Diet pills and if they really work?
Has anyone heard of EPH200? I am scared to take any diet pills and stuff like that. But I was just wondering if people were or had taken anything like this and what does it really do?

I am focusing on healthy eating habits, it was just a question.
Being able to ask any questions and talk about everything without being afraid is important, questions that are unasked are not questions and result in not finding out information. I have googled EPH 200 and I was asking if anyone had heard anything about it first hand. I am not sure if you are aware but sometimes first hand information is far more informative then a google search online.
Didn't even realize that I had misused the word "lose" so many times in my bio. Wrote it on a bad night, hadn't read it since. Thanks.

I haven't heard of EPH200 - but I have tried a few diet pills. I first
tried Hydroxycut - which gave me killer headaches at first. However,
for some reason - I suffered through them and continued taking them. I
am not sure they did much, but they did help me regulate my meals. You
are supposed to take them a half hour to an hour before each meal, so I
became better at scheduling my meals. Also, having that half hour
before gave me time to plan out exactly what I was going to eat, so I
wouldn't over-eat as much. Hydroxcut also raised my pulse about 10-15
beats/min- probably due to the caffiene. I later tried a "Green Tea -
Fat Burner" pill - which had the same ingredients as Hydroxycut, but
way cheaper. Now, I get the same benefits that I did from Hydroxycut,
by taking a
vitamin a half hour before meals. I could just plan out my meals
earlier, but for some reason actually doing this helps me a lot.
I hope this has helped you out a little bit - I wouldn't suggest getting into diet pills, they don't really help anything - and don't have very positive side effects - plus, they are pretty spendy.

ix, those two journals belong to anorexics. I really don't think they're a good indication of how the pill will work because they're not actually eating normally. They're pretty sad actually.

Diet pills, are bad for you, you should probably ask ur doctor about what he or she thinks about u taking them before you do.
I haven't tried that pill, and I haven't really heard anything about it... What are the ingredients?
Most of those pills are bogus, think about it, if there really was a magic pill that worked, wouldn't everyone be skinny by now?
I won't do the whole "pills are bad" lecture, but I will say this: Most people who go off of diet pills (cuz eventually, you have to) end up gaining back all the weight they lost, plus more.

I find pills liek that amazingly funny. It sais when u take them "with a balanced meal 3 times a day and 30 min of excercise" <--- its kindof a scam if u think of it... they dont actually help u burn fat or everybody that was over weight would take them so they can look good again.... know what i mean? U need to exercise, change ur diet ie: no candy, pop, chips, crackers, slices of extra bread, snacking, low on sauces..
So me i loset 40 lbs in 4 weeks... no pills.... i just changed my diet arround in 1 day and just started shedding the weight.
Good luck!

Most diet pills say "May work when used in conjunction with a calorie
controleed diet and exercise" so why not try it without the pills
first.
CAN"T HURT and it's a bit more challenging mentally.

I tried two kinds of diet pills in the past. The first kind was some type of Dexatrim. It was supposed to curb my appetite, but I never figured out if it worked or not, 'cause I think I ate more on cravings than appetite back then :-P . The other was some kind of herbal pill that was supposed to help my metabolism or something. I took it before I ate. . . and well, it made my food taste good, but that's about it :-P . I gave up on diet pills after that.
There are three types of "diet" pills.
1) Stimulants
Dexatrim, ephederine based, caffeine based, and taurine (red-bull) based.
What they are touted as: A way to curb your appetite
Why they seem to work: Taking a stimulant can supress appetite
Why they are undesirable: Stress on the central nervous system, increased risk to circulatory system, can be addictive and cause lethargy on "down" or "crash".
Those who are moderately to extremely overweight may have increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Extra abdominal fat can cause arterial blockages as this is a risk factor. Stimulants are vasoconstrictors and raise blood pressure and can exacerbate undelying (and sometimes previously undiagonsed) blockages.
2) Body chemistry alterers
Proton pump inhibitors, gastrointestinal drugs
What they are touted as: A way to eat but have your digestive system not fully digest your food.
Why they seem to work: Less energy can be absorbed from partially digested food, more complex molecules (the highest energy foods) are not broken down.
Why they are undesirable: PPIs and bilic system alterations can cause food to not be properly digested resulting in perforations of the duodenum, small, and large intestine with serious complications. Vitamin deficiencies can result from foods not being broken down normally regardless of diet. Upon ceasing dose, the body may overcompensate by overproducing acid causing ulcers.
Gastrointestinal complications often develop, including nausea, diarrhea, mucous and blood in stools. Some serious complications including numbness and tingling in limbs and extremities for some people.
3) Reactant-based
Herbal and chemical based remedies taken with or sprinkled on meals to digest parts of food to inert compounds not digested by body.
What they are touted as: Fat absorbing powders, sugar absorbers, molecules that "trap calories"
Why they seem to work: By reacting with caloric content in foods such as fats and sugars they become undigestible by the body and therefore provide no calories.
Why they are undesireable: Medicines often do not work as promised. No regulation on most medicines. May absorb vitamins from the body and bloodstream causing severe vitamin deficiencies. May destroy beneficial bacteria in colon. May cause gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, mucous in stools. Possible allergic reactions in some people. Unknown long term effects of use.

I don't take diet pills because the one time I did try them I had a bad reaction. I don't think they are worth it. Especially when the prescription kind, in clinical trials only result in a 16% total body weight loss. I want to lose more weight than that.
Everyone's body is differently and you really won't know if it works unless you try it for yourself. But be realistic about it. They won't make you lose weight as rapidly as they claim they will.

Computerology - thanks for providing all that information. I have a hard time explaining to people exactly what diet pills do mainly because it's hard to find reliable information about them, and my nutrition course teacher was reluctant to talk about them at all. I think there was maybe one page in our textbook about them, and it basically said "do not use them"... fair enough.. but a little bit of an explanation would have been nice since people obviously are curious about them (and use them too).
