my daily diet
bud,
yes i did the MC a couple weeks ago. it was my first time. i was only able to go for 3-4 days because i had to drive 3 hours to pick up my daughter and i discovered after day one that you can't be that far away from the bathroom. the drive was 3 hours one way, so i was on the road for a total of 6 hrs that day....just knew there was no way i could do it unless i enjoyed sitting in poo. NOT! in those three days i lost 4 lbs, thus far they are still off and i lost another pound. i have lost more inches. i started this last week of feb, first part of march. in that first month i lost a total of 40 lbs and 9 inches just from my waist. I started out in a size 22-pushing for a 24. Today I am wearing 14s, size lgs..versus 2x. I started this new lifestyle after getting my gallbladder out and my body no longer wanted SAD food (Standard American Diet). So my doctor recommended I try this, a gastro doc. So since then, that's what I have been doing. In fact I went to see him today. He is pleased with my results and is sending me for blood work. He wants to make that I am good to go before he sends me on my merry way. We also got into an interesting conversation about wheatgrass while I was there.
So anyways, this is what I am eating:
either a green juice or carrot juice. Somedays both.
Green juice consists of: spinach, parsley, kale, spring garden mix, apple or pear.
Carrot juice: carrots, apple or pears.
i also eat a variety of fruits during the day, lots of apples, pears, melons, bananas. i do the occasional salad too. havent found a raw dressing that i like yet..but will in time. i am working on sprouts..like alfalfa. i also eat seeds and nuts. i like sunflower seeds, pine nuts, brazillian nuts, stuff like that. brazallian nuts are very high in protien, higher than meat. i havent given up whole wheat bread yet, so i will eat a slice or two during the day.
i have also picked up coconut oil and am looking at incorporating that into my diet. i also picked up some algae--spirulina that i am adding to my juices.
i also drink lots of water through out the day, last i counted oz--about 80 some ounces. i sometimes make a fruit smoothie too-- papaya, mango, kiwi, banana, strawberry. i have been trying to do a shot of wheatgrass whenever I am at Wild Oats.
I dont post alot to this site. i am more active on another site for raw/vegans. there is alot of information there, alot of support, and other conversations. the atmosphere on it is usually very warm and energetic. there is one gentleman who is having some issues in life and can be very negative, but the type of people on there are great and try and help him. but come watch and listen as a guest..join if you would like. not everyone on there is 100 raw..there are those who occasionally eat meat and processed foods..and then there are those who are hardcore raw.

Hi Lynette,
I was so happy to find someone into pure foods. I'm amazed at your weight loss, congratulations! So, now you are mostly doing juices it seems. I don't know what's wrong with me cause I try to eat purely, but always get off track. So, now I'm trying to avoid wheat, most dairy except yogurt, flour and sugar---those seem to be the trigger foods for me. I'm thinking to do the lemonade fast next week. I've done it twice now, once for 10 days, and once for 7 days. It's got it's ups and downs, but each time is different. I've never had a problem with the bathroom scene, if you know what I mean :)....so if you try it again, you may not have the same problem.
For the last week I've been doing this Food Plan from Food Addicts Anonymous and I don't like eating so much meat...I don't ever eat red meat, but I've been eating chicken and fish and eggs every day, and usually I'm mostly vegetarian.....So, I'm thinking that after the fast, I will go back to being vegetarian, just without the wheat, flour, sugar etc......
So, that's my story! Sounds like you are doing great. Size 14! From a 22, that's great. If you can do that, it gives me hope I can lose 30 pounds.
I'll check out the raw foods website. I did a raw foods spa once for 5 days. Problem with me is that I always gain it back.....I think I've got to make some permanent changes!
Let's keep in touch!
My name is actually Chris...I was just new to all this!
Hugs,
Chris

I'm glad you found an eating plan that works for you and your sensative digestive system. I couldn't do a diet such as that (too many food allergies, like Brazillian nuts, they make my throat swell not to mention I'm allergic to citrus, including lemons).
I wish you all the success in the world and I hope that it keeps working well for you. :)

