Diet pills don't work.
If there was a pill that a person could just take, with no work involved, why would there still be overweight people? Wouldn't everyone be taking this magic pill? Diet Pills don't work, and they are harmful to your body. One thing works: Diet and Exercise. Facts of life. Like i said, if it was easy to be thin, everyone would be. |

| No diet pills work... at all. Like kuj said if there was a pill everyone would have it, and everyone would be thin... Diet pills are just bad news bears, the ephedra that they used to have in them was just a legal dose of meth... It speeds up your heart not your metabolism. They made me really sick and a I to go to the hospital because of it so I would suggest that you just avoid them completly. If it sounds to good to be true it is... | ||

| Back in 2000 I took some Stacker 2 at work and I was almost fired, because I got so angry and snapped on people. That stuff was evil! I'm glad they took it off the market, it was just horrible, vile stuff... | ||

Diet and Exercise is really the only way to go. Diet pills make claims that are neither healthy nor reasonable. If you need to get started, a good place is hkellick's CC Diet. |

HI. I am always looking for a diet pill for help along the way. I even recently went on Phentermine...a prescription diet pill, along with Vitamin B12 shots every 2 weeks. after the first two weeks, Nothing was different. I lost 4 lbs, which I would have lost if I had just exercised in the first place. so after a month, just to see if it would change, it didnt.
I am no longer looking for a diet pill. If an RX pill wouldnt work, nothing over the counter will. sadley enough, I am stuck with the eating right and exercising. Short cuts never work. Blah |

FYI, Phentermine (mentioned above) is basically the same thing as Speed. Its an amphetamine, and supposed to decrease your appetite. its SO DANGEROUS and highly addictive. Don't you remember the drama about Fen-Phen a while back, and how it killed all those people by causing heart failure and all that? Well, the PHEN part is phentermine.
NOOOOOO don't try diet pills! |

I'm going to go along with what everyone else here has said already, and advise against using any diet pills. If you want another real life experience to help you choose to go with them or not, here you go: Last month, I picked up a bottle of Metabolife green tea dietary supplement with EGCG. Took one that very night, and as expected from EVERY SINGLE OTHER DIET PILL I ever took, I got dizzy and nauseous, even with food in my stomach. Next morning, about 1 and half hours before I had to be at work, I took another one. Just one. Within five minutes, I was so sick, nauseous, extremely dizzy, could barely stand up, and had to curl up in a ball on the floor every other minute just to wait out the pain and nausea. What should have taken me all of 10 minutes to toss on some clothing and get down into the kitchen and get something to eat took me 30 minutes. I would try to move, and bam! I ended up crumpled on the ground in pain. Next thing I knew when I did finally make it down into the kitchen was RUNNING like a madwoman for the bathroom and puking up everything in my stomach, my vitamins ( which I've NEVER had and still don't have ANY bad reactions from ), stomach acid, water from taking vitamins and the diet pill, and this PITCH BLACK FLUID. I'm talking charcoal black. For about 10 minutes, I was worshipping the porcelain god. But I felt a thousand times better after getting that stuff out of my system. My body basically screamed 'POISON!! GET IT OUT NOW!'. The companies that product this stuff are ONLY in it for your money. That's why they NEVER tell you of the SEVERLY dangerous side effects, and get you to believe that you'll actually lose weight / drop sizes by taking their pills. It took me having to get seriously sick from a diet pill before I wisened up. I hope it's not the same for you. Just play it safe, do NOT use diet pills, and go for it the old fashioned and insanely healthier way through working out and eating decently. ~~Bee |

I wouldn't say that no diet pills work at all, but they are not magical. They are a supplement to a diet and exercise regime that can give you extra energy or help you burn extra calories by speeding up your metabolism (and your heart). They are not meant to replace exercise and a proper diet, and they do all come with complications, and really don't add much. I tried some ephedra a long time ago before there many concerns about it, and it did make a difference, but it wouldn't have if I weren't already dieting and exercising. I also got sick after about a week, and figured that it probably lowered my immune system, so I stopped and threw out the bottle. Plus, I never felt quite right while I was taking it. I'll still occaisionally take a green tea with caffeine pill as an energy booster, but not very often, and never the maximum dosage on the bottle. I don't think I'll buy more when I run out, but I still have quite a bit left from a while back, and it doesn't expire until this august. |

| I took Phentermine, and did lose weight, which I also probably could have done with just eating right and excercising that I did while taking it. I went from 345 to 315, but when I couldn't afford to get them anymore, besides setting an unrealistic goal for myself, I just gave up, because I thought I had to have them (can someone say addicted). I then gained the weight I had lost plus 25lbs. Also, when I took Phentermine, my mood was all over the place (mostly bad though), I was like a bottle of nitroglycerin sitting out in the sun, I could blow-up at any second, and sometimes did. This time around it is just going to be good ole excercise, will power, eating right, and the support of my family and my CC buddies. Trust me you are better off to just forget about Phentermine or any other "miracle" diet pill. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, then more than likely it is. I learned that the hard way. | ||

