| Hahaha...I've always wondered about the cereal serving size too! I'm a big cereal lover so I usually eat 1 1/2 to 2 cups! | ||
| #2 | Aug 29 2007 22:20 | |
| I'm with ya on the cereal issue. 1/2-3/4 cup? Come on! Who is that really going to satisfy? Not me, that's for certain! | ||

| I think there ought to be a law...everything should come packaged in one serving size...that would mean that either the real number of calories for the item are on the package or sodas would come in the half can. | ||

|
OOO .... I think a law like that would be helpful. Or at least have some sort of standardized portion sizes for things like cold cereal.... and canned veggies.
Do people really think there are 3 servings in a can of spinach? (Hey, I like that gloopy canned stuff ... not bad if you get the low sodium kind!) Molly |

Molly, you are so funny! I so enjoy your humor. Have you considered that tiny can of tuna? That my friend is no less than 2 servings. Is that rediculous or what? My family was invited to dinner at my mom and dad's house. They were having jambalaya (from a box). They made only one box for 8 of us. The box said that a serving size was 1/8 cup, so that is what they served us. We were appalled that they were serious. As we were walking out the door later, to go home, my daughter, Amber said, (thinking that she was only thinking it to herself, but actually saying out loud), "Well, thanks for the appetizer." I wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear. Amber was mortified when she found out that she had said those words out loud. |

I think it is a conspiracy.... the food companies know people are reading labels more these days, so they just keep reducing the PORTION size so the calories, fat and carbs don't look so bad. |

healthy lifestyle is a bunch of letter words :) I dont go off of 'diet' as my attitude when it comes to my eating behavior. and if people are rude about it, they can go screw themselves. trust me. ive heard it from all angles. even positive comments can turn negative. here's one that I'll never get over. my moms friend gave me a hug and voiced to her other friend how great i looked. my moms other friend said 'ah she could afford to lose another 10' OMG. I just about crawled in a hole. stupid lady. i had just lost 135 pounds. and she points out the last 10. people are just seriously rude. so my advice is ignore the lame stuff. and be proud of what you succeed. its all about having a healthy lifestyle. healthy lifestyles consist of being happy. |

HA Molly!!! I LOVE the rants!! Maybe you should post your daily rant... You crack me up!
Eat your two servings of cereal, which still only half fill my bowl... and while you're at it poor me some too. My favorite is (Pam, don't listen to this) Lucky Charms! (Hey, it scores an "A" on this site)... ok, I'll be honest... I haven't had Lucky Charms in months, but they are my favorite, and they're more filling than most... (Actually, I think the serving size is bigger than most) Oh, so what do you weigh, anyway? I've been wondering. J/K!! Ok... you don't know me, so I'd better be careful with my jokes. Keep up the humor Molly! |

Hee hee hee .... maybe I need to start a thread called Molly's Diet Rants!
Mini Rant #3 ... Why can't activities that we do ALL the time burn more calories? And why isn't "surf around the CC site and randomly look up calories of weird food" listed as one of the activities that this site tells us about? SURELY that has to spend more calories than watching TV ... especially after we freak out when we realize that something we thought was decent (calorie-wise) turns out to be some sort of stealth fat bomb? (grin) _____ =^..^= Molly (check out my cute pet photos) |

Pam, I said not to listen to that part... I'm a changed woman.. hehe... Well, I just finished a bowl of Life Cereal 32 g in a serving, but I had 56! Bad me... Get out the wet noodle! I will say though, it has no hydrogenated oil, and it scores an A. Check it out: http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/8049.html I know it's still not the best thing for me, but hey, if God didn't want me to eat cereal, why do I like it so much? (This comment is restricted to the "rant" thread, only... HEHE!... I don't want Chubbs coming after me with her whip!)
Sorry, Molly, didn't mean to take this off on a different subject. You just made me feel comfortable to confess :) |

Molly, I think we are all in agreement if I say we would like you to edit the title of this thread to Diet Rants, and keep an ongoing dialogue that we can all enjoy. Humor is so important to a healthy mind and body, and you have a gift my friend. Thank you for sharing that gift with us. *:·-:¦:- **-:¦:-·"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine"*:·-:¦:- **-:¦:-·:*'""*::·.. |

Rant Du Jour .... Anthropomorphizing My Scale
Do you ever wonder if your scale is alive?? Do you ever wonder if gravity is conspiring against you? With your scale? To drive you nuts? Do you step on your scale over and over again in the hopes that you can get the weight down just a teensy bit??? Hee hee hee! I do this! In fact, I think I do so MUCH "scale stepping" that I actually burn calories. (giggle) (Note to CC: you should add that to the activity log!) I am not too proud to admit that (in addition to getting weighed butt nekkid), I've tried (1) holding my breathe; (2) exhaling; (3) standing on one foot; and (4) going to the bathroom ..... JUST TO SEE IF I CAN GET THE SCALE TO SHOW WHAT I WANT IT TO SHOW! hee hee hee hee. If anyone ever had a candid camera on me (and what a scary prospect that would be), they would see me holding my breathe, balancing on one foot, and trying to look down at the scale .... all without falling off and squooshing one of my cats! Today, I like Mr. Scale ... because I lost weight. But I've put him on notice that this may well be an on-again, off-again romance ... depending on his next weigh-in. _____ =^..^= Molly (check out my cute pet photos) |

I just came back from the grocery store ... Whole Foods, the world's most expensive grocery store (otherwise known as Whole Paycheck).... we were on a quest for healthy peanut butter. Even at Whole Foods, some of their "healthy" and "organic" peanut butter STILL had added sugar and hydrogenized oil! AAAUGGH!
But, I did find some that just has peanuts and salt. (I know, I know... unsalted is healthier .... but I have to draw the line SOMEWHERE!) Hee hee hee... Right now, I will give up fat, I will give up carbs, I will give up calories, but I just can't go "cold turkey" on salt. Hmmm... now I want some cold turkey!!! (with salt!) _____ =^..^= Molly (check out my cute pet photos) |