This summer I am considering going to a mostly 100% raw food diet. I grow most of my own organic fruits and veggies. My favorite juice is Carrot, Apple and Banana. Wheatgrass is great for you, but the taste is awful. What I find works best is straight wheatgrass juice as a shot, and then follow up with a berry juice. Raspberries are high in fiber. I am very fortunate where I live, because I can find farm fresh eggs and local meats straight from the farmer (I prefer Lamb). In the past I have even raised my own chicken for meat.
So awesome to meet you Chris! I havent found alot of raw or vegan/vegetarians on here.
I understand trying it and then going off and then gaining again. This type of eating is TRULY a mind set one. I could have NEVER EVER done this if I wasn't forced to. I loved cooked food...I think I still do..my body doesn't though. I occasionally try something cooked, but the more time that goes, the less it tempts me. In the beginning it was the sweet, really really bad stuff that tempted me..like pizza, enchiladas, chocolate cake, ice cream, things like that. Now if I want cooked, I want soup, mushrooms, or chinese. I think you should keep one thing right now. So if it is bread/wheat, then be it. I really don't miss the meat/dairy. I think because after I watched this documentary called Earthlings, it hit me hard. It showed me the slaughter houses, supposedly the most humane one in the country. If you value life at all, any life, your heart will just sink to watch how they treat these animals and kill them. How they butcher them before they are even dead..its just horrible. The whole documentary is 1:35 long, I only made it through 23 minutes of it. If you visit the site, than go to Vegan support link and its called Earthlings..by member TH11 something.
But anyways, yes I try and juice, but I find that its not every single day..as much as I would like to do so. I am still transitioning too. In fact I don't even do recipes yet. I am still working on eating things as they come/grown.
The MC really shouldn't be done for weight loss, its really for detox on your digestive system. If you weren't running to the bathroom, I wonder how much of the SWF you were retaining then. The butt-pee isn't my fav but at least I could see the crud coming out. Like I mentioned in one on my earlier posts, it's like our body stores up on poo for poo-emergencies. Yuck.
Hunny, hi..nice to hear from you again! Yea, this way of eatting isn't for everyone. Especially if its going to kill you...lol. Thanks so much for the support. I have found that I don't broadcast my lifestyle anymore, people really get defensive. It's not like I am trying to change them, THEY are the ones ASKING ME what I am doing to lose the weight so quickly. When I tell them, they get so defensive, asking about protien and caloric intake. So I often avoid the topic.
IAH, that is great you can get your meat from the farmer. i think if i ever ate meat again, i would do it that way. no more meat from crazy-mart. no way. I cant support that anymore. i have issues when my hub brings home meat. not sure how i am going to handle him going hunting this year....that will be an issue i am sure. he will go, i wont not allow him. but i will have personal issues with it. and yes..wheatgrass is potent! in all ways. I do straight shots too. why prolong the taste!!??? i found the more i do it the more tolerable it is. but its worth 25 lbs or something like that of veggies. so in 2 oz..i get my shot of veggies for the day/week! haha..i know it doesnt work that way...but you get the idea.
So nice to hear the support and feel the love! Keep it up all...so will I. One day at a time..on this journey of ultimate health! Hugs, lynette

"I havent found alot of raw or vegan/vegetarians on here."
that's probably because it's hard to eat yourself to a size 20 on a raw food or vegan diet. ^_^
I think many of us are rediscovering our fruits and veggies. I think there will be more people choosing fresher foods as they progress with their new eating habits.
at this point, I myself only have meat at one meal a day. *shrugs* I do eat eggs and cheese though-and like them alot-so I guess I'll only ever be 'sorta raw'. XD

Hi Lynnette,
Well, my sister was here from out of town last weekend so I went off the strict Food Addicts diet, where I had to measure everything and call in each day to tell my sponsor what I'm eating. What I don't like about that diet is all the animal protein, I started feeling repulsed.
It feels good to eat the way I want to now.....I can't do raw, but I do favor being vegetarian. Today I just had lentil soup and a pear and an apple so far. I'm thinking to start the master cleanse soon as it's allergy season and I want to see if it helps....I think I've discovered my weaknesses, the wheat, flour and dairy, so that I can continue to lose weight after the cleanse. I had a Chinese doctor recommend the MC, and he has me take 2 tablespoons of milk of magnesia each night before bed. That was pretty comfortable. Then I come off the fast with 2 days of orange juice and the second evening Bieler's broth....then a vegetarian diet after that, very light, just soup and vegies for a few days......
Just want to use up the food in my fridge before I start the lemonade again...also, I like to take it when the weather is a little warmer........
I'm going to take a longer look at the rawfoods website...Really need to lose some 30 pounds!
Take care,
Chris

