I just calculated my calories over again and realized I did overcalculate.  It should be 380, and since then I've eaten a 50 calorie pudding, so now it's up to 430 :)

Ann
Ann, can you expand on the Biggest Loser competition that you discussed on the last thread?  I might be interested.  It sounds like you had an incredibly healthy breakfast... I, too, tend to pack on the calories in the morning and early afternoon.  That way, I don't have the urge to snack all day or go on a crazy binge at about 3 o'clock and feel guilty the rest of the day!

I wanted to thank you guys for your pizza advice yesterday.  My daily caloric goal is 1200 to 1300 per day, and I closed out yesterday with 1550.  It's a little bit of a setback, but nothing too major.  I'll just shoot for 1200 today!  So far, I've had a bowl of Special K Chocolate Delight (SO delicious and takes care of chocolate cravings!) with light soy milk.  I'm thinking about boiling some frozen vegetables and mixing them with some organic black beans for some fiber and protein for lunch.

My leg isn't feeling any better, so I won't be able to go to the gym today.  I think I might have to visit the doctor if it doesn't get better shortly.  As much as I love having an excuse not to go to the gym, I'm feeling a little guilty about it!

I am LOVING this group!!  =)

Out on the bike again this morning, and rode for 1 3/4 hours. I'm not sure how fast I went, but I did keep pedaling most of the time. It was such a nice morning I wanted to just keep going. So it was a difficult ride coming the last few miles home. My butt hurts from sitting on the bike seat.
Not sure what I'm going to eat today because I'm still feeling full from yesterday. I have to go to the store and buy some food!
Weigh-in tomorrow morning... The Chocolate Special K sounds good but I would most likely eat the whole box if I bought some.
Flo, so far the only thing I have come up with as far as the biggest loser competition is to have everyone weigh in tomorrow morning and post their start weight.  Then weigh in every monday thereafter and post it.  Honestly in-put from you guys on any ideas you have for it would be great, since it's nice to have more ideas.  I was thinking maybe we can do this competition perhaps for 4 weeks?  then maybe start another one up again a little bit after this one?  Not really sure how to "reward" the winner?  Maybe we could all mail the person like $5, lol?  I don't know?  any suggestions?  I know we're all pretty similar in our sizes, should we do it like they do on the real Biggest Loser and calcuate the percentages?  Any suggestions, would be helpful!  One thing though we do know is that we are weighing in tomorrow and posting our weight.

Figurethefat, lol, you made me laugh because I would also eat the whole box of something like that too!

As for my calorie counting.  I think I'm doing well with it today.  I just feel though like I've eaten a lot more than my calories say I have.  I really hope I'm not forgetting anything I ate!  I'm kind of nervous to weigh in tomorrow!  I'm afraid I've gained this week.  I have eaten very well, but I'm afraid I might have gained muscle, not sure.  Plus the week prior I lost 4.6 pounds in one week.  It was my first week to start calorie counting and I think it just came off fast because of it being my first week.  I know for a fact I won't have lost 4.6 lbs, if any at all, hopefully I didn't gain.  Okay, just had to get that out :)

Ann
I'm in for the competition, or just reading the thread every day! so nice to catch up with people in the same boat or so.

I'll weigh in tomorrow, if you guys are still up for that, I think I plateaued, so my vacation will be focused on getting over that, hope everyone had a great weekend!
Hi all.  I spent a lot of the day in the kitchen making a big pot of Indian spiced split pea soup.  I had never made this receipe before and it sure had a lot of exotic spices in it.  I froze little containers of it for lunches and ate it for supper.  Unfortunately wasn't crazy about it.  I real bummer after all that work!  This winter I had made a Thai soup with unusual spices and didn't care for the first bowl, but loved it the next day.  Hoping this will happen again!

I really try to plan out supper meals a week ahead and get all I need at the grocery store at my once-a-week trips.  Breakfasts have been protein bars.  Lunches during workdays have been a lot of Lean Cuisine frozen dinners, but I'm trying to get away from that by making soups and having chicken & vegetables wraps etc.

Sorry about your leg prettypink.  I would be upset to have my exercise routine disrupted also.  I'd catch up on movie watching while you can!
Ann, I'm all for doing the competition according to percentage lost.  That seems fair.

I hate to hear you say that you're afraid you gained muscle weight.  That would be a good thing, right?  :D   However, we have to say what the game is, and if it's to lose weight, and someone happens to lose a dress size and no weight, I'm sure they won't be unhappy.  (I hope that made sense!)

My daughter will be joining us tomorrow.  She's petite too, an author up for 2 RITAs next month, and she wants to lose a few before her convention in Dallas.  She's a riot and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.  And REALLY serious about this weight loss thing!

We had our pizza and beer party today, and I didn't even count!!  Arrggh!!

Mañana es un otra día!!

