered I am actually 189.
Feels better now i've admitted it lol but I felt so down and unmotivated when I saw the numbers on the scales just wanted to eat everything in site but I didnt
The numbers on the scale are just numbers so if you feel 167 then you BE that! I do think that we place too much value on peoples looks, I used to look up to Colleen Mcgloughlin (Wayne Rooneys girlf - hes from teh England footy team) who was a UK size 10, shes suddenly shrank to a uk6 (thats a us 2!) she used to be 'normal' and she used to say how proud she was of being normal....whatever not anymore
soz I'm waffling now! gonna go!
Just realised your from the UK me too I'm in Leeds.
Agree 100% about Colleen. Sophie Dahl did the exactly the same thing a few years ago, she was a size 16 model and claimed to be happy and normal and said how she was doing it for all the other "normal" women in the world, then 6 months later she's a size 10 hmmmm ![]()
(I measured myself the otehr day in work - i'm at least an inch if not 1.5" taller than when I last measured- which was in high school haha!!!!)
I'm 5' and the tiniest little bit more,
I want to lose around 40 lbs but its more a size thing as long as I can look good I dont mind so much the exact weight if you know what I mean, According to the calculator here I should aim for 115lbs which would make me 8 stone 2 not sure I can even begin to imagine being that weight again. So with my weight bein 189 40 lbs off that would be great
I'll joing too. I recently found myself back up to 183, which is my heaviest. I have gone up and down between 155 & 183 for years. I really would like to find a good weight for my body to stay at. I like being in the 150's, mostly because I simply can't remember when I was less than that. If I could get lower that would be an amazing thing. However, I have always been a bit larger, and almost think I am naturally supposed to be at the higher end of the "proper" weight for someone who is 5'4". In the end, i'll be happy to lose 30 to 40 pounds.
My goal for now is to just lose that first 10 pounds and then go from there.
I have realized that I have to look at it in smaller goals. I just need to take it a day at a time. In the past I often find myself looking down the road and thinking, we it's going to take to long. Which makes me feel like I can't handle it and I give up.
I am just going to try and set daily and weekly goals for myself in my attempt to get to that ultimate goal. So we shall see how it works out.
I like the small goals idea i think that could work for me, as like you i tend to feel i wont make it so whats the point, Thanks to you I now have a renewed positivity towards my weight loss.
Ladyelizabeth hi and glad your joining us. your lucky to have the help and support of yout family makes things lots easier
My biggest concern is I could be losing more muscle than fat, and I'm still in the process of finding an exercise routine that I feel motivated to keep up with.
Alanaroo and sammi - your right about smaller goals, if you check out my profile you will see I have set myself small imcrements which all mean something to me, each time I write 'done' next to one of them I get a buzz cos I knwo i'm heading in the right direction and also cos it means i'm getting closer to my ultimate goal!
Lady elizabeth - my kitchen scales needed a new battery so i took the one out of my bathroom scales - thats stopped me weighing in daily!
bikini in the future- I think 130 sound ok to me for 5'7", not that I have looked at the BMI but my goal is 147 at 5'9" which i know is healthy
dccd - great that your joining us, how tall are you? when did you start back? haveu used CC before?
I'm sooo motivated right now about my weight loss, i know I've only been doing it a week but i am so gonna do this this time, my goal is july 15 - my birthday!!
I'm 5'5" and I've been up or down 30 lbs for the last several years (since 40s hit! ug). I seem to do great for several months, then totally do nothing exercise-wise and get bingy for several months around the holidays. I have never tried CC, so this is going to be a great motivator for me to stay on top of it all.
I too thought I was still around 168 and had been avoiding the scales for a couple months. BAD IDEA. I'm trying to weigh myself almost daily and not get too demotivated if it isn't saying what I am hoping it does. LOL
I am VERY motivated for a vacation on July 10, so I want to be ready and back to (at least) the low 150s by then. :)
It's hard for me to stay excited and motivated if I don't lose quickly, so I'm trying to realistically shoot for 1 or 2 pounds a week.
Thanks!!!
I feel absolutely awful though, think I have a chest infection so gonna go and see the doctor this morning. Hopefully she will prescribe some great cough med so I can go work, cos i'm not sure if i'm entitled to time off work - one thing though, even though I've been ill my appetite hasnt been effected lol! :o)
Congratulations zulupomm! I weighed 183 on Saturday, so I lost 2.5 in my first week. I am also very impressed with how just logging what you eat can make such a big difference! I got my period yesterday with horrible cramps, so I'm trying to look at the bright side and am hoping that actually it may have been more and I was retaining water! ![]()
Hope you feel better!
Oh the dr said I had a chest infection - i shouldnt probably go work but if i don't io dont get paid this month...mmmm...i will let the sister know as soon as i get in that i am ill, she may show pity and let me go home???
as a nurse i shouldnt really go in with a chest infection should i? but i feel stupid as I have only been there about 10 days!!!
Aww zulupomm its not nice to have to go to work feeling ill , just keep coughing near the sister see if that works, surely they wouldn't want to risk the patients catching anything.
Well weighed myself this morning and i've lost 3.5 pounds this week, so thats boosted my motivation for today at least lol.
Hope your feeling better soon.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
