I lost 119 pounds drinking it so it obviously doesn't apply to everybody... Enjoy at your own discretion :)
I've not big on sweets so it triggers nothing for me.  Im obsessed with coke zero!
I would say go for it, although some people worry about the chemicals in it... but i don't think you would have to worry about that unless your drinking like 12 cans a day... personally i love the stuff, it actually satisfies my sugar cravings, usually i have one can a day after lunch, its like dessert for me and it makes me feel full faster so im not tempted to over eat...
Other then women drinking colas no diet soda hasn't been proved to hurt you (or trigger sweet cravings at least not through insulin reactions).
I figure I'm doing the small changes over time plan. So right now, I'm keeping a healthy, low-calorie diet and exercising regularly. When I'm at my goal weight, then I'll concentrate on my Diet Coke consumption. Right now, I wouldn't want to do without it. I have not noticed any cravings for sweets while using it. First of all, the DC it tastes more fizzy to me than sweet. It's why I don't like Diet Pepsi, it tastes too sweet to me. I've already lost 40 lb while consuming it regularly, so I'm not going to stress myself over it.

1)  A few people mention that the phosphoric acid in the soda is a bad effect on the stomach and body chemestry.  I just do not know as the stomach contains HydroChloric Acid and secrets it internally.  So how bad is adding acid to acid?

2)  Others say that the sugery taste causes insulin to be made in your system.  That overload makes you more hungry and more in a calorie deficit.  But this might be untrue as exercise would do the same thing.

I have been so worried about this lately. I read an article that said like, if you drink even ONE can of diet soda you are like 35%-45% more likely to become obese. I have lost a lot of weight already while drinking diet soda, but for some reason, for days and days I couldn't stop freaking out about it everytime I drank one. And I understand that apparently it makes you want to eat more food after, so thats why you gain the weight, but if I don't eat, how can it really hurt me? I drink kind of a lot I think, normally 3 cans a day of either Sprite Zero or Diet Cherry Coke. Now having read this thread I feel better about drinking it.

It doesn't make me want sweets, I use it to curb my sugar cravings. I used to limit it to one or fewer per day, but I drink much more than that now. I try to stick to the ones with Splenda because I prefer the taste. My faves are ginger ale, root beer, and the occasional cola or orange soda. Everyone is different. If they work for you, enjoy!