I'm in...weigh in tomorrow and go from there!  Let's see who the biggest loser is.  :D
Hey everyone! I've been on CC for awhile reading posts for motivation and calorie counting.  I'm 20 and 5'1" (so not quite in the listed range, lol) and I'm about 128 pounds.  I'm on a mission this summer to lose weight. Ideally I'd like to be 115, but I would be happy at 118-120. Any less than 115 I think I'd look scary. I'm really petite (runs in the family as well as big women[african american]-trying to fight genetics here, lol) and I'm a gymnast(well I was in high school but now I coach and practice for fun). So I'm trying to lose some weight and put on a little muscle.  I actually have put on muscle in the past couple months which is probably why I haven't seen the scale move much.  But my weakness is snacking, but I only snack on healthy foods..however that adds up in calories. And I'm addicted to Honey Bunches of Oats w/cinnamon clusters cereal!!! lol But anyway I don't really like my body type..I just see like mom's that have had kids that look better than me and I have yet to have any! So I get mad at how I look cause I tend to compare myself to other women.  But I'd just like to join your forum to give and receive support. Thanks ladies!

GOOD MORNING LADIES!!

BIGGEST LOSER COMPETITION STARTS TODAY!!!!!!!

LET'S WEIGH IN!!

(sorry it took me a bit longer than usual this morning to get the thread going.  In the future I hope to have it posted way earlier than this).

My weight: 130

I lost 1.4 pounds!  I wasn't expecting too, yay!!

Susannah, Yes, I agree, the game rules are the game rules! we're excited to have your daughter join us!

Arnold, welcome!  We're glad to have you.

Okay ladies, let's see those numbers!!
I hope you all are having good days today!!  Can't wait to see more posts!

Ann
Hi all!  I weighed in this morning at 126.  I've lost 2 lbs. so far, so I'm encouraged!

I'm hoping for some suggestions.... I read someone's post (sorry I can't remember who) who divided up their calories as 20% fat, 30% protein and 50% carb.  As much as I've tried, every day the fat beats out the proteins.  What kinds of foods can I eat that are higher in protein, but without the fat?  My calories are hovering right around 1600, which is where I want to be, but I just can't seem to eat enough protein (without fat calories too!)  Any ideas?

I took the day off from exercise yesterday, but after work will do a "bi-athalon" workout - 2 mile run & 15 mile bike ride.  I like to change things up, or I get bored easily!

I hope everyone is doing well today! :-)
Jess, good job on 2 pound weight loss!  Susannah might be able to better inform on your question than myself, or I would answer it:)

I just thought of something else.  How about when everyone posts their weight they also say whether or not they are joining the competition.  That way I can have a list of everyone in it.  Also, we will do the percentage of weight loss like they do on the real biggest loser.  I know it's an easy formula, but I can't remember how they do it.  Can anyone refresh my memory and inform us all of how we can come up with our percent lost?

Also, what are your ideas for what the winner gets?

Thanks!
Ann
Hello,

This is my first experience with your site, and I was wondering how I could join your biggest loser competition.  I need all the  motivation I can get. Thanks, Toni
Hi Everyone

Ok, I weighed in this morning at 130.5 lbs. I hope it is ok to include the 1/2 lb thing. I am pretty happy with that since I ate quite a bit on Friday and Saturday, but hey--- I started exercising and it is great.

I rode my bike again this morning, just 45 minutes, and also walked the dog.

I would figure the percentage like this, (for example):

Start weight: 130, Weight at the end: 115

The difference between the two weights would be 15 lbs. You take the difference and divide it by the starting weight to figure out what percentage you lost.

So 15/130 = .1154, or 11.54% (move the decimal two places to the right to convert to percent.)

Jess, I am a vegetarian so I get lots of my protein from nonfat dairy like plain yogurt (you can sweeten with a bit of real maple syrup), nonfat cottage cheese, nonfat milk, and even nonfat ricotta. Beans are also a good source of protein, you can open a can of kidney beans, rinse, drain, put in a few teaspoons of red wine vinegar, a bit of dried basil and throw them in the fridge. When you have a salad, toss in about a 1/2 cup. Whole grain breads and pasta tend to have more protein too.

Thanks again Ann for getting it all together. And thanks to everyone for such positive feedback.

Laura
At the end of the day I will post on here all the people I have who entered the competition and their start weight.  Everyone has until 10 p.m. eastern time, so 7 p.m. western to post their weight.  Ideally everyone should put their morning weight, if you didn't weigh this morning, then next week weigh in the morning and every Monday thereafter.

Thanks for the formula figurethefat.

the more I read about some of you riding a bike, the more I get interested in doing something like that.  It sounds like it would be a nice diversion from the usual.  Maybe after my marathon I will start biking more often :)  I like the sound of the "bi-athalon" Jess.

Okay, I'll be on again later.

tchau!

Ann
Thanks Laura, I just made a shopping list for a quick trip to the grocery store this afternoon!
130 lbs. this morning... I think I only lost 1 lb. for the week, but I'LL TAKE IT!

Thanks for doing this, Ann!

124.5 this morning.
129 for me
168.4 for me this morning.  I'm down 2 lbs from last Monday, which is my biggest one week drop in months!
130 for me.  2 pounds for the week.

My daughter still has to register and should be along later.   She's at the gym.  I'm off to the treadmill, very happy that pizza and beer did no harm yesterday.  :D

Nice turnout here!  This should be fun!
