So OK, I'm not taking ambien to sleep so that's not the cause....

This morning for the first time in awhile I woke up with food in my bed....There were pieces of almonds everywhere...When I went into the kitchen I found my container of almonds open on the counter...and there were noticably fewer than what was there yesterday...

I've been sleep eating again!  No memory of it at all....Have done this on and off over the years...waking up with a box of Frosted Flakes, or whatever....But this is the first time in a very long time it's happened...

I dont have a clue how much I ate....no real way to calculate the calories...guess i didn't think to use my food scale or measuring cups!  And for once I didn't immediately log my food into CC!

Anybody else a sleep eater???  Anybody know the cause????

I'm not a sleep eater (I am, however a drunk eater).  Are you prone to sleepwalking as well?  I heard alot more people are than we think.
peaches it's hard to tell if I'm a sleepwalker as well...does trotting to the bathroom every 2 hrs to pee count?
oh i sleep eat too! my roommate has said she's seen me sitting up in bed eating in the middle of the night, but i don't remember ever doing it.

stress? not getting enough kcal during the day?

you should see a doctor about it if it becomes suspect of sabotaging your diet, sleep, safety,  or family.

i do wake up in the middle of the night to eat, but i'm pretty conscious of it, so i don't think that counts as sleep eating.

i don't know what you were dreaming about, but something in your head might have triggered a familiar thought process (one you've had before) that led to sleep-eating in the past.  last night's episode might be more "historically physiological" (as in, jem599's personal history, that is) than you suspect.

Seriously, if I could tell you all the messed up stuff I've done, without knowing - besides flashbacks and friends-, while on Ambien.  If only you could blame that on your sleep eating. :-D Maybe you should start taking it as an excuse to your sleep eating ;)

My husband is an occasional sleep eater.  Most often he has "episodes" when he's overly stressed or hasn't slept well in a while.  He tends to eat high fat/sugar foods such as peanut butter, honey, etc.  Some things he's eaten are extremely bizarre, such as ground pepper, dry metamucil.  ha ha.  I got a good laugh out of that one.  I figured it was payback for the mess I wake up to in the kitchen the morning after!

Please talk to your doctor about the sleep eating. My daughter's fiance choked to death during a sleep eating episode. He had just turned 21 the month before this happened and as far as anyone knew, he'd never been a "sleep eater".

So, for anyone that sleep eats for whatever reason (Ambien, Stress, whatever), please please talk to your doctor.
