EDIT: all the blank posts were just me testing and compliling. Useless now so deleted :) Ignore them :)

CC FAQs

The idea is for the community to create our own FAQs.

I saw somewhere someone recently said something about a sticky in the forums, I've seen it suggested before but nothing ever came of it. So I was thinking if the community compiled the FAQs we could post em all together neatly and then someone could just post a link when they saw yet another "Can I lose weight if I only eat 900 calories" post. Kinda like Knitoholics 'post' and Hkellicks 'diet' only more question specific so they don't have to read through everything but have the links there so they can read it all. Make any sense at all?

We could use this thread as a brainstorming/organizing area and when we've got a good set together post em in another thread nice and neat and easy to read. I think if the post was a main post with all the Qs and then the As in subsequent reply posts and linked that'd be great. A lot of the top posts have the good info, there is a reason they're tagged so many times :)

So my suggestion is post the FAQ, write out a response and add any relevant links. If you have anything you feel needs to be added to another previously posted FAQ feel free to say so.

I'm willing (if nobody else volunteers, raise yer hands people!) to collect the FAQs from this thread and edit and make purty and post to a new thread when there are enough.

Garnie, first I would suggest checking out what some of the top threads are in the library. Perhaps some people can go through what they have tagged and pull out anything of interest. Just because something is not in the top 10 of the library, doesn't mean that it does not contain good information. I'm really lazy about tagging threads, so I know that I definitely have missed bookmarking some really good information, such as all the BED related information that Jules has posted. Anyhow, I went through my list of tagged post and this is what I came up with that is not already mentioned in this thread:

I posted this thread about sugar: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/9722.html

Slappy started this thread with success stories (I am sure there is more than one thread out there on this subject, I think it would be great to list them all... because success stories are sometimes great motivators): http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/11609.html

I also like the how much have we lost thread that was started by Neeners: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/1312.html

Then Han posted this really great thread with lots of different information: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/11205.html

And Alwaysfreetobeme posted this thread on ED's: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/9961.html

Clairlaine had this great thread on storing fresh produce: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/8708.html

There was a time that I posted these articles about how every little bit counts:

Articles regarding how little bites of food add up:

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2003/Jul/23/il/il0 1a.html

http://www.dietdetective.com/diet-weight-loss/its-the-little -things-that-count.html

Check out page 4:

http://ohp.nasa.gov/disciplines/hpromo/campaigns/2005/tbites /tinybites_male.pdf

And then there are some articles relating to sleep and diet here: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/9744.html

Elmfraser contributed this great post on Starvation Mode: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/9416.html

I threw a resourceful post on Anorexia out there: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/9165.html

Plume also donated a nice article on EDs: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/8672.html

StefHernandez contributed this article with 31 ways to increase your metabolism: http://www.officialoverweightnomore.com/31dailystepstolosewe ight.html

A new user named offensive threw out this bootcamp workout, which I thought was interesting: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/6428.html

Christins73 posted a list of "negative calorie" foods, which I also thought was interesting: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/22.html

Thinking about questions that I have seen repeated...

How can I increase my protein?
How can I get more fiber in my diet?
What is a good ratio of calories?
What is Starvation Mode?
Help! I binge at night! What can I do?
How many grams are in a calorie? (Fat grams x 9, Protein grams x 4, Carbs gram x 4 = total calories)
Too much water? Not enough water?

And also just general questions about how to use the site. I think sometimes new members don't realize what the Food Log is, What the Activity Log is, How the Normal Calorie Expenditure is determined, and what the Analyze feature is used for. Those are the main features that comes to my mind.

I also like the FAQ already on this site and the Library that is in the top menu with articles contributed by Erik as another point of reference, so you might want to check those out, because there is some really great information there.

Q : Why should I drink water and how much!

"How much water should you drink each day? ? a simple question with no easy answers. Studies have produced varying recommendations over the years, but in truth, your water needs depend on many factors, including your health, how active you are and where you live.

Though no single formula fits everyone, knowing more about your body's need for fluids will help you estimate how much water to drink each day."
