I don't take diet pills anymore, and I feel that they were a waste of money.  Plus if you're trying to regulate what you eat, it gets really complex with diet pills.  But here was my experience on diet pills:

Trimspa.  I found it to be useful if you're exercise within 30 mins of using it.  The affect of it helps optimize your exercise capacity.  It recommends you taking the pill three times a day.  I felt that it was only useful if you're going to be exercising other wise it screws up with your eating habits and sometimes gives you the shaking hand affect!!!

Hydroxycut.  I took it and felt like it was a complete waste of time, my friend on the other hand says that it helped her burn double the calories.

***in both cases, I never finished the bottles... so that was a waste of $100

Counting Calories: Perfect and its very cost effective as well :)

Nice link Christina. Weebhere, you will probably not find too many advocates for diet pills on this site. IMHO, they are a waste of money. Just stick with counting calories and embrace the healthy lifestyle for a lifetime commitment, not a quick fix solution.

Talk to your doctor.

A lot of the OTC diet pills are nothing but an overinflated placebo, and you are likely to just end up chucking money out the window.

Your doc, however, might be able to provide some additional, useful insight.  I have been on a diet suppressant for a few months now, and couple with diet and exercising, they ARE helping.  However, my doc had to determine I was healthy enough to be on them to begin with--many can raise your heart rate and/or blood pressure, which can be super dangerous.

None of them are magic bullets, so you're still gonna have to probably make some other changes, too.  In my case, I'd made the changes but was still hungry all the time, and so eating too much, and thus making zero progress.

So, if you're looking for a pill, the doctor's office is the best place to start, and, I know what I am on is actually cheaper than any of the OTC types.

I'm afraid of them.

I lost 100 pounds on my own with just diet and exercise. I had about 30 more pounds I wanted to lose and it was so hard, no matter what I did I just hovered around a 3 pounds loss and 3 pound gain for about 2 months. it was so frustrating, so I resorted to trying some diet pills. I use San Tight along with my daily exercise and healthy lifestyle, I have so far lost 5 pounds. I have no bad side effects and the diet pill actually surpresses my appetite and gives me more energy during my workouts. Diet pills aren't for everyone though, I suggest you do research before diving right into taking them.

I have been using a natural weight loss supplement to help speed things up...I am not for the caffeine, chemical type aids - yuck.  I did so much research and then finally tried one supplement (fucothin) which has seaweed in it.  It did help a bit.  Then I found another supplement with the same seaweed ingredient and other ingredients (cactus etc) which helped me lost 30 lbs in 3 months!  You can do the research to see if you want to try it. Just google 'You Be Slim'.  I am also walking a lot more which helps and drinking lots of water and no soda.  I will take it for another 3 months as i have another 30 lbs to lose.  Very exciting!!

Good luck!
