Motivation

Hey! I just wondered if anyone who has previously had pretty awesome willpower/energy, so much that my family and friends would comment on it, lost theirs to Depo?

I know it sounds crazy but my mind completely changed when I went on it! I gained 10 lbs in a year battling it. I would have just finished dinner when this wave of hunger came over me like I was starving and absolutely needed to eat!! I even experienced false hunger pains.

I lost the whole 10 lbs then gained 6 lbs back and now am grinding at the gym the way I did before Depo. (Elipticals, Pilates, and Turbo Kickboxing 3 days/wk). Its much easier to manage these cravings when I'm controlling calories and exercising on a regular basis.

I think what knocked me off before was eating more on Depo then feeling so tired or disgusted I didnt' even want to show up to the gym! I read in a doctor's office magazine the other day "Don't go on Depo Provera if you want to loose weight" I was like no kidding! lol!

Believe me I'm not using Depo as a cop-out, it really changed my whole hunger level throughout every day!

It feels great to have more control over this now, but am I the only one? Thanks guys!

I was on it years ago and went up at least double what you did....(if not more).  It was miserable and I will never ever do somethinglike that again....

I started a thread on this topic awhile ago. A lot of women have the same side effects as you.

While Depo hasn't made me gain crazy amounts of weight, I do notice that right around my shot time my hormones get out of whack and I can't seem to control myself.

 That is so funny my sister went on the depo 3 years ago and balloned up like 50 pounds! It took a year till it full went out of her sysytem and boom she lost all the wieght. I think this shot is horrible and it produces way to many hormones.

I had a depo shot when my second "surprise" baby was 6 weeks old.  I had heard about the side effects but my husband and I were desperate not to have another surprise baby.  In the six months I was on deop I gained 25 pounds.  This was at a time when I was supposed to be losing the baby weight.  (I was also nursing at the time so a 25 pound gain absolutely floored me.)

After six months I had a copper IUD put in and I don't regret it one little bit.  I did Depo because I was scared of the side effects of the IUD but the depo shot was way worse.
