My Top Ten List:
1. Oscar Mayer deli select shaved meats (smoked turkey or ham)...because they are easy to measure out portions and easy to take a half portion. 2. Whole wheat low carb or lite bread...because eating a sandwich makes me feel like I really had lunch. 3. Tomatoes, leaf lettuce and pickles...because they make a little sandwich BIG with good nutrition/fiber and not many calories. 4. Fruit, especially nectarines... because it satisfies fruit cravings 5. Fat free Tostido "Scoops" with fresh tomatilla salsa...because it tastes as good or better than any junkier snack and isn't as bad for you. 6. EAS AdvantEDGE carb control drinks...because they give a good protein boose on days when my protein is down (17 g. protein, 3 net carbs and 3 g. fat). 7. Slim-a-bear ice cream sandwiches...because they're preportioned and I'm less likely to go overboard with my servings. 8. Breakstone's Live Active 2% Cottage cheese...good protein and deliscious, plus has probiotic fiber for digestion 9. Kid's meals at fast food joints with the fruit option...because with being so busy, sometimes fast food is just wayyyy easier. 10. The calorie free individual packets of green tea to add to water bottles...because tap water grosses me out, so when I'm out and finish my water, I can refill it from a tap and add the flavoring and somehow it's not as bad. (I know...isn't that weird?) |

I found Indian Flatbreads at Trader Joe's which are large enough for my mother and I to share. (240 calories for the whole piece, 120 for half...and virtually no fat!) and we topped them with a salsa and all sorts of veggies then baked them for about 10 minutes. They were delicious and less then 200 calories.
Another thing I didn't see on the list was tea...which is my staple drink. Orbit gum is great when you want something minty or fruity and it only has three calories per piece plus it's sugarfree. Rice cakes are actually very tasty and I love the carmel ones (50 cals per cake)... |
