The Lemonade Diet / Master Cleanse / Detox

Quote  |  Reply
Alright, I've done some major research on this and spoken to several people first-hand about this.  After hearing how WONDERFULLY they sleep and how great they feel after being on this diet for three days or so, I'm convinced it will help me.  I've been feeling not-so-great lately, and I'm not sure why, so I'm hoping this will improve the way I feel!  I know a lot of people on here don't think it's a great idea, but our bodies really can store up a lot of junk and even eating healthy can't get rid of ALL of that without purging our system for a short time and FOCUSING on getting rid of that junk.  I'd love to share my experiences with anyone who wants to hear about it.  I know there are other posts on this, as well.  Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know!

what does it entail? I haven't heard of it.
"but our bodies really can store up a lot of junk and even eating healthy can't get rid of ALL of that without purging our system for a short time"

Okay, since you've done your research, I'll bite: what reputable research findings have you found that support your statement above? I haven't found ANY.

Yeah, I'm one of the ones here who think this "master cleanse/lemonade diet/detox" isn't a good idea. I think it's a really stupid idea, actually, but I'm quite willing to eat crow if you, or anyone, can point to reputable medical research which demonstrates the need for and efficacy of such a "detox."
Basically, it's a diet consisting of lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and spring water.  It's recommended you do it for at least 10 days to reap the benefits.
You're body is made to "Detox" itself you don't need to starve yourself to do it.
athena, I don't want to come across that I know everything I'm talking about.  I only know that from the people I spoke to, they felt amazing after they did this and that's enough for me!  Plus, fasting is a common practice, especially in religion, so I have no problem doing it for my body.
ritzy_krissy, you do make a good point, but our bodies are meant to detox themselves as long as the foods we consume are not processed.  I don't know about you, but I've eaten my fair share of McDonald's and Wendy's during my life, and I can guarantee you those foods aren't what God intended us to put into our bodies.
That may be, but as long as you're not eating them now and you are getting healhty unprocessed foods and all the nutrients you need, then you shouldn't need to do it, your body will take care of itself, it just takes time.

I see where you're coming from, but since I did eat those processed foods, my body will never FULLY remove those things from my system no matter how many healthy things I eat.  I feel this is what's best for me at the moment, and you're entitled to disagree with me :)

i say try it out. just don't push yourself too much....

your body is like a laboratory. experiment with it!
Thanks, gokitty!  I appreciate your support!
What happens when the experiment hurts you more than it had been before. ;)
no problem. i went on an extreme diet too (nothing but protein shakes & 1 solid meal per week... it was healthy though, people just judged it as "bad" before they researched it) but point is, it worked but i couldn't control myself afterward. there was a special period after the diet where i was supposed to ease back into normal eating, but i couldnt do it. i didn't regret doing it, because i would have never known what would have happened if i didn't try it.

to ritzy, yea like i said, you won't know what happens until you try it. & that statement applies to life in general. what's life without any risks, anyway?

I have been thinking of this as well. I have family and friends who have done it and they speak so highly of it. I know I have got to have tons of toxin in my body. I grew up on Mc Donald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, etc. This became a lifestyle into my adulthood.

When do you intend to start?
There's certain things, like your health, that you just don't experiment with, it's like smoking because you want to see if maybe all the things about it being unhealthy aren't true.

But hey, what do I care what you do to your body, it's really none of my concern. :)
but in this case, she's done her research. i did my research too, before i went on an extreme diet.

it'd be a different story if all she found out were bad things & decided to do it anyway. that's like anorexia- people know it's bad but do it anyway- that's not very good. but in this case, she found out good things- from people with experience. & is wanting to try it herself. nothing wrong with that.
The things she found out were probably based on biased opinions from people who tried it and liked it, I'm fairly certain that if you talked to your doctor about it they would recommend you don't try it.

go_kitty and tanny_g, I love that you guys are with me on this!  It's really a hot topic around here, eh?  tanny, I plan to start tomorrow morning!  I'll be on it for 10 days...I'm really excited!!

ritzy_kitty, I do appreciate your concern, but you're right, it is my body and I have only good intentions :)

well i guess we'll just have to find out what happens to her (:
no problem. let us know how it goes!

goodness, isnt life full of suspense.

Well, the thing is, ritzy, the only people who have bad things to say about this diet are those who quit after only two or three days of it (those are the hardest days).  I have spoken to the quitters and people who have gone all through 10 days of it and NOT ONE who completed the 10 days had bad things to say about it.  That's enough for me!

gokitty, I'll definitely let you know how it goes!
