is there anyone in the same situation as me whos short and light like 5ft and 100lbs or less and finds it hard to lose weight even with little calories? does any short people eat 1200 calories to lose but only find their maintaining? i need help coz im only maintaining on 1000 which is werid and annoying like i must have the slowest metabolism ever,how many calories do you other short people have to lose pounds??

I doubt you need to lose any weight at 5' and 100lbs.

oh maybe you're eating too little cuz 1000 is too little even for shorter ppl. or maybe try that calorie-shifting thing

I am 5'1" and 100-105 lbs and can lose eating 1500 calories a day with little to no exercise. You definitely need to increase your calories so that your metabolism becomes your friend. Per posting guidelines, we cannot support you eating less than 1200 calories a day on Calorie Count.

I'm 4'11", and in 2005, I weighed 53 lbs (no, that's not a typo) and was eating aprox 1000 calories a day, and still losing weight at a rate of 1 - 2 lbs per month.

My best advice to you would be to slowly increase your calorie intake (50 - 100 per week, until you reach 1400 - 1500), while doing 10 minutes of weight training & 20 minutes of cardio daily. This should boost your metabolism up quite a bit. Don't weigh yourself during this time though - go by how your clothes are fitting, because you could gain some muscle weight. After 1 - 2 months of being at a consistent 1400 - 1500 calorie level and exercising 30 minutes daily, or almost daily, weigh yourself. You'll either have maintained (meaning you can eat more calories!) or you'll have dropped a few.

I'll second this.  Even though we are short, we MUST eat more than 1000 calories.  You DON'T need to lose any weight.  You have probably damaged your metabolism by eating to little, and thats why you are maintaining on so few calories.  EAT!!!

I too am short (5'2) and it's incredibly frustrating because ever since I've graduated college and sit at a desk 40 hours a week, I've gone from a size 2 to a size 6 in about a year.  I eat around 1600 calories a day and exercise 4-6 times a week.  I am not budging.  It makes me angry but I can honestly say I don't know what else to do. 

I do feel like as a shorty, I can't eat as much as others.  Because maybe my body fat is normal, but for a shorty, you can see all of it!  THere's nowhere to hide, lol.
