If my analysis says that I should eat 1200 calories a day in order to reach my goal then why does my eat meter say 1550? I'm confused. Not sure I understand the purpose of the burn meter. The numbers do not make sense. Shouldn't my eat meter reflect the calories I should intake in order to lose? Thanks so much! I'm very new at this!!!

it can be a little daunting at first -- give it time, you can't learn it all in one day.
The EAT meter TOP number shows the number of calories you have selected as your target goal (in your account settings -- you can change it)
The EAT meter BOTTOM number reflects the calories you are logging into your food log.
The BURN meter TOP number is the total estimated calories you burn based on your age, height, current weight, gender, and activity level -- if you set yourself as "sedentary" and then add in your activity calories -- those are added into the TOP number.
The BURN meter BOTTOM number shows how many calories you have burned at the moment you are looking at the meter. This number starts at 0 at midnight, reflects all the calories you burned throughout the night while sleeping, all the calories you burn just by living, and calories normally expended at your listed activity level. When (If) you add in activity minutes -- it will also reflect that added to the total.
If you stay up til midnight you can see both meters switch over to 0
In order to lose one pound in a week you must EAT an average of 500 calories LESS than you BURN each day
The Daily Goal (small top number) of your Eat Meter is the amount of calories you chose as your Target Daily Calories in your Account Settings.
The bottom number is the actual amount of calories that you have eaten (or logged). You should try to keep this number above 1200 calories (female)/1500 calories (male). This is the recommended healthy range for dieting. The more you weigh and the more active you are, the more calories you will need.
The top number of the Burn Meter is the total estimated calories you will burn the entire day. This number is based of the activity level that you chose in your Account Settings. This number will increase as you add activities to your Activity Log.
The bottom number displays how many calories you have burned up to that point. The time will be displayed right below the meters.
A great way to stay on track is to make sure that your Eat Meter is less than your Burn Meter. As long as you have a deficit, you will lose weight. The smaller the deficit, the slower you will lose as well as the larger the deficit the faster you will lose. The recommended deficit is between 500-1000 calories. But it is not necessary to stick with that amount. The key is to maintaining a healthy deficit. :)

Thanks so much! That totally helps me out!!! I wonder what I did yesterday on my first day? I know what I ate but not my burn meter. I burned 700 calories by doing a spin class so I guess I would add that to my average daily amount burned? Does that sound right?
Have you entered a new weight in your weight log since yesterday? What does your Burn Meterdisplay as your estimated calories burned for the entire day before you enter any activities? Your Burn Meter will remain the same until you add a new weight to your weight log or add additional activities for the day.
An easy way to find out is (if you haven't entered any activities for today yet) add the spin class to today's activity log. Then look at your Burn Meterand that is the estimated amount of calories you burned yesterday including the spin class. Just do not forget to take the spin class back off and add it to yesterday's activity log if you haven't already. :)
You can always do the calculations yourself. There are 1440 minutes in a day. Find out how many calories you burn at a normal level for each minute. Minus your calories that you worked out and multiply the remainder by how much you burn each minute. Then add the calories that you burned during spin.
Should the deficcit be between the eat meter and the TOP burn meter or the BOTTOM burn meter?
The top number of your Burn Meter.
The bottom number is how many calories you have burned up until that moment. You want to base your deficit off of the number of calories that you will burn the entire day. :)
Here's another question (thank you for your patience with us newbies!):
When I log my current weight in the "weight log" on my account page, does it adjust the amount of calories I need, or if I lose weight, do I need to go into my account settings and reset it in my settings for the eat meter to reflect my new weight/calorie needs?
Thanks!

Yes, the Burn Meter automatically adjusts to the last weight entered in the weight log.
