Peanut Butter Obsession
I have a serious problem when it comes to peanut butter. I CRAVE it. I get it into my head and can't stop until I've shoveled about 10 tablespoons into my mouth. Its awful. Does anyone know what thats about, or have any suggestions of what I can subsitute in its place?

I would love to know too. It seems pretty harmless, but in fact its the devil in disguise! My favorite sandwich is a PB&J and a glass of milk, however those days won't happen as often. My friend and I are on the journey together and we are craving PB like mad! Someone help make sence of all of this! :D
Buy PB2. It's from bell plantation. 2 tablespoons has 54 cals and it comes in powder form so you have to physically make it. Just add water! It's a lot harder to shovel powder in your mouth :) lol. It's real good tho, I have my second order on its way to my house. Roughly 25 bucks for 4 jars but it lasts a LONG time. I bought mine in february, have 1 1/8 jar's left.
Oh it's so much lower in cals because they extract all the oil from it :) Dont fear it tho, it's good stuff. I'm having a PB sandwich for lunch today :)

Hi: I was just wondering where you would buy it this PB2. I haven't heard of it myself. Is it something you can buy online. I'd love the link if you can post it here. thanks for your help
I LOVE PB&J! i always have wheat bread, and simply jiff.... It is still alot of calories... like 310... but i think it is worth it. I would rather eat what i want, and just continue to watch the amount. You could also split it, and save the calories... I eat them alot.. :)
my bp sandwich (no jelly tho) has about 134 calories in it. 2 tablespoons of PBJ (54 cals) and light wheat bread (80 cals). I love it :) I could add jelly to that if I wanted, but egh no need :)
Is it possible you're not getting enough fat in your diet?
A few years ago I went on the atkins diet (of course I'd have been getting enough fat) and I C R A V E D pie!!! I don't know why that was, either - and while I do love pie, I've never craved it like that.

thank you the original link didn't work for me. I was able to get on by using the web page directly. thanks again. looking forward to receiving my order.
I actually just got off the atkins diet! Its been the only thing thats worked for me in the past but I realized after the 3rd time that i gained the weight back I needed to do something that would help me lose the weight for good. And i craved peanut butter then too. It might be the missing fat... but I'll definitely try that powdered pb- seems like a great idea, and it might control the impulses better since I have to take the time to make it. thanks!
ugh thank god i hate peanut butter so bad, i cant even stand the smell!
i actually have a great suggestion. Buy all natural peanut butter. I think that is what it is called at least. It has no sodium in it. It is excellent. I found that once i finished my first jar of this, i don't like other types anymore. AND rather than eating pbutter by the spoonful like i used to, i no longer crave it- i think this has something to do with it having no salt. Seriously, try it!
Hmmm.... last time I craved PB&J, I went to East of Chicago Pizza and had a slice of PB&J Pizza, 300 calories for one slice but it was heaven.
I know that didn't help but the thought of it just made my mouth water and now I want to go to the kitchen and make a PB&J sandwich and pop it in the microwave.
I used to get a Peanut butter, chocolate and caramel spread called PB Max that was low in calories and fat but can't find it anymore. I was great.

i'm gonna have to agree wholeheartedly. peanutbutter is THE BEST. what did i do when i was so stressed about exams i could have burst? not icecream, not cookie dough.....i took a new jar of peanutbutter and sat in front of the TV and ate the WHOLE THING.
so bad but soooo good

I too am a PB addict. Nice to meet you all...
I just bought PB2 and plain it is EH but if you put it on something (ie bread, crackers, etc) it tastes the same as PB. When I shovel it in alone, I mix in some splenda to help boost the taste a smidge.

The other thing it\s thats feeding your obsession. And you'll just eat a whole jar of PB
You need to realise that your wanting PB is mental (unless you are starving yourself)
Dont buy any more or have it as a treat EVERYDAY IF you burn 500 cals at the gym, let yourself have 2 tbsp with something you like (like melt it on PB) and if you eat moer than you'll allocated, dont have it for a week.
Be tough
OTher thing you can do is blend it with chick peas to make it not so potent.

Thanks "star" (you have a long screen name) for the PB2 info. How cool is this. I love peanut butter but refuse to eat it because its so high in fat. I went to the web address and bought me 4 jars and then signed up to be a distributor. I know many people who will love this and USE it. All natural too! Great.
I had to respond to this post: I, too, am a PB addict. I know someone mentions it in every PB-post (since the topic seems to come up a lot on here), but has anyone ever been to PB Loco? I you haven't and you cannot resist peanut butter, DON'T GO. You won't be able to control yourself, and you'll keep going back.
I've made my peace with peanut butter. Sure, it's pretty high in calories, but I can have it in moderation. I refuse to keep it in the house. Instead, I get it on a whole wheat bagel at Bruegger's every morning and I ask the person preparing it to use "just a little" peanut butter. I let someone else control my portion, so there's no guilt. Plus, I think that the extra fat in the morning helps keep me satiated for the rest of the day.

Have you all seen the Jif-to-go packs? I love to take one to work...great to put on an apple! It is still regular pb, high in fat and calories, but since the portions are already packaged, there is no risk of taking that extra spoonful (or two). At least it is the "good" fat.
:)
:)
i had that with nutella (chocolate spread) .. what i do is jst think of all the ingredients that r in and jst think about the extra time i will hav to spend on the treadmill if i have some
that normally helps, but the occasional portion is surely not taht bad, i limit it to saturdays :D
good luck

I get my fill of pb by mixing 2 tsp (not TB, tsp) in a protein smootie... if you go with nonfat milk, low/nonfat yogurt, ice, vanilla or chocolate protein powder and blend--magical! The 2 tb really goes a long way. Sweeten with a tsp of honey too. I've seen remarkable changes since cutting waaaay back on sugar: I'm not craving sweet or salty things anymore! I think that most people tend to crave either sweet or salty--and if you cut back on what you're most torn to (for me it's chocolate) then you kind of "get it out of your system". For instance, I love love loved chocolate and instead of getting fudgesicles, I've been getting fruit pops: still sweet but different and so I'm not as likely to go nuts on it (excuse the pun for the post :D) and even if I do, 3 popsicles is 90 calories... much better than the load in a candy bar!