Wow bee-chan, that sounds pretty bad. Did you see a doctor after that? While it could have been the pills, you could also have some other problems that you should get checked out. I rarely take green tea pills (at most 2-4 times per month), but I've never felt any adverse reactions to them. I have a bottle of Applied Nutrition Fat Burner Green Tea pills. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that because I haven't had that problem from the pills, they couldn't have been the cause. Different people have different tolerance levels for different things. I know that my stomach can't handle much alcohol, especially the low quality vodka I had two weeks ago that made me puke up so much that I was puking out blood. I only had a .1% bac level when they checked me, and I've seen people who drink as infrequently (which is pretty infrequent) or less frequently than I do who can drink a lot more than I did and barely be buzzed. I ended up going to the E.R because I was super concerned at the time about being dehydrated, and all they told me was to avoid drinking for a week. Personally, I look at it as a good thing though, as my stomach won't let me drink super dangerous levels of alcohol. (Though I didn't feel that way while I was puking...) |

Starffy, Nu uh. No doctor, as at the moment I can't afford it, and have to wait until September before my health benefits at work kick in ( they don't expect you to stay long enough to GET any health benefits, so they extended the wait from 6 months to a full year from your start date. x~x ). I only ever seemed to get sick after taking ANY kind of diet pill, but I do know I have some problems with my stomach ( like I can't eat beef or any meat that's like beef. My stomach can't digest it. AND I used to get acid reflux something BAD when I was in grade school and high school. My grandfather was the same way. Which stinks, because I miss eating black angus steak ;~; ). ~~Bee |

| I was on Excedrine for like 2 months and I think i lost about 1.5lbs.. the weird thing was that once i was off it i lost about 6lbs (no pills just diet, and a lil exercise)and i didnt change my usual eating.. i think because of the high amount of caffiene in them they screwed up my metabolism or something.. but other then that they cost too much, and make you all jittery.. they did surpress appetite though, and now i have learned to just eat till im content, but not overally full and sick feeling. | ||

I am really not a big fan of diet pills. I need to lose about 10-15 lbs right now and my fiance needs to lose like 40. He talked me into trying "Smartburn with hoodia". It's supposed to be all natural blah blah blah.
We have taken in for about a week and we have both gained weight! That was it for me. I have lost weight in the past without them but this last 10 lbs is being stubborn and I got desperate. Do it the way your body was meant to work... eat sensibly and move your ass! It's much more likely to stay off that way anyway. |

| Diet pills are a good waste of money. Check out the advertisements. They all say "when used with proper diet and exercise." Well, with proper diet and exercise, you don't need the crappy pills to lose weight! Want a helpful diet pill? Take a good multivitamin, eat healthy, and get daily exercise. I've lost 40 lbs since Jan 14th, and I didn't take diet pills to do it! | ||

Please know that every single diet pill on the market - whether you buy it at GNC, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, etc... all have a statement on the bottle/box stating that all the claims they are making HAVE NOT been proven by studies/approved by FDA.
I took Xenadrine in 2000. Just talking half the recommended dosage/day - I felt like I could run ON THE WALLS! I did lose weight, but the real reason I lost weight while taking those was I was also walking a mile every day to get to work from the closest bus station. Please do not fall into the pit of despair that I call Diet Pills. They are expensive and TOTALLY NOT WORTH their cost! Stick with the tools this site provides. I've already dropped 9 pounds in just 3 weeks of eating between 1200 and 1800 cal/day and working out a little here and there, just to make myself more active than I normally am. You can do it! :) and guess what - We're all here to support you and encourage you!!! :):) *hugs* |

| I've tried many diet pills and have found Burn 60 works well. I started using it to shed the 'last ten pounds' and love it! But you must work out, it just increases the post-workout calorie burn. I also use Cardio Boost to help with long runs(8 miles+) Just the extra kick helps. To each his own, I suppose! =) | ||

I am currently taking Meridia (Dr. perscribed) and it is helping me tremedously! I'm not hungry or nothing sounds good to eat so I don't eat during my "peak" snack time. It only has a 6 hour effect so I take it right after lunch and I don't snack and I have a sensible dinner usually work out and go to bed around 9pm Bad things about it. You can only take it for 6 months at a time. You have to check in with your doctor once a month to check your blood pressure. You can only take it for two years total. The first few nights it was hard to go to sleep, but after that I have No other side effects. It's expensive I pay $111.00 a month for it. I took it in 2001 and lost 35 pounds in 6 months and kept it off until I got pregnant in 2003. I still workout (play tennis or swim) and I eat 1200-1400 calories a day watching my calories and carbs. So yes you need to eat right and exercise I'm not saying its a "miracle pill" but its a jump start for me to eating healthy and lose the weight. |

I am on both Xenical (Very expensive) and Phentermine both prescribed by my doctor and I use them as a supplement to my normal routine of diet and exercise. They do not work if you just use them without a good diet and lots of exercise but they have really helped me stay focused. In case you have not read about Xenical, that is the pill that basically prevents fat from being absorbed into the body. It has a couple of big side effects that you have to get use to but I have adjusted myself so that they do not bother me. Best to read about them at Xenical.com because they are too graphic to post. I do not take Xenical every meal any more as I have cut my fat intake on meals drastically but if there is a time I am going to have a fatty meal I take it before hand and it helps with not absorbing all the fat I have eaten. The Phentermine helps me with keeping my calories down to my normal range as I do not feel hungry all day long being on a diet or it just keeps me from thinking about food all day. It also gives me energy to go work out or keep moving. My doctor also monitors me to make sure the pills do not have any bad effects on my other systems. I would not go with over the counter products as they can be misleading but you can talk to your doctor about things that can help you with your diet and exercise plan.
I am a firm believer that just pills alone do not help, and just diet alone works that well but you also have to exercise. In my weight loss management exercise has been the most important and has provided me with the most lbs lost. |
