hey! i'm 14 and i'm trying to loose weight also
Yeah, I definitely understand. I'm 17, and I've always been overweight. My parents are so stuck in their own habits that they can't support me and help me in my quest. I've tried being a diet buddy with a couple of friends, but it never worked out. A lot of my peers (not my friends, of course) think that fat equals laziness, but they clearly just don't get  that there are so many things involved.
I'm eighteen , overweight, and on my first serious diet. I've already lost some weight though, and I'm having a very optimistic day because I fit into my "I cant breathe nevermind eat in these" pants quite comfortably when I tried them on this morning!

yep :)

I'm 13

Wow that's great. So anybody have some good tips? We should like do like a teen challenge every month or something. i need some motivators out there! any ideas?
yep, 18 here and trying to lose 40 pounds...
How much weight do you want to lose?

I want to lose 40 pounds.

Tip:

My doc just told me that one of the most important things in weight is to eat your biggest meal of the day at either breakfast or lunch and your smallest at night. He said that people try not to eat right before bed or whatever because they think their metabolism is gonna go down, but actually he said they just dont know that your metabolism is already waaay slowed down by like 5, so he said dont have your carbs after that.

Also he said to avoid "low-fat" foods because he said theres only three things, protein, carbs, and fat, and what do they replace the fat with? carbs, because protein is too expensive. he told me to eat full fat yogourt and the rest of the stuff too.

Also he said, just sitting there burns 17 calories an hour. you know how much running does? 34!! thats all. and walking? more than a hundred! he says running is good if you want cardiovascular etc, but for weight loss, he says the best exercise you can do is walking.

lol sorry had a long talk with the doc yesterday, I've got a wealth of info to share. He's been a weight loss guru for 10 years.

OH also other interesting fact: he says in general, the first place a women loses inches with weight loss is her breasts, the LAST is her hips. Sucks eh?

Hi! I'm 17 and trying to get in shape for track season...
hey, i'm 16, i know what u mean, my obsession with my weight started with people calling me fat.. but it made me realise how thin and gorgeous all my friends are..

i'm 17,  this is the most serious thought that i have put into any wheight loss fad i have tried.  in particular food.  it's really hard when most of your friends can eat junk food all time and not have to worry about it.

Hey!

I'm 18 and I just joined. I've been overweight my whole life. I lost 20 pounds a few years ago and looked pretty good, but unfortunately I'm lazy and gained it back. Eating healthy isn't hard for me (though I love junk food, I just need to watch myself), it's the exercising that is.

This site says I need to lose 80 pounds (which is RIDICULOUS in my opinion. My doctor says I should lose around 40), and I don't think that's possible for me! I know I'm fat but I often forget, and I'm just sick of looking back at pictures and seeing myself as the biggest of my friends. I also wish I looked better in a bathing suit... : P

Hopefully I can manage to lose at least 20!

Hi!

I'm 16, and I need to lose some of the weight I've packed on over the last year(and maybe a little more). Mostly I just need to learn to say no to chocolate and all sweets.

lynettep - I'm sure all of would appreciate if you had any more tips to share! Your doctor seems to be a wealth of information

running burns around 600 calories an hour, not 34. if you run a 10 min/mile pace, you burn about 100 calories/mile. running and walking are both good for weight loss, but running burns more calories and gets you in better shape.

Hey I'm Amiee, 18 years old and starting today :)

I'm going on holiday to Ibiza in july '08, im excited but also worried about getting into a bikini.

I think this site will definately help though, It'll be nice to chat to other people in the same boat. I've tried dieting with friends but it never works out. And my family dont support me enough. They just order the next take out :(

How is everyone?

Hey guys! This is my first week of really trying to eat healthy and exercise. Let's dot it!
How is everyone doing today?
I tried to go to the gym today before school, but I was just too tired cause I was up late doing homework. Oh well, hopefully I will have time to go to the gym later this week.

You all really should start a thread on one of the main forums.  If it's just support and a daily check in, I suggest the Weight Loss forum.  If it's for encouragement, then Motivation would be best.  If you want to issue a challenge put it on Games and Challenges.  You could post links here to guide people to your threads.

Thanks for participating!!!
