I love it too!!!! Every time I try making it, it turns out badly. So I opt to get it out, but then it's so pricey.
What's your fav? Mine's probably spicy tuna or broiled eel.

I'd have to go with the california roll. But that's the only one I've tried so far. I need to go out and try more.
and how many calories do you guys think is in an average serving of sushi?

Oh. My. God. I love sushi SO MUCH!! My favorite is superwhite tuna and yellowtail. Salmon's really good too. And it's so healthy! so much protein and like.. NO fat. Woooo for sushi!! (I wish it wasn't so expensive...boo for that)
gotta love the spicy tuna rolls!! mm mm!
Most things I've read show sushi at 50-75 calories per roll, more if it's got lots of stuff in it. It really depends on what type. When DD and I go, we order usuually order 2 kinds, 12 pieces so I normally only eat 6 at a time. And we drink LOTS of green tea. Plus we always start with a seaweed salad - if you haven't tried it, do so!!! I didn't think Id like it but I do. Love it!!!!
Real sushi (not the rolls) is much less I feel. Don't most rolls have cream cheese or avocado in them? I guess it really just depends. Man I love sushi.... :o)
I love sushi too! I always treat myself at least once every two weeks :) We have an amazing sushi restaurant within five driving minutes of my house.

Sushi is wonderfull, however it's expensive in Europe too. Calamari is cheaper , but I'm not sure if you can make sushi out of supermarket calamari rings.
I dont even have to be dieting to enjoy sushi! Its amazing! I love raw fish - almost no other way! Raw Fish is amazing: until of course I have one "bad" piece which leads to food poisoning...lets hope that doesnt happen.
Cheap good quality sushi is one of the major benefits of living in NYC. I eat it constantly. Just watch out for those rolls, that rice and other ingredients can sneak up on you (I loved the spicy rolls but they are made with a mayonnaise!). Also avoid tempura rolls if dieting.
I stick to Sashimi and an odd sushi piece. Start with miso soup and you have a healthy, downright low-calorie meal.

Sushi is healthy but it might be higher in cals then you think. I was looking at some packaged sushi, and it was nearly 400 cals for only 6 pieces. And 22 grams of fat, though it was the crab type.
I like sushi, too, but there are cautions:
The sticky glutinous rice has very high glycemic index, and eating a lot of it will spike your blood glucose.
Lots of soy sauce is not a good thing.
Sanitation, sanitation, sanitation. I will not eat raw salmon, and am skittish around raw shellfish (especially clams and shrimp). I got sicker than a dog after eating raw oysters on a warm day in France, and have never forgotten it.

I know this was posted over a year ago, but just a sushi money saving tip: buy it as the grocery! Most grocery stores I have been in carry sushi and often it is made right there. I like Whole Foods' sushi because you can get brown rice and it makes a filling meal for about $6.