Chris, another alternative to the milk of mag is a lax tea. they work pretty well too.
glad you are reading the raw site as a guest. its quite active and helpful. if you notice we have started a weight loss thread on it. only a few people are participating because vegans/vegetarians aren't fat. so its us newbies and all of us who have joined have been losing the weight successfully. we are going through our fast spurts and slow spells too. i have leveled off for awhile...which is always frustrating..but i am not that concerned. i know body is just adjusting to the new lifestyle.
i really dont miss meat that much. especially after watching the slaughter houses. i dont want any animals to die for my benefit. granted i know they are going to die anyways, but at least not for this body! i am having a hard time totally indulging into that concept because so many products have animal biproducts. one step at a time i guess.
did you see that 100 years ago humans ate only a few pounds of cheese a year..and now humans eat pounds and pounds of it?! and someone posed the question why humans are getting taller/bigger, and girls are maturing younger because possibly of the hormones that are being eaten through the foods consumed. interesting huh? of course each to his own and all is entitled to their own opinions. i have found it interesting how many guests are now viewing that website...its like the numbers jumped overnight after posted it here. i wonder how many read it out of curiousity?
anyways, hugs, lynette

Hi Lynette,
Another thing about eating meat is that they say the fear of the animals knowing they are going to be slaughtered is passed on to us, and creates fear and anxiety in the eater.......
I gave up on the Food Addicts Anonymous cause it required so much meat, even the chicken, fish, eggs was making me ill....I'm trying to be pure vegetarian again.....but til I lose weight am giving up all wheat, flour, and sugar.....I think it's working....someone at work just came up to me and said I looked like I lost a bunch of weight! Make my day!
I don't think I can do the raw foods thing totally, but am trying to have more fresh foods in my diet. A very good friend of mine has her own raw foods spa and I was her first customer. I just found it takes so much time to prepare everything.....And I need warm food at night or I can't sleep.
Another friend of mine just came back from a 2-week retreat at a raw foods retreat in Michigan and she lost 15 pounds....She's trying to figure out how to incorporate it into her lifestyle. I think for now, we both decided to do raw at lunch, warm food at night. Salads at lunch work really well for me.
Well, that's all for now! Take care,
Chris

Chris, don't fret about being 100% raw..heavens, most everyone on the forum isnt 100%. I find some do 100% in short spurts. Just try and stay away from the high processed foods, you know? I am finding that when I eat something cooked, its usually soup of some kind, or cooked veggies....like zucchini, potato, etc. i think just trying to eliminate the processed stuff is a good step.
and yes i have read about the animals sending their hormone levels sky high when being butchered. i guess before i had never stopped to think about it. i think i lived in la-la land where i thought the animals were killed humanely..isnt that an oxymoron? i dont know..like they were put to sleep or injected with something so no pain...a bunch of bull i know. the one under cover video i watched showed how the most humane slaughter house puts the animal into that metal box and flips him to his side. once upside down, the guy cut his throat open and lets him bleed out, all the while the cow is mooing away trying to get upright again. they flip the cow over, his esophogus and everything just dangling (how does he make noise i dont know) and he flops around bleeding everywhere while anothe machine picks him up by the feet and he goes down the butcher line alive as the butcher starts cutting away at him..while he is alive. i just cant do meat anymore knowing that.
so anyways..off my soapbox..its a recent soapbox of mine..im sorry. i dont mean to go on about it..but there arent alot of people who will listen because they want to continue to eat meat. at least here you dont have to read it.

Hi Lynette,
Oh...that is so awful the way animals are treated...I think that most people, myself included, just don't even think about it, the connection between where the food we eat comes from and what we put in our mouths. We are so detached from nature and driven by our senses. I think I mentioned I tried this strict diet for food addicts and I was having eggs, chicken, fish every day and I had to stop cause I just got repulsed.....Now I've been pure vegetarian for a few days, and want to see if I can stick to it. I've been having salad, fruit, and vegetable soup with some beans in it, and a few nuts. Will probably allow myself some hot cereal from time to time cause it helps me sleep at night. And, I'm down a pant size! From size 14 to size 12! I bought some cute pants a few weeks ago and refused to buy the 14's and I couldn't fit into them, but now I can.....
Anyway, I also avoid processed foods, especially now. You know, I feel cleaner inside and out and my skin looks beautiful! Since I gave up the wheat, flour and sugar, my cravings are pretty much gone and I'm satisfied with far less food.
It's really fun talking with you! Have a great day!
Hugs, :)Chris

Good question about spiritual energy....hard to tell even though I meditate every day cause now my spring allergies have kicked in.I'm terribly allergic to the trees.... I think I'll go on the raw foods website and see if there are any recommendations. I had organic muesli and soymilk for dinner last night and I got so sick....seems all I can eat right now is salad, vegies and fruit.
